all of the grate covers and sewer, water, etc manhole covers have unique and different designs on them.

Statue made by Pauline Loddiers, 1997. Named: Gevormd Door Het Water. In english: "Created By The Water". You can find the statue near a dutch water, named "De Waal". Place: Ooijpolder - Nijmegen - The Netherlands.

(At the right side of the statue you can see pigeon-shit. They are doing well in Holland, it makes the statues unhappy.. ;-( )

This is actually a "After-5 Metro Whenever-I-feel-like-it" sketch. I forgot my iPod at home. And I was at work extra late today, boo-hoo. So had a major itch to draw, yay!

BTW - my camera is officially dead until further notice.

The storage building on the way into Birmingham University - with a little bit of crude Photoshopping.

You may remember the candid I took last year, http://www.flickr.com/photos/platymingo/465684351/

Well I ran into her on the campus shuttle today.

I got aboard, swinging my gear around and plopped into a seat only to hear, "Oh. It's you again."

Sounded like an invitation to me.

I had to fight the urge to crop the crap out of this. I can't decide if the onlooker is an addition or subtraction.

I walked to work for the first time in weeks today, and it was delightful. Now that we've thrown off the shackles of daylight savings time, the sun is up bright and early, and the air is crisp and cool, and life is just grand. Of course, thanks to it being too dark to walk in the mornings and me being on vacation there at the end of October, I missed pretty much all of this year's foliage. Of course, it's not like cornfields are long on fall color anyway.

The best part about my walking to work today, though, was that I ended up having to take pictures of an awards ceremony at my department's town hall meeting. Normally they just use someone's dinky little point-and-shoot, but it was on the fritz; thinking I had my p&s with me, I was all, "Oh, I'll do it for y'all!" Then I remembered that all I had with me was the DSLR with 70-300mm lens on it. It was a bit like bringing a howitzer to a knife fight. I got a lot of shit from people for being the douchebag with too much camera. Oh well. I'll chalk it up to team-building.

Between Clapham Junction and Battersea stations.

This is a project where I take pictures from the train window on my way to and from work in London.

So the last six months or so have been very exciting for Pookie and me from a music standpoint. We've finally found a toehold in the interwebs (yes, we know -- everyone else has already done this), and our music collection has been growing rapidly, filling up with all sorts of really exciting, new (to us) stuff. So this morning the only thing that got me out of bed was the promise of listening to a playlist I'd made of all my current favorite songs. Things started out strong, but about halfway through my walk I decided I just did not want to take another step. NOT ONE. It was horrible. And it was not helped at all that Jamie Saft Trio's "What Was It You Wanted" was playing then. Lovely, lovely song, terrible, terrible pep-in-your-step music. Especially because right at the moment when I took this photo I thought grumpily, "What is it I want? My bed, not to be walking, and a bathroom. Not necessarily in that order."

They walk out, I pose at the poles.

This is what my daily commute to and from work looks like.

I work in this building, but not for Buffalo, there's actually leased office space on the 3rd and 4th floors above the retail store.

This photo is part of a set.

I love my commute!

Made on Matt Connors' iPhone using Brushes 2, NPtR.

It's been a while since I walked to work, so it was nice to get out with the camera early this morning. Of course, it was about 30 degrees warmer than I was expecting it to be, so it was a bit of a sweltering walk considering how bundled up I was. Heh.

The corn is in that tweener stage, not entirely brown, but not at all green. This morning it was also wet from the night of rain.

[ Juliet, Trinh & Tabrel Go To Sunday Brunch, And They Are Happy ]

Today's FGR 365 is "Happy Sunday!".

I made this for white page but here is on black.

I think I take this picture every time the birds line up on the telephone wires along my walk to work.

A typical daily view

When i make this capture in B&W in Photoshop, the colors are bright and good. But when i uploaded the capture the colors are very dark, so as you can see right now!

How's that possible?

Now featuring: Soy sauce! Mayonnaise! Cottage cheese! Some eggs! Some other cheese!

I've been justifying not walking to work lately because the sunrise is so late, and I hate sharing the road with cars when it's still dark. But this week I've had to admit that a pre-7:00 am sunrise means I have no excuse. Man, did I not want to be getting up so early this morning, nor did I want to be standing up on my own two feet, propelling myself through nothing but my meager leg strength. Nor did I enjoy a single moment of my stupid walk. But I got into work early enough that I could leave at 4, so there's that at least.

I pass this pony everyday on the way to school. I find him photogenic in every season!
