Everybody's posting their pinholeday pictures, but mine are still drying on the line. So while they dry I thought I could post this pic of the ski lift cabins, also hanging. This was the precise minute when the day started and they began to move. There wasn't much snow this year on the lower slopes.

If the mirror is reflecting nothing else but the reality, why does everything look different in it?

If the image in the mirror is just a moment of the past, how long ago was that moment?

Do these trees have roots in the sky of the past?

This week I found out that someone I know has never ever sent a letter or a postcard. A physical paper letter. By post. This might mean that "my" world is already reflected in a mirror, and that I probably stayed in the past on the other side. Maybe the "present time" that looks real for me is only an illusion in my mind, a reflection on the surface of the water.

Just a couple of days earlier a letter from Ukraine with plenty of postal stamps on it arrived in my letter box, on my side of the mirror. I opened it, and found a catalogue of Pavlovka ArtGallery's exhibition "Pavlovka Pinhole Fest '2023: The Mirror".

Here's my picture that I've sent to Kyiv last year for this exhibition.

Trying out some "improvements" to my cardboard camera, to make it easier for my workshop students to get it light tight... I think another lid flap would make it better. Although I kind of like the leaka on this version... I'll see what I can do. Shot on old Ilfobrom paper, 13x18 cm (slightly fogged).

My selection for the Worldwide Pinhole Photography Day gallery. Home made 8x10 pinhole camera, Fuji HR-U x-ray film in Caffenol Delta Micro. Scan from a contact print on Ilford MG-IV RC.

I made this camera for the Pinhole Day 2015. It's a free zoom/tilt/shift 8x10 camera for pinhole and lens photography. The name "Meoda" is made with the same materials as the camera: medis, metalas, medžiaga, oda (in Lithuanian, in English it would be "wood, metal, tissue and leather"). The standards are made of the finest European pine from Hornbach hardware store. The bellows - glued artificial leather and tissue. The flexible "ears" that connect the standards are four black flexible microphone stands. They make some 4/5-ths of the weight of the camera, which is good for stability, but their main function (together with bellows) is to provide a complete liberty of placing and directing the pinhole in front of the film. Meoda takes standard Sinar lens boards. I made for it a set of interchangeable magnetic pinholes of various sizes for different bellows extensions. I also use these pinholes in my other, smaller pinhole camera "Arkliukas".

Hidden under that buckyball tent is the location where the first contact happened. With whom? I don't know, I'm here just to tell you a story, as improbable as it gets! 😁

Every year, there's a garden show happening in the nearby park, Bundek, and organizers were hoping for a pandemic-free summer. But, as we all know, 2021. was not pandemic-free, so the show did not happen, despite some construction already being done. Let's hope this prelude to a new World War will stop in time for this year's show!

Taken with a do-it-yourself, fully plastic Recesky TRL film camera, using its built-in plastic 50mm lens, on Agfa Vista+ 200 color film. The camera has only one shutter speed, the lens has only one aperture (two, if you modify it, what I did not do), so 1/125 exposure, ƒ/11, box speed, 200 ASA.

Scanned with Plustek OpticFilm 8100 dedicated film scanner, using VueScan 9.5.

Cropped image. From a pinhole camera I've been working on for a while. The film is held over a curved mask (2" radius) to help even the exposure over the length of the film. The film length is almost as long as the Fuji g617, about 6cm x 16cm. But the angle of view is alot wider.
