CUSTOMISED HD IN FUERTAVENTURA

Customised footwear at Dublin's O'Devaney Gardens

The fabled Bedford JO was the smallest model of the TJ range.

New Zealand almost certainly had the bulk of the limited production run (1961-66), with many government department having considerable fleets of them. A fair number have survived but many have been either customised to varying degrees or exported to the UK, where they are favoured by nostalgic members of the travelling community. These vehicles are subjected to no-expense spared restorations and end up in better than new condition.

This particular example was seen roadside on the outskirts of Thames at the base of the Coromandel Peninsular. In common with just about all of the customised examles to be seen here in NZ, it has been re-powered with a V8 engine mated to an automatic gearbox. The wider pattern wheels and tyres do not look too out of place and no "chop-job" has been done to the cab! The steel-channel bumper, "Roo Bar" and sun visor are normal Antipodean accessories for a JO and make for a not unpleasant blending of originality and tasteful customisation.

Heavily customised might be a better description.

MSJ187 essentially dates from 1947.

It now has a V8 3528cc Petrol engine.

Finally finished, sanded and oiled. My favourite custom job yet!

Customised pump detail, a Zéfal HPX that used to be black.

All the black coating and plastic can be removed as long as you leave a little bit of the end cap, that silly "lock switch" I never use. Hope this answers your questions Gerhard.

My sons converse ... They didn't have exactly what he wanted in the shop so he went on to the Converse website and designed his own!

A commissioned custom of the enjoyable to customise Bossy Bear by David Horvath.

I have a lot of info on this little one that will have to remain under lock, key and high security beams but I will say she's built a very nice little word on her bonce to nurture that little guy up there.

This is my last physical commission of the year but thanks to anyone who's kept me ticking along with any purchases, commissions or very kind emails.

Sadly I have no commission time available until around late February but any emails or flickr messages are still kind and very welcome :)

CUSTOMISED INSTRUCTIONS PENDING

Please DM if interested in a customised set of instructions in 1:15 (Creator Expert / Icons) scale.

No doubt those in Lego and Ford Bronco circles would have seen the AI-generated model posted as a reel on instagram by @blueridgeaccessories. A great looking model for sure, among a bunch of other AI-generated models.

As a designer of Lego Broncos myself, I took a long, hard look at what the computer created, and wondered if it could indeed be translated into a real build.

Took some doing, but I present here the Gen ! in 1:15 scale. I plan to create instructions - customisable, as with my other Bronco projects, in the near future. Please DM if interested. Or contact me on Instagram @buildmybrickbronco

At this point I would also like to recognise the Lego model builders whose work was likely used to train the AI:

Stars dig deep for Christian Aid Week

David Shrigley, Tali Lennox, Alan Titchmarsh and TOWIEâs Lydia Bright are among a host of famous names who have used their creative talents to support this yearâs Christian Aid Week. Over 15 stars have customised gardening tools, which will be displayed in a Soho pop-up shop from 14 â 19 May and auctioned at www.ebay.co.uk/christianaid.

The theme of the fundraising week is âgive the tools to help people in poverty out of povertyâ, and Christian Aid is hoping the celebrity decorated tools will raise vital funds for its work in countries such as Sierra Leone. The shop at 63 Broadwick Street, adjacent to Carnaby Street, will be open from 10 â 7pm daily to give the public a chance to view these unique items, which range from watering cans and gardening gloves to wellies and herb pots.

The one-off celebrity items that will be up for auction include:

Model, Tali Lennoxâs watering can

Fashion designer, Katharine Hamnettâs wellies Artist, David Shrigleyâs wellies

Actress, Jill Halfpennyâs trowel

Garden designer, Rachel de Thameâs dibber Rapper, Professor Greenâs wire brush

Designer of the Year, Lee Broomâs wheelbarrow Comedian, Andi Oshoâs strawberry pot

Made in Chelsea star, Oliver Proudlockâs spade Singer, Lemarâs watering can

Actor, Kris Marshallâs mini gardening set Garden designer, Alan Titchmarshâs pruners TOWIE star, Lydia Brightâs mini watering can Actress, Donna Airâs broom

Garden designer, Charlie Dimmockâs tool

Boy band, Lawsonâs flower pots

Model, Suki Waterhouseâs brush

Actress, Kara Tointonâs herb pots

Singer, VV Brownâs paint brush

One of the stars involved is young British model, Tali Lennox. Daughter of singer and humanitarian, Annie Lennox, Tali is no stranger to charity work. She recently travelled to Sierra Leone, one of the worldâs poorest countries where around half the population depend on agriculture, as a Christian Aid Week ambassador. There, Tali visited communities that have already benefited from Christian Aid funds and heard how war torn communities, who faced a daily battle

against malnutrition after the multinational food companies fled during the war, were left with no tools or equipment to farm.

Tali said: âThis was the first time I got to see how small changes can transform lives in such a big way. People are being provided with the kinds of things we in the UK would take for granted. The country has so much potential. They just need the right tools, and thatâs where the donations have been so vital.â

This year there is an even greater focus on fundraising as the first £5million donated to Christian Aid Week 2012 will be matched by the Government pound for pound, allowing the charity to help more people in poor communities around the world work their way out of poverty.

Karen Lobo-Morell, Christian Aid, said: âItâs fantastic to have so many stars using their creative talents to support Christian Aid Week. Buying a watering can decorated by Lemar or a pair of wellies customised by Katherine Hamnett will mean people can not only own a great one-off, but will be helping poor communities around the world. Millions of people rely on subsistence agriculture to feed their families and they just want to be given the tools to work their way out of poverty. We want as many people as possible to come down to the shop and check out what our stars have created.â

To donate to Christian Aid Week, give online at www.caweek.org, call 08080 006 006 or text âGIVEâ to 78866 to give £5.

Christian Aid would like to thank Shaftsbury Estate for the kind donation of the shop, Hunter for donating the boots decorated by Katharine Hamnett and David Shrigley, Next Model Management and eBay for support with the special auction.

This mildy-customised Scania 143M Streamline is probably the closest that I will come to producing a custom truck. Scania owners seem to be particularly proud of the marque and the large lion and crown ('king of the Road') logo is a popular embellishment. The chrome exhaust stack is an after-market addition. Thanks again to Martin Vonk for the base image of this left-hand drive 143M (18-Feb-16).
