Day 319 - tiny creatures

From a series to catalogue the latest sock creatures made by my wife. Strobist info: SB800 camera left through a grid and another from the right to open up the shadows a bit, as with real animals they can stand harsh light not having any shiny surfaces and I liked the hard shadows that resulted.

horseshoe crab, May 16, 2008, Boston New England Aquarium

Habitat: under rocks deep in the forest

Superpower: B-Skitty’s tail can create fire (unlike his brothers who have healing tails)

Favourite thing: Flies (and all flying objects)

I am always looking for pictures of Abby that show about equal parts black and white. She appears in danger of tickling her own nose with her tail.

Bringing fictional creatures into existence within a live art and theatrical context.

Creature is a cross-disciplinary project led by SDNA in collaboration with pioneering digital media artists, neuro-scientists, electronic musicians, dancers and physical performers, and explores the ways in which we can bring fictional creatures into existence within a live art and theatrical context. The first stage of research focused on the exploration of the ideal conditions needed for the human imagination to conjure visions of a “Creature.”
