There are a few special, unexpected days during the year. No more than a dozen in the whole period. In any of those days, I get the gut feeling that something special will happen later on. It's like a date: both, the clouds and I, are getting ready to meet. I start in the morning to feel that the right winds, the perfect shapes of the clouds and density are working up to make it special. So I get the camera ready, the polarizer, the lenses, I recharge the batteries, get the tripod mounted in the backpack. And then, at the golden hour, suddenly it happens. And we smile to each other :)
Appuntamento al tramonto
Ci sono alcuni giorni speciali, inattesi, durante l'anno. Non più di una dozzina in tutto il periodo. Durante uno qualsiasi di quei giorni, mi ritrovo a pensare che qualcosa di speciale succederà prima o dopo. E' come un appuntamento: entrambi, le nuvole ed io, ci prepariamo ad incontrarci. Inizio dalla mattina a notare che i venti giusti, le nuvole dalla forma perfetta e dalla esatta densità stanno lavorando insieme per fare qualcosa di eccezionale. Quindi preparo la macchina fotografica, il polarizzatore, gli obbiettivi, ricarico le batterie, preparo il treppiede montato nello zaino. E poi, durante l'ora d'oro, improvvisamente accade. Il sorriso è reciproco :)

Shun Ping Street Murals
Shun Ping Street is located near the old fire station. Its name suggests good luck and wellbeing. Along the street, there are two murals depicting the deity-thanking ceremony, a traditional cultural event in Sha Tau Kok. To date, Sha Tau Kok residents still celebrate the Tin Hau Festival annually, and a large-scale ceremony takes place every 10 years. In the murals, you can see one of the most distinctive celebrations — the dragon boat dance performed by Hoklo women.
I went to the Richmond Marina Bay last week in the hopes of seeing the Western Grebes do their courtship dance...they weren't quite in the mood yet but there seemed to be some 'dating' going on!

My best find to date!
This is a delayed post due to the fine line of it being a sensitive species. When I started even attempting to find one. I was going to be happy with a picture of an eyeball of one looking at me through millions of branches and pine needles. When I was presented with this opportunity a tidal wave of emotions and panic hit me like a freight train! I am so excited with this find, anyone that knows me. Knows, that I don't contain excitement at all! It has been a long week since finding the reason I got involved in birding! 2 years ago I had one take sanctuary in my backyard from mobbing crows and bluejays. That morning I was without the borrowed camera my Mom let me use from time to time. When I found out it was a big deal, I put forth the effort to purchase the camera and lens I currently never leave home without. With hopes of never missing an opportunity again. Please don't ask for a location. I don't like saying no, and I would never steer a friend in the wrong direction.

Nightlight has been selected for inclusion as part of the Cologne OFF One Minute Film Festival and (as one of three of my films selected) for an upcoming season on Outcasting.
The new date for the ultimate weekend in Emmeloord is May 22-23.
