Canyon County Paramedics, the ambulance service, can trace its lineage from three private providers: Canyon County Ambulance Service of Caldwell, Idaho, Pyra-Med Emergency Services, Inc. of Caldwell/Boise, Idaho, and Twin Cities Ambulance service of Nampa, Idaho. Not too much is known about the first two services, Canyon County and Pyra-Med; the former may have given rise to the latter around 1976. I became aware of Canyon County Ambulance Service in the early 70s; it faded from existence sometime in the late 70s. Pyra-Med existed between 1976 and 1978 according to the State of Idaho, Secretary of State website. Twin Cities, owned and operated by Claude Ellis from 1971 to 1979, was the last private ambulance service in Canyon County. Headquartered in Nampa, Idaho, Twin Cities provided the wheels under which the county paramedic program was able to gain traction and immerge as the third-service utility know as Canyon County Paramedics. This transition took place between 1975 and 1979. Once the county completed acquisition of all necessary equipment needed to operate independently of Twin Cities, Mr. Ellis closed the doors to his company, sold all assets, and left the area to become “ . . . the pastor of a church in California,” he told me prior to his departure. That was 1979.
The vehicle shown is a Type-1 remount of a 1975 American Coaches "Amliner" on 1980 Chevrolet C-30 Chassis. In 1975, Canyon County purchased two such units through the State of Idaho using a program of matching funds, each entity paying 50% of the vehicle’s cost. This purchasing program effectively ushered out the era of Cadillac and home-built ambulances for vehicles that conformed to current standards of the day.

Late September 2020 saw the innovative Showbus Flyby take place between Beaconsfield M40 Services and Oxford M40 Services at Wheatley. This involved a road run passing through High Wycombe, Stokenchurch and Thame with around 65 entrants making staggered starts from both locations.
I was fortunate to enjoy the occasion on board entrant B1256, White Bus of Winkfield Alexander Dennis Enviro200 MMC 65 YY69TLX.
My photos were taken throughout the day including our initial journey to Beaconsfield for the start of the road run.
Kris Deelane and the Hurt Performing at Pine Fest Music Festival in Halfway Oregon
A spectacular Saturday on the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway for day Pine Fest - Halfway, Oregon with a great headlining performance by Kris Deelane and the Hurt.
Billed as the tiniest music festival in the tiniest town, Pine fest is one of our favorite fall events along the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway. We had a great day hanging out with locals and visitors from Oregon Idaho and Washington listening to a great line up of bands and musicians from throughout the Northwest at the Baker County Fairgrounds in Halfway.
Pine Fest is the largest musical festival in Halfway but the community also hosts a number of other musical events including the summer concert series on the Main Street Stage. For more information about Pine Fest including next year’s dates and performers visit www.pinefest.org
The town of Halfway is just one of numerous small towns along the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway, a loop that encircles the Wallowa Mountains, intersecting with Interstate 84 at Baker City and La Grande, and communities all along the byway host a variety of festivals and community events throughout the year providing visitors a chance to celebrate local culture and visit with locals while exploring this incredibly scenic region of North East Oregon.
The byway is a popular destination for group tours and offers visitors a chance to experience small town Americana in small towns like Halfway, as they explore the rugged and spectacular Northeast Oregon landscape along the way.
The entire route is on a paved highway. Plan ahead - you'll find stretches of more than eighty miles without gas and with few services. A segment of the Byway between Joseph and Halfway closes with snow in winter, but allows access to winter recreation areas, offering a whole other kind of Northeast Oregon Adventure.

The Kane County Courthouse in Geneva, Illinois was built in 1892. It is a contributing property to the Central Geneva Historic District.

Eastern Counties Chatteris outstation on Saturday 20 September 1975. VR404 has just reversed out ready to start its day's work and is still showing the previous evening's destination display on the blind. This was about to be changed to '353 March' for its Saturday morning's duty at 0730 Chatteris to March. The outstation, in Bridge Street, dates from 1930 and by the time of this photo just the one VR was allocated. It closed on 21 September 1980 but the outstation 'shed' still remains and is now used by Royale Tyres as a garage.
I remember passing by this farmhouse a couple times a day, when I rode the bus to school each morning, a little more than 40 years ago. Now it sits empty. Taken along County Road 8 in Washington County Ohio.
Santa Clara County Fire Department official responded to a report of an injury motor vehicle accident on Blossom Hill Road in Los Gatos, July 2013.
The arriving fire crew discovered a high speed collision between a motorist and several parked cars. The motorist was trapped in his vehicle. The incident was upgraded to a rescue response, and after about 30 minutes the driver was freed from the wreck that was once his car.
Santa Clara County EMS Medic 42 is a 2011 Taylor Made rig on a GMC chassis. County EMS operates ALS 911 response Ambulances through an exclusive contract with Rural/Metro.

McClure, Michigan

McClure had its beginnings around 1883. It is named after William C. McClure, a large landowner in the township (Gladwin Township). McClure had a post and a general store, with James H. Campbell serving as the first postmaster on February 18, 1883.
The City of Geneva is proud to be the home of the Fillmore County Courthouse, which sits prominently in the center of the town square. The building was completed in 1894 and is a simplified version of the Richardsonian Romanesque style. Architect George E. McDonald designed the structure, which was modeled after the Gage County Courthouse in Beatrice. The two-story brick building has a three-story tower with a community clock that was installed by jeweler W.P. McCall in 1909. The Courthouse is home to many of the County offices and is registered with the Nebraska State Historical Society.
Three SAAB 96 Two Strokes at the SOC National event, Stafford County Showground. The two green cars are 1966 SAAB 96 Two Stroke long noses and the red car is a 1964 SAAB Two Stroke bull nose, the long nose first appeared in the 1965 MY to make room in the engine bay for the forthcoming V4 engine.

This is a collection of pictures taken April 9, 2005, beginning with some mindnumbingly stupid graffiti, then a stop at L'Etoile Café for lunch, a walk across the Capitol Square, and a wait in a jury room at the Dane County Courthouse. I was a judge in a moot court competition, and the judges were congregating in the jury room. The last few pictures are of the courtroom.
