Fort Gordon military members and DOD civilians were able to get an early taste of a Thanksgiving meal Nov. 21 at dining facility #8. Col. Todd Turner, Fort Gordon garrison commander and Command Sgt. Maj. Charlie Bryant Jr., garrison command sergeant major, were on hand to help serve everyone coming through the food line. Each year a dining facility serves a Thanksgiving meal early to give everyone who will not be on post on Thanksgiving Day a chance to eat the bountiful meal provided. They secured 1st Place in “The Commanding Generals Thanksgiving Day “Best Mess” Award” for 2019. The tireless effort from the Warrior Inn DFAC Crew is a reflection of the pride and professionalism that is in every Warrior Soldiers heart. The Command Teams from across the Brigade, came together as servant leaders to give of their time and serve Soldiers and their families a wonderful Thanksgiving meal.

Sgt. 1st Class Crawford Cox, Gibson Dining Facility manager, accepts the 2013 Philip A. Connelly award from Maj. Gen. John M. Murray, commanding general of the 3rd Infantry Division. Murray presented the cooks of the 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team with the 2013 Philip A. Connelly competition trophy for winning best garrison DFAC in the regional competition held by the 406th Army Field Support Brigade, under the Army Sustainment Command. The soldiers recently competed in the Department of the Army Connelly competition, as one of the six top garrison DFACs. The results of that competition will be published in May.
Buttered and seasoned lobster tail served at the grand opening of the “Bulldog Inn” Monday is one of many delicious dishes served to Soldiers.
