This is a cropped view of the adjacent image so that you can see the proboscis more clearly as the butterfly reaches into the blossom of the flower. If you look closely, you can see the second antenna going behind the blossom in a 2 o'clock direction.

I was on the ferry in dock at Lopez when I popped off some shots of the reasonably common local cormorants, which nevertheless have to date defied any good photographs.

Being quite far away, even my 70-210mm on a cropped sensor gave me only a very environmental shot, which had little compositional interest.

Bring on the cropping!

I had to carve away so much that of the original 12 megapixels, only 1.3 remained. It is a credit to the Nikon D300 that it still looks as crisp and detailed as it does.

Sunday.

The ice on the lake is covered with snow and it was w-i-n-d-y today. Every once in a while the wind would gust and the snow would kick up. It was gorgeous. And cold.

I almost never crop to odd sizes, but I looked up, saw the snow cloud, flipped up the camera and shot. It was *not* a perfect shot. I like the snow cloud though.

The view from Marie Antoinette overlook over the bend of the Susquehanna River reveals an interesting crop pattern. They plant crops in 100 foot strips. The corn leaves ground exposed, but the grass catches the water, decreasing erosion. Ditches catch all the runoff and direct it to the river. The trees grow in the ditches to slow everything down. Everything with a purpose!

In this version, I changed the photo's proportions to 7x5, a more common (and therefore pleasing) size. I also tried to alter the composition by following the rule of thirds and used Photoshop to sharpen things up a little bit.

Pelavin Gallery is pleased to announce an exhibition of new work by Timothy Paul Myers, titled The Ontario Ration. In celebration of Pelavin Gallery ’s thirty year anniversary, in January 2011, Myers bases this exhibition on a found business ledger chronicling the last thirty-years of an egg farmer named Myron B. Johnson, circa 1899-1929. This will be Myers first solo exhibition at the gallery.

Repetition and the use of unlikely materials—two prominent themes in Myers' work—continue to be displayed in this exhibition, as Myers makes use of hundreds of pages from a thirty-year business ledger of Myron B. Johnson, circa 1899-1929; one-thousand trading cards, circa 1900s-1930s; and one-hundred-thousand stacked pencil pieces individually topped with a single drop of acrylic paint from the artist's palette of over one-hundred-fifty hand-mixed colors.

Trabalhou no Banco Nacional Ultramarino. Contudo, esteve sempre próximo do meio académico.

This shot was cropped to only focus on the mother and child. Notice the slow shutter speed, the hands clapping were blurred.
