Strolling down to the end of Pearl Street Mall in Boulder, Colorada, I was stunned to see this amazing Art Deco building--the Boulder County Courthouse.
I can imagine how the residents might have considered this "ultra-modern" building when it was built in 1933-1934, amid mining towns, ranches, etc.. It was designed by architect Glen H. Huntington, and according to lore was constructed from the reclaimed sandstone of a dismantled bridge.
Open
the book of twilight
where pigeons
circle the courthouse
skimming low, fluttering
to roosts in oaks
that line the square
fading sky a bruise:
cerulean, plum,
a brushstroke of clouds,
dome and belfry
home to gnatcatchers
that swoop and pirouette
for nightbugs drawn
to streetlamps coming on;
this is the scene as dark
approaches, as cars’ twin
beams come on, as winds
that battered the state flag
atop the metal pole
begin to settle
winds that scoured
the countryside
all day but now die
to a whisper
a soft kiss
upon your cheek.

I took three handheld captures while laying on my belly to get this "lake" perspective at the puddle of water there in the rocky river bed. The camera was pretty low to the ground and at an angle to maximize the reflection and perspective here.
Das Gerichtsgebäude in Berlin-Mitte wurde 1896-1905 erbaut.. Diese schöne Eingangshalle steht schon seit Jahren auf meiner "Foto To Do Liste".

The district court in Berlin-Mitte was built in 1896-1905. This beautiful entrance hall has been on my "Photo To Do List" for years. Unfortunately, for some time it has been very difficult to get in, because the entrance is very strictly controlled and sealed off. After a nice conversation with the responsible justice - official, I was allowed at least in the entrance hall with the smartphone to shoot a few pictures.
This is a new courthouse completed about five years ago. It is located in Lancaster County, Virginia. I like the windowed cupola. HWW
The old Courthouse I posted in one of the early comments. It is still being used for offices and some other County departments.
The good thing about living in a small town is that when you don't know what you're doing, someone else does.
On summer nights the good old boys, local fiddlers, banjo pickers, anybody with a gee-tar or harmonica will show up on the lawn beside the courthouse and play old timey country and western and gospel songs.
The Second Pinal County Courthouse - built in 1891 and located in 135 Pinal St. The Courthouse is the most important architectural landmark in Florence and the most outstanding surviving example of the American-Victorian Style in Central Arizona. The building was designed by Arizona architect James M. Creighton, who was among the Territory’s first architects. Three notorious women were presented before this court. They were Pearl Heart, Eva Dugan and Winnie Ruth Judd. Listed in the National Register of Historic Places on August 2, 1978.
Built in 1928 after the old courthouse burned down it cost 45 thousand dollars to build, have a good day thank you all for your visits comments and faves much appreciated!
The oldest operating county courthouse in Colorado, it benefited from several excellent restoration projects in the 1990s.

A block north of Heritage Square on the east side of downtown is the old Coconino County Courthouse. Built when Coconino first became a county, this building has served as the political hub since 1895. Despite its importance in administering the second-largest county of the United States, it was "shoved aside" to a random city block during planning, as the grid for downtown had not considered institutional buildings, but was still "by far the most elaborate structure in Flagstaff". It is an example of Romanesque Revival architecture, but the "small-town version", featuring "heavy masonry construction, cavernous window and door openings, an impressive square tower, [and] round-arched windows that reflect the Roman architecture of Europe", with the arched entryway "probably its most distinguishing architectural feature". In 1956, a modern International Style addition to the building was added, which was contentious from the start not only in style but also for clashing in style with the rest of the city; it was replaced. An "arty" version of my Mono County Courthouse photo using graphic novel and monochrome filters and bleeding out some of the luminosity from the image, to make it more "Hallowe'eny".
One more shot of this 19th century masterpiece...
Completed in 1896 for $110,000, the impressive granite structure was constructed from stones quarried and pre-cut near Burnet County, Texas. Each piece was numbered and shipped for assembly, raised by a windlass pulled by donkeys.

The county courthouse positioned squarely at the end of the street. A commanding structure, catching the last rays of the evening sun on its clock tower.
