Our Level 1 Hair and Media Makeup students showed off their skills at their end of year assessment, Create an Image.
The students were assigned a theme and had to create mood boards before transferring their ideas onto a model or themselves. This year’s theme included The 80s and Fantasy. Huge well done to all our students!

Created in 1846, De Witt County was named for Empresario Green De Witt. The county seat, originally at Cameron, was moved in 1848 to the pioneer town of Clinton, named for De Witt's son. County government returned briefly to Cameron, but Clinton again served as the county seat from 1850 until 1876, when Cuero was named the seat of government. Courthouse here included a log cabin and two frame buildings. A cemetery and well remain at the site of Clinton, evidence of the once-thriving community that was the home of many prominent area pioneers.
Today I created an 80" by 22" puzzle as part of our building incentive for safety month. This is what it looked like before I cut the puzzle pieces. Can you find my kite? The kids will get to put up a puzzle piece for every 50 safety tickets we earn as a building until the puzzle is complete and we discover what our prize is going to be. So shhhhh...don't give it away guys. :)

And God Created Woman
Oh, oh

And the music starts 2 swell

Bone of my bones (Bone of my bones)
And God created woman
And we were naked and did not care
There's a time 2 take and a time 2 share
2 in love all around and all aware
Flesh of my flesh (Flesh of my flesh)
And God created woman
Temptation sweet and so much (Sweet and so much)
Surely die if neither one of us shall ye touch (Shall ye touch)
Then again we could die from the rush (Rush)
Heart of my heart (Heart of my heart)
And God created woman (Woman)
Oh (oh), woman (woman)
My, my, my… woman
In my darkest hour I find
Many serpents who have lied (Lies)
Given half the chance still I'd run 2 your side (Run 2 your side)
Love of my love (Love of my love)
God created woman (Woman)
And if I never see U again
It's alright, 4 I am guilty of no sin
They can have U but I'll have your love in the end
Soul of my soul (Soul of my soul)
God created woman {x3} (Woman {repeat})
Flesh of my flesh

The Creatable World dolls are REALLY cute and fun to play with.
My only complaint is that the waist isn't jointed which limits posability a little. The wigs are also a little wonky.
- The mix-and-match outfits are awesome!
- The posability is really good
- They stand by themselves if they're wearing shoes.
Mattel, well done! A++++
My moms bf found the design lab at goodwill! It had most of it pieces and I was able to play with it for the first time!

Chronology
Period Description
1704-1712 overall planning and construction period
History
The Episcopal Church in Hessian Fulda looks to a history reaching back to Frankish time that is closely linked to the missionary work of the Empire territory.
The karolingical predecessor construction
On the site of a probably in the Saxon wars destroyed Frankish Herrenhof (manor farm) founded Sturm, a disciple of Saint Boniface, the monastery of Fulda. After the Anglo-Saxon missionary was killed by the Frisians 754 and was buried in the newly built church, developed this quickly to a popular pilgrimage site. Not least the growing number of monks and pilgrims made a comprehensive extension of the as hall church with a semicircular apse designed construction necessary. So the abbot Ratgar (791-819) first began with the establishment of a new Ostanlage (east layout) before to the then to a three-aisled basilica expanded building then a weitausladendes (elaborate) transept was added a second apse in the west. This Westanlage (west layout) refers clearly back to the Constantinian Church Old St. Peter in Rome and documents architecturally impressive the Rombezug (reference to Rome) of the directly to the Holy See subordinated monastery when it was founded.
Also the ring crypt under the western apse follows the example of the early Christian Roman Peter Church. There, Pope Gregory I about 600 had made the grave of the Prince of the Apostles by a similar facility for the pilgrims accessible.
The baroque new building
Not only the for its time of creation unique size and complexity of the Ratgarbasilika, but also its religious significance as burial place of Boniface allowed the Carolingian building to become a model for its Baroque successor. Thus Johann Dietzenhofer oriented himself with his in 1704-12 erected new building at the disposition of the previous building, those foundations were taken as far as possible. Also the baroque atypical system as three-aisled basilica seems explicable only from the reverent preservation of the original design. Only the west choir of the early medieval double chancel replaced the architect through a two-tower facade.
After air war damage during the Second World War, the restoration was completed in 1954.
Architecture
Following the example of the Carolingian episcopal church, Johann Dietzenhofer built the baroque cathedral as a three-aisled basilica with a transept and crossing tower. The above discussed Rombezüge (references to Rome) of the "Ratgarbasilika" he revived by a clear reference to Francesco Borromini's reconstruction of the Lateran Basilica once again. The Roman model paraphrasing, alternate in the nave large arched openings with smaller rectangular, above which figure niches are set into the high nave wall. In the aisles the individual yokes appear as independent, by horizontal oval domes centered spatial units.
Above the intersection arches a massive dome, whose drum is divided by double pilasters between which windows and figure niches alternate.
The as canopy formed high altar, where Gian Lorenzo Bernini's Marmorziborium in St. Peter's Church is evoked, gives a clear view of the elongated monk choir.
The exterior building is largely determined by the additive looking arrangement of towers, domes and chapels. The per se narrow twin-tower facade with its incorporated Ottonian towers is corrected in its Gesamtproportionierung (overall proportioning) by the two laterally attached chapels. The two flanking obelisks let the show side of the church gently fade away.
Decoration and equippment
The spatial effect is determined by the contrast between the white of the wall surfaces and the stucco on the one hand and the black and gold color chord of the architectural elements and the equipment to another.
The stucco with its many figurative representations was created by Giovanni Battista Artari.
Of the rest of its features, especially the numerous baroque tombs deserve special attention.

Our Maker Art class created a Haunted House in fall 2016. In this after-school workshop at the Lycée Français, students ages 7 to 10 built a fantasy world together, with magical creatures, ghosts, witches and other spooky characters.
We combined arts and technology to bring their creations to life: each student created their own room in our haunted house, and animated their characters with motors and simple mechanisms, adding lights and sounds to tell their stories.
Students started by designing their rooms and characters, and built them in their own cardboard ‘wonderboxes.’ We then asked them to sketch up their individual visions of the Haunted House and combined them together. Children worked in teams to build some of the more complex features: a clock tower, an elevator and an animated graveyard zombie, all powered with Arduino boards.
I’m very grateful to my associate teachers for this class: Sarah Brewer and Edward Janne were amazing partners and empowered our students to create their own interactive art, helping them bring their ideas to life in a playful way that made learning more fun.
We taught this class weekly at the Lycée Français in Sausalito, with 8 school students in grades 3, 4 and 5. We met every Thursday at 3:30pm, from September 15 to December 8, 2016. Many of the materials we used in this class were prepared at Tam Makers, our makerspace in Mill Valley.
