Bristol LS / ECW OBD 904 had been new to United Counties in June 1957 and is seen here at Luton's Castle Street Depot circa 1970 wearing the Tilling era cream and green coach livery. Whilst several of this batch were preserved, it appears OBD 904 was not so lucky.

The Comal County Courthouse is located in New Braunfels in the U.S. state of Texas. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in Comal County, Texas in 1976 and designated a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark in 1993.
Comal County has had two courthouses. The first was designed by Wilhelm Thielepape and completed circa 1860, but had deteriorated in condition by the late 1890s. The current Romanesque Revival style courthouse was designed by James Riely Gordon and completed in 1898 by contractors Fischer and Lamie. Gordon, along with another San Antonio architect Albert Felix Beckmann, submitted bids to replace the courthouse designed by Thielepape. In addition to reviewing the bids, the county commissioners traveled to Gonzales to assess the architectural quality of the Gonzales County Courthouse, a work designed by Gordon and completed in 1896.
Although the current structure has been somewhat modernized, and the original roof replaced, the basic structure remains the same. At the entrance, the original wood door has been replaced by a modernized glass and aluminum door. The exterior is of native limestone, and the southwest main two-story circular entrance balcony is supported by pink granite columns. The rear entrances have three-story quarter-circular bays. The ironwork on the interior centralized open stairway is the original. Atop the three-story building is a corniced stone tower.

Anyone for some home canned squash? We found this sitting it the doorway of an outbuilding near an abandoned farmhouse in Marion County, Georgia. It looks like someone found it back in the dark recesses, cleaned it up, and placed it there recently. I have no idea how old it may be. It's probably still there if some brave person wants to taste test it.

The newly finished amusement park on the historic Pleasure Pier....in the distant evening light, the Disney cruise ship leaves for an exciting adventure, Very soon you will also have the choice of actually cruising out of HOUSTON, which has a huge, first class cruise terminal. Both Celebrity cruise line, out of California, and NCL out of Florida will be plying the waters of Galveston Bay before heading into the Gulf of Mexico for Carribean destinations...
Note: I have never been 'cruising' although my wife has...I have ALWAYS said, I would never do it until I could actually cruise from MY 'home port' of (NOT Galveston) HOUSTON! now my only problem is a little thing called ...money! Fact is, I can't even afford the high price to get on the old Pleasure pier now LOL
The county has many beautiful areas to explore, it is rich with many possible opportunities for us photographers, with the entrance to Sequoia National park just a short drive away. The county is known for its crops, with tens of thousands of acres being farmed. Citrus is the main crop within the county, with huge numbers of both valencia and navel oranges. Sadly, the entire central valley is experiencing a deep, freezing cold snap, freezing much of the crops still on the trees. We can expect much higher prices in the spring for our favorite citrus fruits, especially oranges.
Construction began on the 1,070 seat County Playhouse in 1916 for Eagle Picturedrome Company to the design of W. Ellis from St Helens, although due to a shortage of materials and labour during World War I, it was not completed until 1919. Having survived a major fire in 1949, the cinema closed on Sunday 13th November 1966 with Disney’s 'The Sword and the Stone'. It was taken over by the Leeds Based Star Cinemas chain and they converted it into Star Bingo and Social Club. The building has since been used as a discount store and Playhouse Club Café and is currently the 1,200 capacity Pure Nightclub.
