Pine Creek Falls is one of many waterfalls in the Knobs Region of Kentucky, a horseshoe-shaped wall of steep knobs that buffers the undulating grass hills of the Bluegrass Region, famous for its horse farms. Just a few miles away from here in this eastern section of the unique Knobs Region of Kentucky, a mountainous Appalachian Plateau Region emerges with its ancient but vivacious beauty. But that is another story and image for another day.

One week into this trip, the weather finally gave us a break and honored us with this magnificent sunrise, witnessed from the terrace at the sublime Benesse House on Naoshima Island.

Hi' I've not been around much this week although I have been trying to keep up with all of your work.

Little Lily is in 'season' so, we can't do walkies at the moment. I'm keeping the dogs busy at home and playing outside in the garden with ball. The last thing I need is a male dog getting wind of Lily who is only 2.8kg, so I'm keeping her safe. Plus, I have been training... I'm back in full training at the gym as I was pre~covid. I would like to enter some things this year, unsure what yet, Covid depending of course, maybe a mud run or running challenge, but either way, after two years of not being at the gym and training at home its lovely to see humans and get inspiration again.

Here is a new Teapot I bought and was practising High Key with my Nikkor f1.2 manual lens.

Have a happy Tuesday.

I took delivery of a new Nikkor Z lens yesterday the 20mm f1.8, I want to do some astrophotography and it had a good 'write up' for that and landscape. Hoping for some low light pollution. I also want to get back out there and do some landscape photography again. It's raining here so I haven't had chance to use it yet.

Be careful where you walk, for you never know what you might see... Remember your garden toadstools are fairies secret rest places... Magic is all around us... KissThePixel2019

I saw this toadstool/mushroom/fungus in my woodland, I don't much about them to be honest, (obviously I know many are poisonous) I would love to find the classic red one with white spots 🍄 but this one was quite sturdy and perfectly shaped for this fun image and so I took one of my fairies and she sat perfectly in the magical light. Just a bit of creative and imaginative fun, hope you enjoy it, have a great Wednesday. Wishing you lots of magic and inspiration ~ KissThePixel2019

Playing with miniature pegs and very miniature wooden love hearts. I confess, on days out I look for tiny things, such as pegs, dolls house furniture, anything small, that I can use for fun macro photography. I have a vast collection of strange miniature things I have collected, including a bag of these wooden 'love hearts'. I used the string and pegs from the 2020 shoot for 'Smile on Saturday' group, I'd just finished photographing the 2020 theme on Friday afternoon and the sun had just started to set, the red bokeh in the background is actually a red leaved Yucca plant reflecting in the red sunset outside of my garden room window, the green is my garden grass, I focused in tightly and got the most beautiful bokeh from the light of the sunset and all the colours of leaves and grass. Wishing you a wonderful Saturday evening and fabulous Sunday ~ Debbie KissThePixel2020

Morning light highlights the fall colors.

The light was wonderful, I had just finished creating my other images with the Spring flowers and these colourful pegs. I then decided to stack the pegs in a fun way and hang them on the line, the Sun was just setting through my big old oak trees, no rhyme or reason to this image just simple fun and creativity with amazing light from the Sunset and soft warm bokeh, have a great Monday ~ KissThePixel2019

Sorry I havn't been on Flickr much the past two weeks, I have tried to keep up with your images as and when I get five minutes, it's been a busy few weeks with days out and time with my boys and the next two weeks we have birthdays, anniversaries, a few more days out, making the most of the last few weeks of Summer. Also, we have been harvesting vegetables and preparing the garden for Autumn, plus I have been doing a lot of creative dress making, designing and making my own clothes which is another passion of mine :)))

An accidental photograph, I was actually photographing some flowers, I put my glasses down to answer the phone without looking where I placed them. When I came back it looked like two eyes behind the lenses, so I set it up a bit more and hopefully made it look like funny comical eyes and this was the final image, hence to say I still have to finish doing some macro flowers :) ~ Debbie KissThePixel2020

Taking advantage of the British Bank Holiday and the magnificent weather, we escaped the capital city to spend the day in Oxford, known worldwide as the home of the University of Oxford, the oldest university in the English-speaking world.

I made this image of the punting boats at Magdalen Bridge Boathouse on the River Cherwell, just before they were hired away by the queuing tourist.

Dating back over three centuries, Kikugetsu-tei is a traditional Japanese sukiya-style teahouse that was used by successive generations of feudal lords. The origin of the name derives from a line in an old Chinese poem: "When I scoop up the water, I hold the moon in my hands.” This teahouse is the central building of the whole garden, and the view of the South Pond, as seen from the rooms of this teahouse, is a magnificent scene that can be experienced nowhere else…

I baked chocolate chip cookies for the humans ....

The two boys in my life asked why Daisy had had freshly baked cheese biscuits and I had not baked chocolate chip cookies for them, so, here they are ready to bake for their return home from work ~ KissThePixel2019

Debbies Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe:

150g salted butter, softened

50g light brown muscovado sugar

50g granulated sugar

2 tsp Pure Vanilla extract

1 large egg

200g plain flour

Milk chocolate chips

Cream butter and sugar together, add flour, egg and vanilla to form a dough, add the chocolate chips into the dough, roll out, use a festive cookie cutter and bake at 160 degrees for 10-12 minutes or depending on your oven.

(tip: before adding chocolate chips or chunks cover them in flour and shake off excess this prevents them from sinking to the bottom of the biscuit, you can do this for cakes too, chocolate chips/chunks bake evenly through cake or cookie if lightly dusted in flour)

This is a huge flat land to the west of Albuquerque. We see some of the most spectacular cloudscapes here!

Low angle framing of pigeons perched on an electric wire with a beautiful blue sky in background.

A humble yet significant creature embodies a spectrum of powerful symbolic representations in various cultures and contexts.

As a unity symbol, these gentle creatures represent the power of standing together, of finding strength in numbers while maintaining your individuality.

They teach us that true harmony comes from balancing personal peace with the broader community's wellbeing. Embracing the pigeon's message means cultivating an inner calm that withstands external chaos, making us a beacon of peace and harmony in a turbulent world.

The topic for Macro Mondays is Egg. I got this shot by breaking an egg and dropping it into a frying pan, and fortunately got the shot I wanted within half a dozen drops, which, along with some bacon I cooked up before hand, was just the right amount for breakfast. For lighting, I bounced a flash off a nearby white cabinet.

Also, see first comment below.

through the ripples of muddy water, i caught the texture of time — the layered hide of a creature that carries weight like silence. this isn't just a hippo; it’s a living sculpture, all curves and calluses, pressed into the world by gravity and sun. from this close, the skin becomes landscape — cracked earth, braided ridge, spiked tufts like dried brush in wind. i waited for the light to skim its back just right — not to reveal the beast, but to abstract it. this is how patience looks when it floats.

After a week of heavy rains and grey clouds, this entire week was pretty clear and pleasant. The golden light in the evening was adding extra beauty to the Sunset today. This is an indoor shot using the golden light!

I’m going to Blue Dimension

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

I’m going to blue dimension

Thru my own magic door

It’s truly a comprehension

And borderline of life’s seashore

In times on passing by

And giving its heart content

It opens to the blue sky

When feeling are in relent

It shows you the magic hours

And all that you can give

Its grass is of wild and flowers

That you on truly must live

To enjoy the moments they make

In magic that is passing on

When you from its dreams awake

It never is really gone

So open your blue dimension door

To see what is there inside

And what’s in your heart’s lore

In thoughts you did put aside

There are moments of their truth

In everything that we all do

It’s magic of infinity youth

As days come and get on thru

This old building sits on Lochgreen Golf Course ~ it's derelict but quite a feature on the golf course. I caught this shot, yesterday, after walking around to get what I considered the best view and having the trees within the shot worked better for me!

beneath a canopy of leaves, a figure dissolves into light and shadow — face gone, but presence unmistakable. the branches fold inward like a curtain, and what’s left is suggestion: of memory, of escape, of someone slowly becoming part of something older, quieter, and still.

Happy Mothers Day for this Sunday to all the wonderful women in the UK and the rest of the world even though I think its a UK 'Mothers Day' date.

These beautiful 'Candy Shop' Crochet Hooks are a gift from my Son for this Mothers Day.

They were something I've wanted for a while and they arrived today via courier from Texas USA. They are one of the best and most beautiful Crochet Hooks made by Furls FIBREARTS . I'm so excited to use them.

Happy Crocheting or happy crafting...

Have a wonderful weekend and Mothers Day...

There is something about an arching stem with a pendant flower that I find very appealing.

The mourning dove (Zenaida macroura) is a member of the dove family, Columbidae. The bird is also known as the American mourning dove, the rain dove, the chueybird, colloquially as the turtle dove, and it was once known as the Carolina pigeon and Carolina turtledove. It is one of the most abundant and widespread North American birds and a popular gamebird, with more than 20 million birds (up to 70 million in some years) shot annually in the U.S., both for sport and meat. Its ability to sustain its population under such pressure is due to its prolific breeding; in warm areas, one pair may raise up to six broods of two young each in a single year. The wings make an unusual whistling sound upon take-off and landing, a form of solation. The bird is a strong flier, capable of speeds up to 88 km/h (55 mph).

…I was trying contrasting values of colors… a lot of fun…

In colorimetry and color theory, lightness, also known as value or tone, is a representation of variation in the perception of a color or color space's brightness. (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lightness)

I Was Once A Child So Young

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

I was once a child so young

With fantasies in my mind

Like flowers from seeds do sprung

Each memory left behind

Like air that is busting to sky

To float with a cloudy mist

Or a brook in its flowing nearby

That earth has wandered and kissed

I look now and find memories

Of so much that life has given

The inside the heart only sees

And you through times have liven

There is so much far and wide

In songs of my singing that call

With moments for a while to abide

Like leaves in their beautiful of fall

My dreams have been pleasantry thing

With so much a child can do

They infinitely to me now sing

And some of them I interpret to you

A love song to fly in the blue

And wander away in youth’s countryside

To give of a young heart so true

In a merry-go-round childhood’s ride

A picture I took in Fira (Santorini, Greece), last summer. It is a long exposure shot and I've repainted some parts of it.

Fira is the modern capital of the Greek Aegean island, Santorini. It is a traditional settlement.

The view from Fira is magnificent, with a unique panorama showing the 18 km long caldera from southern Cape Akrotiri to northern Cape Ag. Nikolaos, plus the volcanic island Nea Kameni at the center with Thirassia Island in the distant west on blue Aegean water.

Fira is a town of white-washed houses built on the edge of the 400 m high caldera on the western edge of the semi-circular island of Thera. The two main museums of interest are the Santorini Archeological Museum, 30 m east of the cable car entrance, and the Museum of Prehistoric Thera at the southeast corner of the White Orthodox Cathedral (with the Greek name meaning Metamorphosis), built on the site of the Ypapanti Church, destroyed in the 1956 earthquake.

Access to Fira is mainly by roads on its eastern side, climbing from its port via the Z-shaped footpath on foot or on donkeys, or by riding the steep cable car from its lower terminal by the port.

Candles of The Past

A poem by Peter S. Quinn

Candles of the past

In shadows corner cast

Like paintings on a wall

Or tinting blanching fall

Precious moments going

Special people knowing

Of lives so many ways

In vanished yesterdays

Somewhere in my heart

Where memories start

I have again found

Incidents once around

All the music ways

In the magic of the days

Candle lights I’ve crossed

Those now today are lost

A multiple exposure taken with my Nikon Zfc, it is my submission for day 3 of the 21 day photo challenge by Flickr
