Nice afternoon with old chums Tone and Pene who came for light lunch and some of Archie's delicious carrot cake. Played a silly game of party poppers and Dixit ( like Brexit but funnier !). The rain catching drip cups gift was well timed but the rain stopped so Hazel had to go into the garden to water them with an implement.

Unfortunately, we're having a bit of a hard time determining exactly when the figures will make it from their current location (Vancouver) to Chicago, so we can't set a hard release date just yet...but it will be soon! It's been warm and sunny today so the icicles are dripping away out front. Trying to catch a drop is hard. I love this one, how the world is upside down in it.
This is made from a SOOC sequence of shots from today's 365. Waaaaay more than I normally take. :) The first few frames are me working on the lighting and the rest are obsessing over capturing the perfect drip. Probably a good thing the family is out of town for the night.

I am obsessed with icicles. I love them! I think they make me feel like I'm in some sweet Alpine village with skiiers and hot chocolate.
This is a green building drip hose irrigation system. The hose is placed on the ground around the shrubbrey. This system saves on water usage by not spraying the water in the air and it blowing away from the shrubbrey and the sun is not evaporating the spray.
I mixed blue food coloring into vegetable oil and dripped it into water. McKinsey was my assistant :D
Trying to take these while pouring and timing mentally is harder than I thought.
I mean, it's not hard, but getting shots in focus is difficult.
The faucet was dripping, but when I went to take a pic, it stopped. So I forced it to drip and so there are many more drops than I had previously intended.
Shortly after the rain stopped, i stood at my back window snapping pictures of water dripping off the eves.

I've been doing all this drip irrigation research lately -- you know: turbulent flow, emitter spacing and evapotranspiration coefficients.
Little did I know that I had a resident expert.
This was my first attempt with the Trigger Trap V1. Lots of Fun!Canon EOS 7D with Pentax mount Sigma EX 50mm macro, Bulb Setting Flash tripped by trigger trap V1 laser input.
