SubTropolis was created through the mining of a 270-million-year-old limestone deposit. In the mining process, limestone is removed by the room and pillar method, leaving 25-foot square pillars that are on 65-foot centers and 40 feet apart.

On June 15, 2015, Martin J. Eppler summarized research on banning brainstorming and showed experimental evidence for the value of visual alternatives that exploit the power of images for group creativity.

We are creating an Art Float for Social Change at Tam Makers, to inspire more people to participate in democracy.

Our parade float features Mother Earth and a circle of hands, pulled by the colorful dragon Quetzy. Young activists will sing and speak about social change -- and artists will share their ideas on our spinning carousel. They want you all to vote, speak up and create a better world!

This community art project was created by over a hundred volunteers at Tam Makers, led by Fabrice Florin and Geo Monley, with the generous support of Good Earth, Mill Valley Community Action Network and Tamalpais High School.

The Art Float for Social Change will reach out to youth and people of color through art, music and technology. We will present this art show on Earth Day, Memorial Day and Fourth of July parades in Marin -- and throughout California this fall, to encourage people to vote in the next elections.

I Don’t Know

An Original Student-Created Piece

Directed by Sarah Myers

How often do you say, “I dunno,” after expressing an idea? Why do some of us have this habit? Do we really not know? And what does it mean not to know the very thing we’ve just said? Inspired by conversations with theater students about why we so often utter these words, I Don’t Know is an exploration of what it means not to know, who claims knowledge and how, and what might be stifling and/or inspiring in uncertainty. This ensemble-created, collage-style piece will draw on original writing, video projections, and movement to ask questions about the very nature of knowing.

GAME GRAZY SHARES YOUR OBSESSION

Game Crazy blew up from 70 stores to 700 in two years. The logo and voice hadn’t kept pace. We overhauled their identity and created the tagline “We Understand” speaking to both the hard-core gamer (who had the obsession) and the gamer’s parent or significant other (who needed to understand the obsession and often paid for the games).

These guys drew a bigger crowd up on the centre stage with their amplifieries and drums - Electronica .

Leaving me alone on a Friday night is dangerous, because it means my crafting bug has no distractions! As part of my graduate thesis, I spent an hour and a half converting a pair of cheap safety goggles into some pseudo-steampunk goggles. This video is the entire process condensed into five minutes.

Apologies about the audio, it's very low for some reason.

Colour print, ink and watercolour on paper

From William Blake

(September 2019 – February 2020)

William Blake was a painter, printmaker and poet who created some of the most iconic images in British art.

Radical and rebellious, he is an inspiration to visual artists, musicians, poets and performers worldwide. His personal struggles in a period of political terror and oppression, his technical innovation, his vision and political commitment, have perhaps never been more pertinent.

Inside the exhibition is an immersive recreation of the small domestic room in which Blake showed his art in 1809. You can experience for yourself the impact these works had when they were shown for the first time. In another room, Blake’s dream of showing his works at enormous scale is made reality using digital technology.

With over 300 original works, including his watercolours, paintings and prints, this is the largest show of Blake’s work for almost 20 years. It rediscovers him as a visual artist for the 21st century.
