Crab Cooker menu at Tustin branch, 3-6-2019. It depicts the interior of the original Crab Cooker in Newport Beach, which was recently destroyed by developers.
It was a nice sunny day, so I made lunch in the back of the truck with my solar cooker.
I took two chicken breasts and cut them in to 1/4" thick slices. After placing them in the bottom of the pan, I added a zucchini, a can of corn, two cans of sliced stewed tomatoes and some garlic cloves.
It filled the pan, so I left it to cook for 3 hours. The end result is absolutely delicious. The broth that is created is really good, and it permeates the chicken and vegetables.
This dish is easy, tasty, and can be easily modified.
Using the Cookit I was able to cook up 3 cups of basmati rice in 2 hours. I put it on at 3 and it was done by 5.
These oblong roasting pans fit the Cookit shape nicely and can cook a lot of food!
I made the Cookits from double-thickness cardboard and reinforced all the edges, seams and flex points with foil tape. The thicker cardboard resists the wind, and the foil-taped edges help with the rain.
And here's the rice! I washed and soaked three cups of basmati, set it to cook and it came out perfectly.
A day later I made four cups of basmati, washing it but not soaking it, and it came out just as good if not a bit better - the grains were ever so slightly less crumbly.
Either way, this was far and away the best rice I had ever cooked myself, even on the stovetop. I couldn't be happier.
Air pruning free flow compost tea maker. Add grass cutter clippings and water, wait for a few days, pour out extremely good fertilizer and bugs repellant. Dilute 1:10.
Thought this rusty barrel against an aging brick wall made an interesting pic. It appears it may be used as a cooker of some description given the metal grated top over it. Sadly did not have time to explore.

Went out last night, with the usual suspects to play with fire at a new location, acottage which has been abandoned for 20 odd years.
Found this cooker in the kitchen (surprisingly) have no idea if it's still connected, but thought it was worth a shot or two. Have tried to give it that sort of horror/Blair Witch type feel, not sure i've achieved it really.
He have been a fire keeper this time, he was proud of it . =)

Julia's dad wanted to try this amazingly cheap dehydrated fried rice for AUD0.99. I wasn't too impressed with the 10 minute cooking time required. The instructions called for 10 minutes with 1.5 cups of water in the microwave or on the stove. I whacked it in the rice cooker :P
The results? Tasted as expected... like instant food. At least the texture of the rice was ok.
My other gripe was that it was supposed to serve 4. What I ended up was 1 slightly heaped bowl of rice, barely enough for a hungry teenager! Perhaps that's where eating habits differ. Asians will easily eat a bowl of rice with a few slices of meat, while Westerners will eat a few grains of rice with a slab of beef!
Just as well I got some takewaye BBQ pork and sausage! :)

The driveway is a great place to catch the last rays of the day and finish up the roast for dinner.
Leh is the capital of the Leh District of Ladakh, India. The city lies on the true right bank of the Indus River in a narrow valley north of the river at an elevation of some 3,530 m (11,581 ft.).
This solar cooker and parabolic mirror were for sale on day three of the 15-day 2007 Ladakh Festival at the Leh Polo Ground. The festival is held annually in Leh and nearby venues and includes polo games, archery competitions, music concerts, Cham Dances (Mask Dances), rock climbing, river rafting and camel safaris.
Trip to RAF croft with night photographer and some friends new in to urbexing, found this in quite an empty explore with not much left around.
Lit natural by myself and used another flash slaved inside the cooker with a red gel on and flashed the background with a green gel.
