This Installation is an alternative to the traditional electronic gig formula incorporating animation, sound, live performance, spatial design and a lot of smoke. The audience will journey through an ever-changing maze of darkness.

Hi there, friends. After a somehat extended hiatus from flickr (flickrlude? flickrmission? flickrcation? flickruption?), I thought I would start things off with a liberal dose of narcissism. That's right, it's all about me...
Me and my pictures, that is. During all this time I did have a chance to take a few photographs. But I'm only now getting around to culling and editing and posting them.
Cryptic writing found when we stripped the paint from the brick pillar in our basement. Was our home a den of beatniks? Hippies?

Cryptic, prolific, and free-flowing, the roots reggae band known as Midnite are a hard nut to crack, but for many, it’s well worth it. Their rabid fan base will find their 2011 release Treasure is just what it says on the cover, which in turn makes a fine introduction for newcomers too, especially since this Misty in Roots-styled band doesn’t deliver the kind of simple, singalong reggae that makes compiling “best-ofs” easy. Think shamanistic vocals over wandering dub and you’ve got the general picture. Here, key track “Rastafari Now” is about as accessible it gets, easy skanking and slowly rolling as leader and vocalist Vaughn Benjamin does free association with history’s atrocities, calling out demons and villains like Hitler and Mussolini. Any more explanation would take a rather large essay, which is precisely the magic of Benjamin’s songwriting, as he packs some incredibly big ideas into songs that are small and humble. Dig this one and you’ve got some 30 other albums to devour, since Midnite average about four releases per year. Treasure stands among their best and is an easy indicator of whether your mystic reggae appetite is ravenous enough for this enigmatic act. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi
Fowler's toad looks similar to the more nocturnal American toad, though slightly smaller and with several subtle distinguishing features: 3 or more warts within each dark spot on its back (an American toad having 1 or 2 warts in each dark spot), no greatly enlarged warts on the tibia, and the parotoid gland touching the cranial crests behind the eyes [the gland secretes a milky alkaloid substance, bufotoxin, to deter predators; it acts as a neurotoxin] – the two species often hybridize and an extreme amount of variability exists in both throughout their expansive geographic range

Landsford Canal State Park, SC – 2019JUN04 – Shoals Spider Lily:
I've long wanted to see the largest known stand of the rocky shoals spider lily in peak bloom on the Catawba River, Number One on the Landsford Canal State Park's Top 5 Things To Do.
Today we drove into South Carolina just to see those spider lilies!
We also explored the Canal Trail and read the interpretive text along the path to understand the incredible work done on the trail by 1820s standards. "Next time" we want to paddle the shoals and appreciate the power of a piedmont, fall line river.
Hope you enjoy the 14% of 144 photos we took here this day!
Lurking on a dead sumpweed seed stalk. Might be some kind of cryptic orb weaver, genus cryptaranea, but not certain.
There must always be a cryptic present clue from Mum. This time she created a "worm farm" by cutting up kitchen scraps and adding noodles she had cooked in soy sauce & red wine!
This is one of the several hundred larvae of Cicindela scutellaris I have in captivity right now. Taxonomically these would be called Cicindela scutellaris scutellaris x scutellaris lecontei x scutellaris rugata. I'm not certain if this form even occurs in the wild, but if so it should be in Arkansas.
