Dress rehersal for the girls dance recital. It took place at the Newmark Theatre in Portland, Oregon.
My DD found this silver mesh knit fabric at the Textile Warehouse early this year. It was part of a lot that was weighed and priced. She paid next to nothing for it. I was able to make her this dress.
The dress is fully lined with black knit lining from Hancock's ($6.99/per yard).

Strobist info: An SB-600 on each side of the model, between the model and backdrop, pointed towards the model. Manual full power with a tight beam on each. Six foot tall white reflectors on the receiving end of each of the SB-600s behind the model (think of an X). SB-800 through beauty dish pointed at model from just to my left at about eye level. Triggered by the on-camera flash, which was turned all the way down. Aaaand a little bit of Photoshopping. Ok, actually a ton.
The white wig on the black dress has to be one of the toughest retouching tasks I've ever tackled--at least for time involved. Her hand, face and right shoulder had random strands of individual hairs everywhere that didn't really help the image at all, so I spent a few hours cleaning it all up.
Of course, had it been a dark wig, there would have been no issue. It wouldn't have turn out anywhere as cool, either. :)
I wanted to snap a pic of the dress. It's very frilly and sparkly. I took this same photo like....20 times and THIS was the clearest one. I need to invest in a better camera and some lights...

I love love love this little outfit, but she won't be in it much longer. Today's inclement weather gave me an excuse to put her in it again, possibly for the last time. *sob*
I dressed up as cinderella a couple months ago and this picture was thaken. I was making fun of the senior pics with girls in prom dresses. This came out a lot better than I thought it would.

The Creemore Children's Dress Up Fountain, donated to the Village of Creemore, Ontario by the sculpter, Ralph Hicks. This wonderful work of art is located just of Mill Street between the Horticultural Society Garden and the Station on the Green. I particularly wanted to get some night shots as I thought the lighting added something special to the joyous characters presented by the sculpter. I thought they had the water running at night with lights in the base, but without the water, I was able to get a different perspective on the figures and not risk getting the camera drenched.
