Bringing fictional creatures into existence within a live art and theatrical context.
Creature is a cross-disciplinary project led by SDNA in collaboration with pioneering digital media artists, neuro-scientists, electronic musicians, dancers and physical performers, and explores the ways in which we can bring fictional creatures into existence within a live art and theatrical context. Sydney artist Daniel Muscat (aka Creaturisticart) explores various techniques to highlight his conceptual style ‘creatures’. Originally coming from a beach town in Jervis Bay down the South Coast, he enjoys exploring various concepts that contrast his personal experiences.
My art is focused around characters which I call 'creatures', and depict an exaggerated form and thought process of the human face which conceptually highlights a psychological journey of my self expression.
I highlight concepts of life and death, mainly focusing on rebirth. Through this timeline I focus on my sexuality and personal experiences through life; highlighting the closure and insecurities of what I once held to the anxieties I have to this day. Once we come out of our shell we become reborn. Through the masks like creatures I contrast a thought and unrealistic realm. This realm is what we develop in our mind. Our mind is focused on different opinions, thoughts, ideas, beliefs, concepts - I develop these into horrifying alien like beings of what I call 'creatures'.
'Release the Creatures' is my first exhibition and a collection of works highlighting my characteristic style. You are able to watch my art on my Facebook and Instagram.
