8. Almost complete. The lens is a Rodenstock Sironar 5.6/150 MC in Copal 0. Focal lengths between 90 and 250mm can be used.
This is my latest pinhole camera creation. It has been four years since my last pinhole camera project, so I thought that it would be fun to start work on another one.
About the Camera:
This time I wanted to take the design of the camera in an entirely new direction and try things that I have never done before in designing and building a pinhole camera.
This would be my first pinhole camera to...
Use 120 film (instead of 35mm)
Made mostly of metal (metal chassis)
Have a release cable activated shutter (mechanical shutter)
In keeping with tradition, I only used materials that I found around the house.
Film Advance "Key":
For the advance mechanism I wanted to incorporate the "key" from the corn beef tin into the design of the camera. At first I tried making a bit for the advance key out of plastic, resin, and even wood. However, these kept breaking under the amount of torque needed to advance the film so I ended up filing down a small piece of aluminum. This was a very slow and painstaking process as I do not own a milling machine or lathe.
I tried to calibrate the advance so that one full turn of the key will equal one full frame of film. The key was also filled down so that it would fit into the bit piece; both of which are held together simply by force. A thin sheet of black bristol board acts as a skirt between the key and bit to help prevent light leaks

I've been working on a curved plane pinhole camera to replace the first one I tried. This one has a curved back from laminated veneer to reduce overall size. the film mask is half of 4" steel tube I polished to a shine for less friction. I spent alot more time on this one making sure all the gaps are reduced to a minimum and surfaces that contact film are slick to reduce friction. The film spools sit on the black curve which is a plastic I laminated to the wood to also reduce friction. The top and bottom are 1/8" aluminum sheet which hold the back snug. The back will have a set of rollers attached similar to the Noblex which hold the film against the mask. If I have any patience left when it's done I'll add an additional pinhole to the top of the camera for a perpendicular effect similar to an anamorphic camera.
Not so pretty weather today, but bit warmer, which was nice.

Taken with a home-made pinhole blender camera with 5 pinholes. The camera is made from an empty tin can, and takes 35mm film. The image was then manipulated using the polar coordinates filter in photoshop.

Cyrus' project has been to turn an pieces of an old Elwood enlarger and other spare parts into a 4x5 film camera. He's made two lens boards. One is for pinhole photography. The other one (pictured) is holding a Zeiss Kodak Anastigmat No. 5 lens (from about the year 1910). The camera is ready to take pictures.

This is my "Model 120". It is a 120 rollfilm pinhole camera I designed and built along with the Model 35 back in 2015.
The overall construction of the Model 120 is very similar to the Model 35. The main difference is the size and lack of a rewind knob (due to it being a 120 film camera). The rear cover features two little red windows to real the exposure number on the back of the film. I used red cellophane candy wrappers to act as the red window. I also incorporated two removable slats which allow for 16 pictures to be taken.

One of my first sheets with this film. Underexposed 1 stop by accident as I forgot to adjust the lightmeter to proper filmspeed after shooting Tri-X. Very contrasty negative resulted to lack of tones at both ends, but this much I was able to dig out of it. Is this too rough?

Low tech modification of grandma's old Signet camera for slit scan photography.
After first 2 rolls of film through it, I see where it needs some major modifications still. The whole purpose of the motor was to eliminate the banding in the images (see next image). The O-ring against the rewind knob of the camera doesn't give it the consistant movement I thought it would. I need to modify the motor attachment to either more of a direct drive or wrap a belt around both the rewind knob and the motor's wheel for more synchronous movement.
This is my first photo with the 8×10 camera I made. Also the first time I have ever tried paper negatives or developing on my own. Guessed pretty much the whole process. Little underexposed and also pretty contrasty, but still happy 😄

His creditors found him at Crazy Mary’s on his favorite bar stool swimming in his whiskey and arranging peanut shells into the shape of a giant phallus.
Creditors have a large capacity for violence.
“What’s that gaping maw for? Someone crap in your cereal?”
They shuffled him out and into the parking lot.
He was a tall man. At seven feet tall and six feet under, his boots stuck out of the ground like dandelions.
Mind your p’s and mind your q’s. Pay your debts. Go to church. Fly kites…etc.
This is the worst roll of film I've ever taken. Out of 8 shots, this was the only one that's Flickr-worthy. This was my first roll of color film through the homemade pinhole, I overexposed all the other shots thinking this was 400 speed film, it's actually 800....woops. I also had a different place develop it (since my old camera shop has CLOSED!!!!!! Noooo....), and I'm pretty sure the lady ate a bunch of crackers over my processed film. She also rolled it up into a tight little bundle and rubberbanded it. Instead of getting the film back in a nice flat archival sheet, I got a film turd. A dusty film turd, covered in Saltine cracker crumbs.
Here is my pinhole camera finished at last!
This was probably one of my quickest pinhole camera builds as I have only spent about a month working on this camera. I attribute this to the fact that I did not have to spend time on build a chassis. This not only saved me a lot of time, but also allowed me to focus more on building and designing the inner components.
I have recently painted the inside of the camera a flat black, as well as adding the pinhole and a dark red filter over the rear window. For the pinhole I cut a square from a soda can and made a small hole using a fine sewing needle. After loading a fresh roll of Kodak T-Max 100, I taped a long piece of black electrical tape over the gap between the chassis as an added measure to prevent light leaks.
I can't wait to try it out, wish me luck!
