I'm building a physical fitness facility for the US Navy at NSA Panama City. This facility trains combat divers for the Navy, the US Marines, the US Air Force and Coast Guard.

This obstacle course is a part of the project. It's not finished in these shots, there will be a 6" bed of cypress mulch chips placed down the course next week

I was in the Marines more decades ago than I want to admit. I could have run this course without much effort then but.....

A collision course in colors bold and bright,

Where vibrant hues clash in the dead of night.

A dance of shades, a symphony of light,

A canvas of chaos, a wondrous sight.

In this kaleidoscope of swirling tones,

Where passion and fury are deeply sown.

In every clash, a new story is shown,

A masterpiece of chaos, all alone.

But in this collision of color and form,

There lies a beauty that will transform.

A sonnet of chaos, a perfect storm,

A collision course that will always charm.

In this world of colors that clash and bind,

A collision course in color, so divine.

OK, so it's official, I have caught the design bug again! Feels great to be back in a zone where I have this urge to create designs. Haven't been in this zone for a while so it feels great to be back in it! Upon finding this amazing photo of Jordin Sparks, knew I wanted to create a design for her latest mixtape project #ByeFelicia. With this design, I was really inspired by Tumblr-pixel like designs to create a very pixel, emoji filled design. Was also naturally inspired by some cover designs from some amazing fellow cover designers such as Koalesse and Sebastian who have tackled themes like this before, but of course still wanted the design to have my own twist to it. Had so fun with the cover design and creating this very cheeky somewhat social media inspired design, hope you all like the design!

After leaving the viewpoint at Lapataia, we reversed course. After a stop for lunch (and sending postcards) in Ushuaia, we headed back up RN3 in order to get out of Argentina. It was important to be out on that day for a couple of reasons. First of all, there was a national transportation strike in Argentina on the following day, and we wanted to decrease our odds of being impacted by it. Also, we wanted to drive the Chilean portion of the road before it got dark. By driving it in the light, we’d be able to see the road and be able to make the ferry back to the mainland before it stopped for the night.

Here is a portion of the road on the Chilean side of Tierra del Fuego, looking rather scenic. The road is indeed quite pretty, but it’s also deceptively dangerous. The quality of the gravel is generally decent (with washboarded portions here and there), but due to the high winds and the lack of friction of gravel, there are quite a few accidents caused by cars being blown off the road. On the way in, we saw a recently overturned truck (lights were still on). On the way back, we saw a few frames of cars that were long abandoned along the side of the road.

When we were driving in this area on the previous evening, we asked our hitchhiker Sebastián why the Chilean side of the road isn't paved yet. His answer was that Chile has no incentive to do so. While this road is a major truck route, it is only in Chile briefly, and there are no large towns on the Chilean side of the island. Chile doesn't benefit much economically by paving the road. However, while on the way up, we did see some paving work taking place, so maybe Chile and Argentina worked something out.

This is Soffía Rún Kristjánsdóttir, 19 and lives in Garðabær. This wasn´t actually shot for this project, was going to do something else but we threw together a photoshoot last minute and this was one of the photos taken there. I liked the outcome so I asked Soffía if she would mind I use her for this series and she didn´t.

Henný actually takes most of the credit for this photo as it is her idea and of course she did the makeup. Lighting is just three lights, two with honeycombs from the back and one from the front with a 75° softlite reflector and then I put a silver reflector between us under her face.

I walked with my son's dog on Tilgate golf course this morning. On some days, like today, there are a lot of golfers about, but on other days there are very few – I've no idea why. During lockdown, naturally there were none at all, but I only saw three golfers the day before yesterday.

It's taken a pandemic and lockdown (now into our third) to make us explore things closer to home, including Warwick race course and St Mary's Lands in the middle of the course. There has been racing here since 1707, though like everything else, it's cancelled at the moment. This is one of two stands overlooking the finish.

Ok... its official. Full details are up and registration is now open on my SketchingNow site.

www.sketchingnow.com/foundations-course/

Please pop over to find out all about it.

I am excited beyond words - I can't believe that after months and months of serious planning, developing my idea and then putting it all together...it is up! I have thought for a long time about what I would most like to do with an online class - and how could I make it so it was the closest to my weekly sketching classes. And well the SketchingNow idea is the result - a concept a week - slow paced - fresh content based on local sketching adventures as I explored my beautiful home town of Sydney.

Now that all the back-of-house stuff is up - the good stuff can start. Pulling all the core content together (it has been sitting waiting for me for months) and ... working out what parts of Sydney I will go and doing some serious cafe research. So... which comes first? Making a decision on the suburb because of it character or collating a list of the top cafes of Sydney and working around that? ....Ah! such important planning to come! No seriously, this course is NOT about sitting in cafes drinking tea - it does have an important supporting role - but SketchingNow Foundations is all about explaining my core concepts and then applying them to sketching out on the streets.

Anyway - I will be sharing my preparations here on my blog (as always!)... but today I am getting ready for a real life 2-day workshop in The Rocks starting tomorrow, doing illustration work and somehow trying to find a little time to get up to date with my daily sketching.

Oh! and a big thank you for all those that have already registered... It is very exciting to have a number of you so keen to sign up straight away like that!

Only 5 weeks to go till it starts - personally I can't wait... but I know that it will come around really soon for me.

The private course built by jeweller Michael Hill will host the Open for the next three years in a deal that will be music to the ears of the sport's stakeholders.

After losing almost $1.2 million in two years, and four days after revealing a $695,472 loss on the 2006 edition of the Open, New Zealand Golf has handed over the financial risk or reward of the event to Australian promoter Tuohy Associates NZ. European and Australasian co-sanctioning will be retained, but already the balance sheet looks brighter for what will be New Zealand's 100th national open.

Hill has generously waved the six-figure venue fee that had been attached to Gulf Harbour and Bob Tuohy has already predicted this year's event will break even.

But while there can be no doubt the first South Island Open since 1985 has the potential to restore the tournament's tarnished image, and NZG's balance sheet, there will be some uncertainty about the venue.

Hill is the sole member of his private Arrowtown course and aside from his close friends and a small group of New Zealand's top players, few have played the course.

Recently completed after five years in the making, it will have no track record come November, but Turner, a former European PGA professional, said any concerns were unfounded.

"I went and had a hit with Michael (Hill) a few weeks ago and I can tell you it's a true championship course. It's going to be a real test," he said yesterday. "It's difficult, there's lots of water, lots of tussock and undulating greens."

Turner said it would provide the players with a unique challenge and believed it would draw good crowds despite being outside Auckland for the first time since 2002.

"I can't think of anything like it in New Zealand. It's unusual. It's a lot of rock out crops and tussock grass. I think it will be a really good venue. I think a lot of people will come. The Queenstown area is rising right now, but also I think people will come from Invercargill and Dunedin and possibly from Christchurch as well."

Hill said there had been enough feedback to allay any fears the course would not meet PGA standards.

"All the top New Zealand players have had a crack. Phil Tataurangi was first and he gave a lot of advice, then Greg Turner in the early stages too."

Their main advice had been to lengthen the course to combat technology, but they had been more than happy with the layout, he said.

"One hole is over 600 yards all up hill into the wind, so it will be quite a challenge."

Hill said it was a "thinking man's course" with many holes providing players with two options.

"You can go over the bunker, which is harder, but you get a kick down the hill. Several holes are split in two where you can go for the green over waterways or vile swamps, or go around the fairway, which is longer, but more conservative."

He had no plans to host any other tournaments on the course and believed the "curiosity value" created by keeping it closed to the public would enhance the appeal of the Open.

The 2007 tournament will be held from 29 November to 2 December, following the co-sanctioned MasterCard Masters in Melbourne with Kiwi No1 Michael Campbell the official tournament ambassador.

It will be up to Campbell, Tuohy and Hill to leverage Queenstown's tourist appeal to both players and the pubic alike. If successful, New Zealand's premier golf tournament could again become a jewel in the country's sporting crown.
