Glorious sunshine on the first day of spring! Enjoyed a walk around Kingswood and rounded off with some pond dipping.

At local forest park for trek in my black Century Dip Tech rubber wellies ;)

I know your supposed to save the best for last, but this is one of my favorite eagle pictures yet! Perfect focus, great pose, wonderful light! When the shutter clicks and the images come out good, all that standing around in the cold, freezing your butt off is suddenly worth it!!

VARANASI: Where India Meets....

Every morning hundreds of devotees throng the Dasaswamedh and other adjoining 'ghats' in the city to take a holy dip in the Ganga. Devotees then perform various rituals and special puja at temples like Kashi Vishwanath Temple and Sankat Mochan Temple.

Varanasi also commonly known as Banaras is a city situated on the banks of the River Ganga in Uttar Pradesh, India. It is regarded as a holy city by Hindus, Buddhists and Jains. It is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in the world and probably the oldest in India. The culture of Varanasi is closely associated with the River Ganges and the river's religious importance. The city has been a cultural and religious centre in North India for several thousand years.

A friend and his wonderful toys has helped me improve on this image to where I can proudly display it again as a new version. The original, to me, had washed out colors and the eagle looked....fakey.

It is a composite of two of my pictures along with a flood filter effect by flaming pear.

As for the title....It's actually a song by Peter Cetera that I particularly like. One of those sentimental gooshy types of love songs. =0) Take a listen while you browse Flickr? Dip Your Wings

Past autumn a dipper (cinclus cinclus) arrived in the Netherlands.

It's a very rare visitor in our country and it attracted a large audience of photographers and twitchers.

I have never seen so many huge lenses pointed at one little bird.

To get a more personal shot I tried to descend to bird level.

Which was a bit scary since the sides of the concrete channel are steep and very slippery.

I kind of anchored myself with my foot in a crack of the concrete and hoped for the best.

Getting wet is one thing but my dive being photographed a 40 times and to be seen on the internet forever......no way.....

I had my fun with this little cooperative birdie and left satisfied and dry.

And then.....there was this cold winter day. The channel was covered with snow and it was freezing. I decided a dipper in the snow might be nice and I noticed some other photographers had had the same idea.

So we were lying there....in the snow when all of a sudden one of the men started gliding into the water........

Just before he could glide to the bottom of the channel I threw away my camera, grabbed his hand and somehow got him out....

His pants were soaked but his 500mm was still dry, so we decided to continue our trip together and despite the rather weird first impression had a great day...

But my god...... some people do everything to get that perfect shot...! ;)

It will come as no surprise at a nudist resort: no textile in the swimming pool.

I did not get up early enough to get pictures from another hotel or apartment block. So I had to settle with a quick shot, before anyone saw my camera.

It was still early in the morning, so no one noticed.

This was from earlier in the fall of Skinny Dip Falls. The vert. shows just how windy it was. The Horizontal image doesn't show how cold the water was. lol

Just trying a couple of new techniques.I thought this was a pretty subject to practice on.

It's just a simple distant reflection shot of female Red-Winged Blackbird touching her wings to the water. Sort of a nice capture...nothing Pulitzer about it.
