The Fleetline was introduced late in the 1941 model year as a four-door sedan. In 1942, a fastback two-door "Aerosedan" was also offered. In 1947, the Fleetline made up 71.26% of Chevrolet's sales. For the years' 1949 through 1952 models, the fastback was the only one offered, and Chevrolet dropped the Fleetline for 1953. production was suspended. in 1942 due to World War II, after 110,000 had been made, though several thousand Chevrolet coupes and sedans were produced during the war years for military staff use. In 1945, production for civilians resumed. The original series was produced through 1948.

The Aerosedan was launched initially in 1942 with fastback two door coachwork and a price tag of $ 880. This original right hand drive version was supplied new to a lady school teacher in South Africa

A redesigned Fleetline with reduced body contour and integrated rear fenders was offered for the 1949 through 1952 model years and was referred to as a "fastback" because of its distinct sloping roof which extends through to the trunk lid. The Fleetline during the 1949 to 1950 years also has a lower look than a sedan, with the windshield being one inch shorter in height than a standard contemporary sedan. The 1949 to 1951 models were made in both four-door and two-door models, with only the lower

Deserved winner of a bronze award.

Found this picture on the net. I think this is amazing, I always knew the FX4 taxi would make a great custom car. This one has a V8 engine, and has obviously taken a lot of work to build. The roof chop looks great. I'd love to see it for real. This is exactly the sort of taxi I would have had built for me, if I won the lottery!

Customising in the 90's idolising the Governer of the State of California!

Hey there,

just wanted to show you my elves. I wish i had brickforge or BA to customize them^^

So I saw the same China eBay seller selling some leftover LA Girl head stock without rooted hair. I always wanted an LA Girl with a full head of hair but I always felt it was a shame to go over such a good hairstyle. But a bald one? Heck yeah full head of hair.

I was gonna use peach but then @poppyobsessed said he was gonna use bright red. And of course I had to steal that idea cuz I’m a sucker for reroots that match a certain colour on a doll’s facial screening.

I’ve had this fire engine red hair for like 5 years but it’s so bright and saturated I couldn’t bring myself to use it. But then it perfectly matches her red lipstick so ahead I went and rerooted her.

It does make me sad Mattel can’t produce nice quality doll faces anymore cuz LA Girl is one of my fav modern dolls and I adore customising her.

Another Linotopia homage. This time to another early Lino creation 'Leap Frog', a 1964 customised Chevrolet Impala 2-door Hardtop with hydraulic suspension.

In Lino's original he even included an electric motor-based jumping mechanism, which had a tendency to dismantle the car quite quickly - but a marvel nonetheless for our artistic, non-engineery leader.

Why is the Leap Frog homage here today?

As part of LUGNuts 6th birthday challenge, creatively named - 'LUGNuts 6th Anniversary', an opportunity to revisit any challenge from the past 12 months, or from any of the 71 previous build challenges. Here Leap Frog celebrates challenge 58, - 'Order by Numbers' to the sub-theme number 3 'Some Good ol' American Muscle', with a healthy dose of challenge 25, - 'I Wanna Be Like You'. It seems that when we originally ran challenge 25, everybody did really want to be like Lino, and it was a clear indication that his Lego automotive creations were highly respected, and held aloft as a highlight of artistic and creative subculture within Lego building, and a key attraction to the LUGNuts group.

Good stuff Lino!

Personally I have found in recreating the essence of a Lino-mobile, that the artistic process is really stretched (for me), and that the object becomes much more 'art' than the 'science' that I normally take into the exercise.
