After a long day of run and gun at work, I decided that some railfan sweelight run and gun was what I needed to unwind on the way home. Norfolk Southern train 38Q was just starting west down the Lurgan Branch, so I headed that way. The short train was moving faster than I could on the country roads, so I headed for a "safe" spot where I knew I could get a decent wedge at a crossing in plenty of time.

As I came over the ridge my windshield was filled with the golden glow of the setting sun, and the lines of the road and power poles yelled at me to just stop right there and shoot. I pulled into someone's driveway as the gates went down and the SD70ACe leader popped out of from behind the barn.

Amongst all the damage and destruction there is still some beauty left.

Took a drive in the Jeep last weekend to a place we've never been. This little dirt road started pretty much in the middle of nowhere and curved its way through a mountain gully for another 10km before coming to an end. I lost count of all the dry creek crossings we drove through and can't wait to go back after some rain. Just a beautiful place to be.

The British West Country is a region with a growing reputation for producing quality wines, particularly sparkling wines. Key areas include Somerset, Cornwall, and Devon, with vineyards like Oatley Vineyard, Camel Valley, and Lyme Bay Winery gaining recognition. The region's climate, with its warmer summers compared to other parts of England, is well-suited to certain grape varieties like Pinot Noir, Bacchus, and Seyval Blanc.

Today is my Birthday " 67 " i am !

Well it was -4 Farenheit and -20 Celcius when I took this shot. I did freeze my fingers off on this one and the tripod would not break back down after it because it was frozen stiff (LOL). ;^) So hence my title. This really is what you see most of the time if you live in Central NY, farm country and rolling hills. I find it quite beautiful and tried to bring out that beauty here. :)

I hope everyone enjoys this image and please view in large if you have the time! :)
