One of the working “heritage” wagons on the Great Central Railway is Grampus sleeper/ballast wagon DB985730 stabled in the yard at Quorn loaded with spent ballast/spoil, 13th December 2018.
Wagon History
DB985730 is a diagram 1/572 20 ton sleeper and ballast wagon and is one of a batch of two hundred and thirty nine wagons built in 1953 at Shildon Works (lot 2483). More commonly know by its engineering department code as a Grampus wagon, four thousand and fifty nine wagons were built to diagram 1/572 with the majority being built unfitted. Two hundred and nineteen wagons were built with vacuum brakes and many of the unfitted wagons were subsequently fitted with vacuum brakes including DB985730.

it's funny when you come in slightly drunk at 2:30 in the morning and the first thing you think about is taking your w_r picture for the day. so i have always had a kind of negative idea of ann taylor stuff, but went shopping there with ann today and was surprised to find something i liked. also, vanity sizing - yeah! and cheap. wore this out tonight.
It's always a pleasure to find a rose blooming in the garden in the depths of December. I suspect the hard frosts of the past few days will have put an end to them now.
The Railway Crossing Keepers house at Barton Lane and the Land Rover parked up outside both look like they would benefit from a bit of tender loving care as they bask in some winter sunshine, 27th December 2014.
Still no snow yet in my area of Ohio but I have awoken the past few mornings to a hard frost. These pics are from this morning 06 Dec hard frost.

I was taking some Winter pics in Hyde, turned around saw this scene and new immediately where i would go with it- a Winter painting image. A gentleman kindly turned up in a nice blue Jacket.
Class 101 Diesel Multiple Unit 50164 stands in the yard at Butterley, 30th December 2012.
Unit History
The initial class 101 Metro-Cammell vehicles were ordered early in 1955 and seven hundred and sixty vehicles were built in total. Four hundred and sixty five vehicles were for the Eastern Region and North Eastern Region, one hundred and fifty nine vehicles for the Scottish Region and one hundred and thirty nine vehicles for the London Midland Region. They were formed into two/three or four vehicle sets. Almost identical in external design but with many more variations in vehicle type these units were destined to become the longest serving DMU cars ever built, outlasting British Rail itself. From local branch lines in East Anglia to the North Wales coast, from Perth to Penzance in the far south-west, these units gave sterling service to all areas for over forty years. E50164 was built in 1956 as a Driving Motor Brake Second (DMBS) and formed part of an order of four power twin, two car sets (to lot 30254), being originally paired with Driving Motor Composite Lavatory (DMCL) E50168. It was withdrawn in 2003 and arrived at the Midland Railway Centre via the Elsecar Railway and Chasewater Railway in 2008.
