The old town of Alcúdia is well preserved with houses dating back to the 1200s. The old town is surrounded by a medieval wall.
The town was attacked by pirates and the Vandals, many years ago, even before the invasion of the Moors. In 1298 King James II of Aragon bought the farmstead of Alcúdia and founded the new town. A church, a graveyard, a house for the priest and a square was created in the same year. The construction of the walls was also initiated at the same time and finished in 1362. The city plan that was made then is the same that is still there.
During the 16th century pirates attacked the city several times. The population dwindled and there was the risk that the city would be completely abandoned. In 1779 a decision was taken to support the city by constructing a harbour. This really improved the economy of Alcúdia and the village was saved.

No date recorded on the negative but I wonder if the Flags and Bunting were for the Coronation in 1953.
The photographer and date the photo was taken are unknown. A digitally restored image from an original negative in my collection.
Date night. What is your favorite spot to enjoy when out with your significant other in your city? For us, its a wonderful cafe that stays open late and is where all of the actors that perform locally hang out after show. Each little seatign area is a curtained seperate area with little red lights that provide a warm glow. Always such a buzz of conversation, gloeeful laughing and a host of smells tantilazing the nose. Great place to stay in on a chilly foggy night such as this one.

Doris felt that this new culture of blind dating was a high-risk gamble…it seemed that Frank was far more enthusiastic than his invitation to “meet up for a coffee” suggested…

Doris had finally relented and agreed to a blind date with Arthur after he promised to take her to a swanky restaurant and show her his new wheels…these were not exactly the ‘wheels’ she envisaged.

You really can't be outside in Southern California and not look up and see palm trees. All varieties, all sizes, they're on every street and in every park. I've never thought of them as real trees, more a separate thing all of their own.

I went to the Richmond Marina Bay last week in the hopes of seeing the Western Grebes do their courtship dance...they weren't quite in the mood yet but there seemed to be some 'dating' going on!
