Construction has started on the Cutter Playground/Ziegler Park renovation project. A new underground parking garage will be built at this location with green space above. The park is adjacent to the Alumni Lofts project.
Spontaneously, the kids took out every last cookie cutter in the house and sorted them into parades. Some way to end a strange school year.
A U.S. Coast Guard 26-foot Over-the-Horizon small boat, attached to USCGC Bear (WMEC 901), approaches a Portuguese commercial fishing vessel for an inspection, North Atlantic Ocean, Aug. 29, 2022. I never saw a playground thing this well made before. Brilliant craftmanship, design and materials. Our two boys loved this toy so much, we had to go back to the place twice .-)

This is the Coast Guard Cutter "Alert" which is a twin to the "The Steadfast". These ships are routinely docked at the 17th street pier in Astoria when they need to be re-supplied.
