Sunset in the Thar desert of Rajasthan is something out of this world, the sand turns to gold and the soft light from the setting sun brings out the incredible colours of the traditional dresses. I highly recommend spending a night or two in a desert camp and explore the Sam dunes on camelback.
To make this photograph, I placed my model on top of a dune, while I composed low. As she faced the setting sun, the soft light allowed the colors of her dress to really pop.

Naoshima Island is home to the Benesse Art Site. Based on the concept of coexistence among nature, architecture, and art, the complex, intended to blend increasingly into the natural environment of Setonaikai National Park as the years go by, was entirely designed by Tadao Ando. Contemporary art is displayed not only within the museum galleries, but also in all parts of the buildings and surrounding area. It is a place where people can explore art, nature, architecture, and their own thoughts in a multi-layered and synergistic fashion. Fortunate guests can stay overnight, and take their artistic immersion to a whole different level! I captured my first Japanese sunrise from the terrace, which seemed to extend all the way to the horizon.

Komboloi (or kompoloi) is a part of modern Greek culture, used to relieve stress and generally pass the time. It was especially popular up to the end of the 20th century while now it has dropped in popular use. It's still though considered a traditional trademark of Greek (and especially rembetiki) culture and a niche.
Komboloi worry beads resemble prayer beads, but, unlike them, bear no religious significance. They are merely an instrument of relaxation and stress management. In modern times komboloi is also used by people who want to limit smoking.
The origin of the Greek komboloi is debated. It may derive from the komboskini used by Orthodox monks or the Islamic Misbaha. Armenians also have their own worry beads which serve the same purpose as the komboloi and are also non-religious in nature.
Komboloi can be handled in many different ways. The most common are a quiet method, for indoors, and a noisier method that is acceptable in public places. The most common quiet method is to start at one end of the thread or chain, near the shield, and to pull the thread forward using that hand's thumb and the side of the index finger until one of the beads is reached. Then the cord is tipped so that the bead falls and hits the shield. This is repeated until all the beads have been tipped and then the user starts over.
The second, louder, method is to divide the beads in to two groups. On one end is the shield and a small number of the beads. On the other end is the rest of the beads. Where the two threads are empty, that space is laid between the index and middle fingers. The hand should be in a position where the palm is facing the torso. Then the end behind the hand is swung up and forward so that it hits the other beads, making a noise. The threads are then switched back into the space between the index and middle fingers by holding the threads between the thumb and the side of the index finger. This is repeated rhythmically, creating a louder clicking noise than the quiet method. An easier and soothing method is to hold all of the komboloi in one hand and roll the beads against each other, creating soft clicking sounds.
A more modern version of these worry beads continues to gain increasing popularity. Sometimes called wigglers, these simple strings of beads can be used in a number of ways, including both one- and two-handed methods that involve rapidly wiggling the beads in various directions. Fans claim that wiggling the beads creates a rush of adrenaline, followed by a soothing, calm sensation.

Long exposure of a lone burnt tree, in what was once a lush forest in the maintains surrounding Alicante. A devastating fire raged through a few years before, and this tree was somehow left standing, perhaps a reminder of what once stood on these slopes. It's so unfortunate and upsetting that many of these fires are intentional to profit from the land reconversion, a crime that usually goes unpunished.

While exploring the Arabian Desert outside the Al Maha Resort, I came across this camel caravan traveling back to camp. I jumped out of the Land Cruiser and raced to the front of the caravan to compose against the setting sun. This is the Dubai Desert Conservation Reserve (DDCR), UAE’s first national park. It's a protected environment for the last of the desert wildernesses, setup to preserve its unique and beautiful desert habitat, and the many threatened flora and fauna species within. If you ever travel to Dubai, I highly recommend checking out this amazing initiative.

From a cracked shell, life emerges.
Not as a miracle, but as a promise.
The egg, symbol of fragility and origin,
cradles the color of the sun in a simple flower.
Among what is broken, possibility blooms.
And the small, the forgotten, the humble…
becomes beauty when seen through a different lens.

Canal of Brussels
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
Canal of Brussels - its day to day career
Chasing waves of windblown rattling gear
Outstanding reflection throughout the year
Motions of endless streams going from here to there
Colors of days inside every fare
Flooding on water in picturing blear
Every wave is playing so mild and near
Thru mounts of time streaming in channel stair
Rushing like heart beats thru alongside roads
Giving and taking each contentment free
Full of its moments in its busy loads
Times in steps are coming on to be
Battled scattered street time and volunteers on go
All its recruits like water shining glow

Angel (Sonnet 14)
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
With a mind and a face of an angel,
She toned each my feelings with affection;
Letting on me, fragile kind of marvel,
And showing me the straightest direction.
To the castles in the mystified air,
Where the desiring rainbow crosses through;
And we sometimes do fly away to there,
When we feel down, and are exposed and blue.
All the ways of grace she showed then to me,
With viewpoint to courage and to be kind;
How easy it is then to become free,
If all worries are left forgotten behind.
This angel is sweet creature so divine,
Everything else a shadow, to her shine.
Music is in the air ♪ ♫

A Flight Service Station (FSS) uses special flight frequencies in its air traffic facility that provides information and services to aircraft pilots during and after flights.
The people who communicate with pilots from an FSS are referred to as flight specialists and sometimes called 'air traffic controllers' and Air Traffic Control (ATC) is responsible for giving instructions and separation clearances.

You Are My Sunflower
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
You are my sunflower
On every rainy day
When golden shine shower
Comes pouring down my way
And tomorrow shall be
Something we look for
Whatever for you and me
That open's a times door
A love song of distance
To carry us further on
And giving opportunities chance
Before our summer is gone
Each love that we bring
Through the bouquets of love
That in our heart shall sing
When rainclouds are far above
You are my sunflower
And you make me believe
Every minute and hour
There’s somewhere relieve
From worlds worrying heart
And the aloofness of war
For my feelings you'll start
From wherever you now are

I grew up in Puyméras, a small village of Provence, a place where the pace of life is quite different. Whenever I felt stressed, riding the crowded London tube to work, I just closed my eyes and drift back to the carefree days of my youth, if only for a few minutes, enough for my soul to take a deep breath. Photography helps me immortalize those moments of “fresh air”, taking me back in time, or to a different continent, and allowing my soul to breath again.

It was a very cold day in Belgium today. I found this precious
duo in a park in Brussels. These birds were amazingly colorful
and beautiful. It made a perfect contrast with the pale frozen
lake. The bird on the right is a Mandarin Duck. According to

became friends and stay together all the time. Lovely couple!

It is Freezing
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
It is freezing
We are going nowhere
Coldness in breezing
Gathering around here
We just walk the lake
On a frozen day
Together quack quack make
On our walking way
It is dark still
Even thou its noon
And a bit more chill
Is coming in soon
We together are close
Friends indeed are we
As the bitter grows
Winter becomes breezy
It is sub-zeros
Or so men have told
All of us are heroes
That to hope must hold
And we are never lonely
If we together are
One for each here only
Below a brightly star
... of flowers and a few bits and bobs making my "still-life."

You Talkin' to Me?
A poem by Katie Gabrielle
Are you talking to me?
With your nose up in the air
Do you think that I care
What you got to say
If you can't say something
Nice to me
Then please go away.
I may be an ass
Or a mule in donkey's guise
But I have a heart that cries
Just take a look at my eyes
Are you talking to me?
Then say something sweet
Talk about candy and music
That's sweet!
Don't try to be cool
Because I know better
Talking is like living
It's all in the giving.
Are you talking to me?
Then say something good
Then maybe I 'll say
Something worth saying
And that's all I gotta say!
I'm just a mule in donkey's
Guise. Some call me an
Ass but I know better.
Are you talking to me?
As a blizzard hit London today, I couldn't help but remember the beautiful snowscapes of Colorado, so pure, covering up any man-made marks, almost making them disappear, such as this small boat dock at Nicholson Lake, almost undiscernable under the thick blanket of snow.

Every year, the Serpentine Gallery unveils a new pavilion design, inviting an architect to reimagine the space. Last summer, the Serpentine Pavilion was designed by Dane Bjarke Ingels using one of the most basic elements of architecture as its inspiration – the brick wall. In Ingels’ version, it’s being creatively unzipped from the bottom up so it opens into a public space. Made of fibreglass frames stacked on top of each, the pavilion takes a new dimension for every angle you look at it, both from the outside as from the inside. The architecture allowed for some pretty creative compositions!

I've photographed this house many times. It is very unique and I wonder if there is a spiral staircase in the tower.
Working right next to City of London's Barbican complex, is such a treat!!! The area is a prominent example of 1970s British brutalist architecture, redeveloping an area devasted by WWII bombings. The concrete estate consists of several tower blocks, terraces, grouped around a lake and green squares. Today, the estate also hosts The Barbican Centre, the largest performing arts center of its kind in Europe. Every day, as I commute between the concrete buildings, I never cease to be amazed by photographic opportunities and creative compositions offered by this type of architecture!

I captured this long exposure on the Spanish Mediterranean coast, near Alicante. In order to smooth the water and get cloud movement, I had to expose for 4 minutes. How can you expose for that long during the day you might ask? I had to use a 10 stop Neutral Density filter (Lee BigStopper) to darken the scene and therefore expose longer. This allows you get really creative, especially where there is moving water around rocks, like this little wave breaker protecting a small cove. You can really sense the passing of time against the stillness of the rocks...

More facts: The National Archaeological Museum in Athens houses some of the most important artifacts from a variety of archaeological locations around Greece from prehistory to late antiquity. It is considered one of the great museums in the world and contains the richest collection of artifacts from Greek antiquity worldwide. It is situated in the Exarhia area in central Athens between Epirus Street, Bouboulinas Street and Tositsas Street while its entrance is on the Patission Street adjacent to the historical building of the Athens Polytechnic.

The Hour of Madness
A poem by Mark Prime
This is the hour of madness.
This is the thirst that waits without minutes.
This is the hour of thirst and hunger and madness.
This is the jackal that paces in the hour of thirst and hunger and madness.
This is our maddening choice.
This is the selection on our maddening time-pieces.
This is the moment of occasional sanity, the flies on the child’s face,
The hour of our madness.
This is the lanced beast and the whimper of freedom,
The cry of whales, the laughter of maddened swine,
the grief of hours, days and years.
This is the waste of affection’s reach, the death, if you will,
of this second, this minute, this day, this year, this time of madness
in the world, like the previous, that erupted in howling, hands around the neck
like a buoy snarled in razor-sharp hooks left behind by the hunters,
those earlier inheritors without breath or reason.
This is the waiting, the grey harbinger navigating the water,
waiting for someone to come along… and remember.
Okunoin is Japan's largest cemetery. The sense of place quite overwhelming. As I followed the path through the sacred forest, I couldn't help but feel peace and tranquillity while observing the more than 200,000 stone stupas of all shapes and sizes scattered all around, along with a few Jizō statues and the occasional war memorial. A large number of historical characters are also buried here, among them the great general Oda Nobunaga.
