The Kearney County Courthouse is a historic building in Minden, Nebraska, and the courthouse of Kearney County, Nebraska. It was the third building to house the county courthouse when it was completed in 1906–1907. Prior buildings had been completed in 1878 and 1879. The third courthouse was designed in the Classical Revival style by architect George A. Berlinghof. Writing for the National Register of Historic Places form, Barbara Beving Long highlights the "symmetrical arrangement, monumental proportions (especially the large smooth squared pilasters), pedimented pavilions, smooth surface, and unadorned parapet, [...] the attractive roundarched entries with keystones, squared pilasters (at corners and pavilions), ground floor arcades, and the mighty central dome resting on its octagonal drum." She adds, "Rectangular windows have transoms and lack special lintel or sill treatment."

The building has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since January 10, 1990.

Eutaw, Greene County, AL USA

This is the historical Greene County Courthouse erected in 1869 is vacant and in a state of ill repair. It's located in the center of courthouse square with three other buildings on corners of the square. One of the corner buildings is occupied by the Probate Judge (tax assessor) and has been renovated. The other two buildings are vacant. It appears that court was held in this building while supporting offices were located in the corner buildings. The Probate Office is the only remaining active building of the three corner buildings.

Greene County is a county of the U.S. state of Alabama. Its name is in honor of Revolutionary War General Nathanael Greene of Rhode Island. As of 2000 the population was 9,974. It encompasses 631 square miles. Greene County is located in the west-central portion of the state, between the Tombigbee and Black Warrior Rivers.

Greene County, AL is named for Revolutionary hero, General Nathaniel Greene of Rhode Island, who drove Brittish from the Southeast. The area explored by DeSoto, 1540. It was claimed as French Louisiana, 1699 and ceded to England, 1763 Greene county was created by the first state legislature on 1819 Dec. 13, from part of the land ceded to the Federal government by the Choctaw Cession of 1816 Oct. 24

Its county seat is Eutaw and is named for Greene's victory at Eutaw Springs, South Carolina. At the 2000 census the population was 1,878. Today, Eutaw's quiet streets are still graced by the town homes and mansions build from the 1820's to the turn of the century. Of fifty-three remaining antebellum structures, 27 have already been admitted to the National Register of Historic Places, and dozens more historic homes of the Victorian era survive in Eutaw.

There was a great sky in the morning I had a business breakfast downtown, and I always wanted to get a shot of the courthouse with a good sky behind it. So out came the G15 from the briefcase to grab this shot. The Fort Worth Courthouse is one of the historical architectural buildings in the city. It sits high on the bluff of the Trinity River. It was designed by Gunn and Curtiss Architects of Kansas City and it is a striking example of American Beaux Arts Design. Constructed in 1895, it was one of the first structural steel framed buildings built in the Southwestern United States. Fort Worth, Texas, USA, January 2017

Magnificent Ionic columns stand on either side of the front entrance to the historic Utah County Courthouse. This building has a symbolic sculptural group in the pediment above the entrance: the figure of Justice stands in the center; a woman sitting on the right hand side represents County of Utah. Various arts and industries are represented as well: horticulture, dairying, mining, and sheep raising. On the other side of Justice sits Provo City. She is flanked by the harp and viol, the face, the cog-wheel, a stack of books, and an artist's palette.

Visited Courthouse Falls for the first time in about 3 years. Had pretty good conditions. I wasn't able to stay long and was not able to get as many compositions as I would liked. During my last visit there was a large tree lying diagonally across the falls. That is gone but there is another very large tree just a bit downstream. I used it as my vantage point for this photo. I would have liked to get out into the water for perhaps better compositions. Guess I'll just need to revisit it soon.

With flags flying and one customer parked in front. The Courthouse was originally constructed in 1901. A two million dollar restoration was completed in 2011. Garfield has the smallest population of any county in Washington state with only 2,266 residents in 2017, less than half of it's population in the early 1900's.

Happy Window Wednesday!

Ogle County Courthouse in Oregon, Illinois was built in 1891 in the Romanesque Revival style by architect George O Gamsey. The building faces east and is a three story red colored brick structure. The building is located on landscaped grounds in the center of Oregon on the west side of the courthouse. The east front has a curved stone center section with entrances on the first story. Above rise vertical brick pillars with recessed windows and a projecting iron grill from the top of the second story. On the northeast corner a tower rises to a pitched roof with dormers. The roof line is flat with white colored stone trim. The building houses the County Circuit Court of the 15th Judicial Circuit.

A quick trip to Jefferson City offered a few photo opportunities. This is the third Cole County Courthouse, built in 1897 and designed by local architect Frank B. Miller, in Romanesque Revival style. It featured fire-proof vaults for storing county records which proved useful when the courthouse burned in 1918.

Located at Court Square in Harrisonburg, Virginia, the Rockingham County Courthouse dates to 1897 and is the fifth building on the site to serve as the courthouse. I've photographed this structure on numerous occasions, but this is the first shot I've posted with a horizontal perspective. Information from the county government website.

Looking into the archives from last year, I ran across this photo of the Rockingham County Courthouse, located at Court Square in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The structure was built in 1897 as noted on a marker at the site. I have other photos of this beautiful courthouse on my photostream but decided to post this one as well. Explore 454, 4/18/2020.

Taking advantage of a strong backlight at the courthouse in Jamaica, Queens.

Courthouse Falls is in the Pisgah National Forest on Courthouse Creek. The headwaters of this creek spring from the slope of a rock formation on the Blue Ridge Parkway called "Devil's Courthouse.&quot. The falls are reached by an easy 20 minute hike once you drive the three miles up a bumpy dirt road to the trail head on Forest Road 140.

This panorama consists of 7 upright frames) I initially took enough eposures for an HDR pano, but took the easy way out. Really, the only high contrast was in the waterfall anyway. Sorry about the blowing leaves in the upper left. There was no way around that with 30 sec exposures.

Jefferson County Nebraska.

Built in 1892 in the Romanesque style, the Green County Courthouse faces west and is a two story red colored brick from maiden rock and stone structure. There is a stone portico on the south front. The building has a course stone foundation, a square clock tower on the southwest corner and round towers. Stone trim decorated the corners and windows. The building has a hipped roof.

Courthouse Towers is a cluster of tall stone columns and spires that rise dramatically from the desert floor. Their sheer vertical faces and open sky make them one of the park’s most iconic silhouettes.

Elbert County Courthouse in Elberton, Georgia

Here is another photo I recently took of Courthouse Falls in western North Carolina. Courthouse Falls is located about midway between US64 and the Blue Ridge Parkway on NC215. You'll need to take a gravel forest road three miles in from NC215. Its a short easy hike. If you go into the stream, as I did here, always watch your footing as the rocks are very slippery.
