This is the Gate House at the entrance of Expo New Mexico. I like the Adobe Style architecture.

Just like life, surfing is a journey full of ups and downs, full of lessons learned along the way that make us continually humbled.
Surfing mirrors life where balance is an ongoing process of constant adjustment and alignment. Not every moment is ripe for action.

Well, probably not and if anything like me the man in front will be happy for the peace and quiet!

A flower of Cosmos bipinnatus, a Mexican herbaceous annual from the Asteraceae family, registered at the Ponte de Lima International Garden Festival. Recognized for its delicate feathery leaves and daisy-like flowers in shades of pink, white, red or purple, this ornamental plant is valued for its ease of cultivation in well-drained soils and for its prolonged flowering from summer to autumn. The name “Cosmos” evokes the harmony of its symmetrical petals. The species is appreciated in Portuguese gardens not only for its aesthetic beauty, but also for its ecological role, attracting pollinating insects such as bees and butterflies and promoting biodiversity. Since 2005, the Ponte de Lima Festival has been promoting the art of gardens and the creative use of botanical species, such as Cosmos bipinnatus, in innovative and sustainable landscape compositions.

Silver Leaves
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
Silver leaves
In frozen snow
Winter retrieves
Those come and go
Beautiful hours
In cold liberty
Icy laid flowers
For you and me
Moments of giving
Before bygone
In days living
Here on and on
Everything’s falling
Like those gold
Oblivion calling
Nothing can hold
On to yesterday
Themes are playing
Tones somber lay
Nothing long staying
Hold to memories
Breezy time brief
Like wind in trees
And a falling leaf

We were on our way to Long Is. NY and went through Binghamton, NY on the way. There was a lot of construction going on at this time.
Here she is, that naughty Elf, lying in the snow making 'snow angels'....
Just some fun this Christmas week...
Have a fabulous Christmas...

Last summer, we took advantage of a bank holiday and escaped the capital city to spend the day in Oxford, known worldwide as the home of the University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world.
I made this image of the punting boats at Magdalen Bridge Boathouse on the River Cherwell, just before they were hired away by the queuing tourist.

Cryogenized
A poem by Katie Gabrielle
Cryogenized
Homogenized
Supersized
Ice Baby Ice
Stuck Leaf
Nature Thief
Wait Wait
Says Fate
Until the Spring Thaw
Impatient Season
There's a reason
The river's frozen
While you're dozin
Wake up leaf
Winter's thief
Get unstuck
What the f***
Nature's mystery
Will be history
Pretty soon
You silly loon

These crocuses were really tiny, a few centimeters may be. I used a simple 70 mm lens but enhanced the whole image in Photoshop CS4 afterwards. Several hours of work to get the results I wanted (better focus & details, better colors, better framing...).
There is no specific meaning in this image. The main thing I wanted to express when I took the photos is the way fragile little things can appear big and strong sometimes, and beautiful of course. A modest ode to Mother Nature.

To Life
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
I love the tiny little flowers
Those that come freshly in spring
In the stunning newly hours
That newborn summer bring
In their colors white and yellow
The little seedlings in the snow
With their rising saying hello
Like first of sunrise glow
I love every little bouquet
That grows in the garden’s bed
And I don’t winter regret
With its snowy wingspread
Or its darkness in icy cold
That nothing will give to wake
And no touch of love can hold
By moonlight at the lake
I love all the little crocuses
That shall bring new Ester in
When early spring focuses
On its shading tints spin
With each newly growth of living
That dances in freshly gust
The earth is again giving
To life in new robust
4 year old Stella began to carefully position the toothpicks into the clay. "Look a spikey line," she announced. She continued, seemingly enjoy the sensation of piercing the soft clay with the point sticks.
She later continued, announcing, "I'm making a spikey line, you can get in but you can't get out! It's a spooky, spikey line!“

I made this nocturnal long exposure in a small cove on the Spanish coast, close to Alicante. Taking photos at night totally different than during the day. You are a lot less impulsive, and take the time to carefully compose your shot, using light (natural and added) to create something interesting. It may take you a few tries to get everything right, but once all the elements come together, a piece of art emerges...

I can't believe I'm in London for this, but social distancing guidelines are still in effect, so everyone is celebrating in their own way from home, from watching the Red Arrows fly over the capital to having virtual quiz parties with friends. Tonight the Queen addresses the nation, at the same time that her father King George VI gave his radio address back in 1945. After the Queen's Speech, a singalong will take place of Vera Lynn's "We'll Meet Again", which has once again become a symbol of hope for Britons during the coronavirus pandemic.

Turn Back To My Dream
A poem by Peter S. Quinn
Turn back to my dream
From your realities of sparkless night
Where its veracity always seem
Lost in its shadowed flight
Everything is out to play
Given if it's of child's fairytales
Coming through dark woods in its ray
Holy like the holiest of grails
A dream to take notice of and believe
When everything is downhill going
It shall take away your grieve
Around its sun and moon haloing
Bring every light through afar
Dance on the waves
Of the Milky Ways circular motion
Give you a wish from its falling star
Anything man craves
From the depth of the deepest ocean
I can't believe it's been almost 2 years since my last trip to Cuba... Can't wait for these challenging times to pass and get back! This was shot in front of the Capitolio, still under refurbishment after 5 years. With so many big hotels opening around the Parque Central, the classic car drivers have setup their camp there to catch all the tourist. Outside the city center, hiring a local "maquina" is still by far the cheapest way to get around. The business of taxi hires is still going strong with an estimated 60,000 of them, but the road ahead is full of uncertainties as the local economy adjusts after the collapse of Cuba' main fuel supplier, Venezuela.

Naoshima Island is home to the Benesse Art Site. Based on the concept of coexistence among nature, architecture, and art, the complex, intended to blend increasingly into the natural environment of Setonaikai National Park as the years go by, was entirely designed by Tadao Ando. Contemporary art is displayed not only within the museum galleries, but also in all parts of the buildings and surrounding area. It is a place where people can explore art, nature, architecture, and their own thoughts in a multi-layered and synergistic fashion. Fortunate guests can stay overnight, and take their artistic immersion to a whole different level! I captured my first Japanese sunrise from the terrace, which seemed to extend all the way to the horizon.

Considered one of the top three sites in all of Japan, the Itsukushima Torii appears to float when observed at high tide, adding to the sense of place of this incredible and sacred shrine.
The key elements seemed to come together, the light, the tide, the sky, the clouds... I managed to pull a 30 second exposure at mid-day using a 10-stop neutral density filter, along with a 0.3 soft graduated filter, smoothing out the water and capturing the slight movement of the clouds.

The Blackfriars Railway Bridge crosses the River Thames in London, between Blackfriars Bridge and the Millennium Bridge. Built of wrought iron in 1886, it was originally called St Paul's Railway Bridge until St Paul's railway station changed its name to Blackfriars in 1937.
Every time I pass under it, I pause to admire the symmetry of its massive arches. Today, the light reflecting off the surface of the river gave it a special glow that really caught my eye.

This is Willow Creek, it's about an 8 minute drive down the road. I love to stop here and take a few photos of it any time of year. I think it's such a pretty place to visit.
captured through the mirrored surface of a water channel, a photographer friend gazes upward, lost in thought. the reflections play tricks with reality, creating a visual symmetry that splits the frame in two, while maintaining a dynamic sense of movement. the modern architecture above him, with its clean lines and geometric shapes, contrasts with the human element, grounding the image in both the urban and the contemplative. this is a moment of introspection, suspended between reflection and reality, light and shadow, captured through a unique perspective that invites the viewer to look deeper.
