80s Night Ride to Conquer Cancer Fundraiser event
April 04 2009
Photos from the Ride to Conquer Cancer Fundraiser event: 80's night at "The Moose and Goose" organized by the team "The Cutters" in downtown Thorold.
The Ride to Conquer Cancer is a unique, two-day cycling event to take place on June 13-14, 2009. During this bold cycling journey, you will ride over 200k from Toronto to Niagara Falls! The Ride to Conquer Cancer is a brand new endeavor to do just that - conquer cancer. The funds raised through The Ride to Conquer Cancer will deliver breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care at The Princess Margaret, one of the top 5 cancer research hospitals in the world. Funding will go towards high content clinical trials such as the world class tumor bank, an advanced molecular profiling laboratory, and a drug development program. The Princess Margaret will also be able to put funds to work for other programs like cancer stem cell, cancer metabolism and microenvironment, immunotherapy, lung cancer, and prostate cancer programs. The results are real and tangible at The Princess Margaret. Be a part of this history of conquering cancer in our lifetime.
This fundraiser event was organized by Adriano and his team "The Cutters" ( www.conquercancer.ca/site/TR?pg=team&fr_id=1261&t... )

This image forms part of the digitised photographs of the Ross and Pat Craig Collection. Ross Craig (1926-2012) was a local historian born in Stockton and dedicated much of his life promoting and conserving the history of Stockton, NSW. He possessed a wealth of knowledge about the suburb and was a founding member of the Stockton Historical Society and co-editor of its magazine. Pat Craig supported her husband’s passion for history, and together they made a great contribution to the Stockton and Newcastle communities. We thank the Craig Family and Stockton Historical Society who have kindly given Cultural Collections at the University of Newcastle, NSW, Australia, access to the collection and allowed us to publish the images. Thanks also to Vera Deacon for her liaison in attaining this important collection.

Here are some utility and craft knives I own. Most of them are made by Olfa Japan, but I have others made by NT Cutter and Tajima (not shown). Each one has some unique properties, like automatic retraction, non-glare black surface, etc.

A leaf cutter bee laying eggs in bamboo tubes. I bought this little bee house and put it up at the top of the garden. The tube above the bee is full of eggs and has been plugged shut with leaves by the bee, fascinating!
