THE POWWOW—YESTERDAY AND TODAY

“The Indian pictured above is Curly Jim, for years a familiar

figure on Spokane streets. He often sat for hours in front of the old Trader’s Bank Building, one of Spokane’s busiest corners. A member of the Spokane tribe, he was friendly to the whites in the Indian Wars. The occasion for the cartoon was a civic carnival, called a powwow, during which parades passed the spot where the old redskin sat. To the Indians a powwow was a get-together at which magic rites were performed.”

From the June 16, 1913 issue of The Spokesman–Review. Cartoon by William C. Morris.

I chose my Curly Leaves Pattern to weave, for the Etsy Beadweavers- Heal the World June Challenge, as it fits perfect into these theme and one I was dying to bead.

I chose this design to bring awareness, of what, we can do to protect or natural resources: water, land and trees. Just by recycling and being conservative in our use of these natural resources, will go along way to protecting them and heal those that are close to depletion.

I weaved it in these specific colors blue (water), a light brown (land) and the leaves on this design depicted the trees and vegetation of our beautiful World.

Right before leaving Bangkok....my hair got crazy curly.

for Austin Group discussion post: curly

I did this one to every girl that already realized that she does not need to have straight hair to feel pretty because curly hair is also cool! Actually, I think curly is AWESOME! :)

This is a stunning, 3-piece Curly Maple Gibson Copy RB-18 neck of unknown age or origin with a compound radius ebony fingerboard that starts off at a 12" at the first fret and ends at 15" at the 22nd fret and (I THINK) stainless steel frets as no fret wear is detectable. This banjo neck comes with a 5/8" Timeless Timber bridge that has a 16" Radius pictured.

It has an ebony fingerboard and headstock overlay. The overlay is bound like a Gibson RB-18 and he genuine mother of pearl inlay is also that of a Gibson RB-18 style. The builder did a fine job with the white/black/white binding and the heel cap.

This banjo neck is equipped with a two way truss rod. The neck is straight and true.

Until I find gold top tension hardware, This neck is going on this prewar TB-1.

My new fabulous haircut!!
