PARADE PREVIEW TO ROCK COVENT GARDEN
Global Performers to Show London Loves Life
London is set to give the World a sneak peak of the New Year’s celebrations - with a series of whirlwind performances in Covent Garden Piazza on Monday (December 30th – 12 Noon).
Samba dancers, Mexican folk singers, no less than 3 US marching bands, giant dinosaurs – and Britain’s Got Talent stars are among hundreds of performers lifting the lid on what’s on offer at the turn-of-year tradition.
More than 8,000 performers from numerous nations are gathering in London to entertain the World at London’s New Year’s Day Parade 2020.
More than 500,000 spectators are expected to attend the 34th parade – which is themed ‘London Loves Life’.
The parade proper on January 1st runs from Piccadilly to Parliament Sq via Regent St St James’, Pall Mall, Trafalgar Sq and Whitehall.
Those appearing at the preview (in order of appearance):

Executive Director Bob Bone said: “London is just bursting with energy, creativity and …. life. We want to show the World just how much joie de vivre we have to offer – and share it around on such a joyous occasion.
“We give the opportunity for London boroughs and all the performers to step out on a global platform, entertain the World, radiate their true spirit and raise a tremendous amount of money for charity in the process.”
The parade, on January 1st, is being shown live on more than 180 stations in the USA and on London Live in the UK.

Mugaritz has cultivated relationships with chemists, microbiologists and neuroscientists to deepen their understanding of the chemical aspects of food. During a visit to MIT in 2014 that was initiated by Pedro Reis, Gilbert W. Winslow Associate Professor, Mechanical Engineering and Civil and Environmental Engineering, the Mugaritz team focused on the structure of materials—something that is central to the expertise of the engineers at MIT. Chefs from Mugaritz’s Research and Development team presented their work in a lecture and demonstration,“Mugaritz, a natural science of cooking: senses, structures, textures and emotions,” which was part of the MMEC (Mechanics: Modelling, Experimentation, Computation) seminar series and co-sponsored by CAST, and they met with faculty working on the mechanics of fluids, materials and structures.
On November 2, 2016, Chef Andoni Luis Aduriz and others from Mugaritz joined MIT faculty for a forum on creativity across disciplines and to screen the 2015 documentary about the restaurant, Off-Road: Mugaritz, Feeling a Way.
