PRESIDIO OF MONTEREY, Calif. -- More than 900 members of the Presidio of Monterey military community gathered for a traditional holiday meal at Presidio of Monterey's Belas and Combs dining facilities Nov. 26. The facilities serve students at the Defense Language Institute's Foreign Language Center, many of whom are new servicemembers who are spending their first Thanksgiving away from home. The DFACs also serves military families who are away from their own extended families during the holiday, and staff members -- some of whom are just being introduced to the American holiday and its traditions. D.B. Sweeney, an actor who has starred in movies and television mini-series such as Lonesome Dove, Memphis Belle and The Cutting Edge, visited Joint Base San Antonio (Ft. Sam Houston) 26 Jan., 2011 to visit with Servicemembers and thank them for their service. Sweeney handed out autographed pictures and took time to visit with wounded warriors at the Center for the Intrepid, a state-of-the-art rehabilitation facility, and with inpatients at Brooke Army Medical Center (BAMC). He had a bite to eat with Servicemembers at DFAC, the DoD’s largest dining facility. Sweeney also observed the 232nd Medical Battalion’s Combat Medic training and ended his visit by meeting wounded warriors and their families at the Warrior and Family Support Center. This was his second visit to JBSA.
Sweeney, a staunch supporter of the U.S. armed forces, started the organization Letters From Hollywood in 2010 to encourage other actors, actresses and celebrities to write letters of thanks and support to Servicemembers. Every Wednesday, a new letter is posted to thanks troops for their service and let them know they are not forgotten. In celebration of the 240th Army’s birthday, U.S. Army Garrison Rheinland-Pfalz hosted a special Army birthday cake cutting ceremony at the Rhine Ordnance Barracks (ROB) Dining Facility (DFAC) on June 10 at 12 p.m.
Soldiers and Army Civilians from AFSBn-Bagram and 401st AFSB took turns serving up a delicious Christmas dinner to Yelner DFAC patrons. Everyone had a good meal and good fellowship.
AFSBn-Bagram went all out for their battalion Christmas Party Dec. 23. Good food, good friends and good times for all. Thanks so much to all who worked so hard to ensure a fabulous holiday celebration and a BIG SHOUT OUT to the 1st Infantry Division Band for the live music!!!

Leaders and Soldiers from the 10th Mountain Division (LI) Sustainment Brigade celebrated Thanksgiving with a traditional meal at the Muleskinner Dining Facility on Fort Drum, New York Nov. 24,2020.
As part of Army tradition, unit command teams manned the serving lines to show their gratitude for their Soldiers.
A special thanks to the Soldiers of the 593rd Quartermaster Company who worked tirelessly to prepare this year's meal.

Fort Jackson DFACs use labels to indicate foods that enhance a Soldier's performance and foods that are moderate performance enhancers or are performance limiting. Labeling is part of the Soldier Fueling Initiative.
