A Erkner bound S-Bahn commuter service prepares to stop at Berlin Karlshorst. Electric commuter services have been running these tracks since 1928. The tracks here were briefly converted to Russian broad gauge in July 1945 to accommodate Josef Stalin's trip to the Potsdam Conference, who had insisted on not changing trains due to the German and Russian gauge difference. The tracks were changed back to standard gauge the following September.

[explored on Sep 19th 2012] thanks! :)

Today, despite all the work that needed to get done, the day moved in total slow motion. ...Then I ended up on the train ride home sitting next to Jes (short for Jessica but with just one "s" because she wants to be different ...yea, right. More like she wants everyone to know what a total Diva she is.) She talked on her cell phone the entire trip home about what she might wear out tomorrow night, describing every outfit, in excruciating detail, for the 20 or so annoyed people around her. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah!

Today, art imitates (my) life.

Peak hour traffic in Brisbane. The slow traffic pumps carbon gasses into our atmosphere as we plod our way to work and a warming world.

Less lanes and tunnels, more public transport at cheaper rates, better bicycle paths.

A Evening NI Translink service crosses the wonderful 18 Arch Craigmore viaduct, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland.

The bridge was designed by John Benjamin Macneill, an eminent Irish civil engineer, with construction beginning in 1849 for the Dublin and Belfast Junction Railway. The bridge was formally opened in 1852. It spans the valley of Camlough River. The viaduct consists of 18 arches of 60 ft span, the highest being 126ft, making Craigmore the highest viaduct in Ireland. It is around a quarter of a mile long and was constructed from granite stone blocks from the nearby Goraghwood quarry, which for many years supplied ballast to the Dublin & Belfast Junction Railway’s lines. The Dublin-Belfast railway line crosses the bridge.

This is the true face of the biggest, richest, and most vibrant city in the world. This was today on my daily commute to work. One can ponder and wonder as you sit across trying to understand what happened? Unanswered question that puzzle and haunt anyone that feels the pain of others, that would like to give them a hand but doesn't know how? I am sensitive to the homeless, to the old and the little ones that are unprotected. It doesn't matter what color, race or background they have. Their life says a lot about our society, says a lot about the gap between them and us. In the recent years, their number has grown. I see them everywhere. In the parks, under the bridges, on the corners of my neighborhood, at the doorstep of the building...everywhere!

Surfers, planes, photographers... must be a tough life down under to cope with this morning traffic!

As I was tagged, here are, not just 10, but 17 things about myself!

That's me in the picture by the way... the one with the camera, not the one with the board, nor the one flying.

p.s. thanks again Michael Dawes for taking this shot

Sok was the dog of Yvonne, my friend. He was a funny dog and he loved water & sand. With a little help from Yvonne, Sok posed for me very well. ;-) Since winter 2005 Sok is in Dog-Heaven because he had cancer. Yvonne helped her dog to go to that Peaceful-Heaven. ;-)

in the depths of the munich u-bahn, a woman strides with purpose, her small dog trotting alongside. the map of the transit system looms large on the wall, a backdrop to this everyday journey. the bright lights cast a clinical glow, accentuating the lines and textures of the underground. a safety line, stern and unyielding, separates their path from the tracks, a silent guardian of order and caution. this snapshot captures a moment of routine, a fleeting slice of life set against the structured chaos of urban transit.
