This stunning piece of soft curly maple really turned out to be a great peppermill. Add some opulence to not only your next dinner party but every meal with this very functional piece of art.
Here's another thing that caught my eye a little while ago and I finally found time to capture its pleasing curves.
Yarn: 4 balls: Zegna Baruffa (that's the brand) Maratona (that's the name of the yarn) 100% Extra Fine Merino 121 yards... It's extinct
2 balls Reynolds Odyssey for the edging (AKA I ran out of yarn before binding off)
Needles: a LOT of Size 9 circulars. The scarf is made by increasing and increasing until you have a buttload of stitches on the needles. I finally felt most comfortable using two 60 inch addi circulars as single point needles.
Pattern: Ribbon Scarf from Handknit Holidays
Would I make it again? All the stitches became a PITA at the end, but now that I have the right needles, I would probably make a few more. I like the effect and it's an easy pattern to keep track of.
I have plenty of new photos that I need to process, but I picked these two that were already ready to be shared. The second shot is a closer view of the "curly".
This was taken in the summer of 2013. That was the summer of garden photography as I was recovering from arthroscopic hip surgery. The garden was easily accessible and generated lots of interesting subjects like this curly cucumber plant. It is fascinating how they curl, climb and intertwine themselves in the tomato cages nearby.
This year's crop of cucumbers is coming on strong, fed by the massive amounts of rain we've seen in our area.
My wife asked me to take some photos for a collection book that she is putting together, highlighting the work she does with curly hair. Jo was first in line. Photos taken downtown Grand Rapids.

Hi Curly!!!! Other than my morgan, I dont think I have ever seen a curly haired horse. I always saw this one from a distance and thought she was always muddy but today she got pretty close to me and I noticed her hair-do :o)
