Cuando la luz disponible es suave, es dificil resaltar a tu sujeto respecto al fondo (imagen superior izquierda). Utilizando un flash (con 1/4 CTO) y combinando su potencia y la velocidad de disparo, se pude controlar la "presencia" de nuestro sujeto respecto al amiente. De nuevo paraguas traslúcido a la izquierda, bastante elevado sobre el sujeto, con 1/4 CTO.
Trujillo's early immigration policies were based on complex motives with personal choices and with nationalistic view. Trujillos government decided to take 25,000 Japenese people and give them jobs as farmers. This was beneficial to the Dominican Government because it gave them cheap labor which produced 25 percent of all of Dominican Republic cash crops. As the country is famous for its lucrative groth of sugar cane, coffe bean, and tobacco plants; Those crops make up most of the countries Growth Annual Product. The countries economical growth in the 1930's led to a great expansion of the wealth in sorrounding Carribean Islands. The economic boom also provided Dominican Republic to expand on their military strength and create closer ties to the American government. The strenghten ties led to the Good Neighbor policy. The "Good Neighbor Policy" was introduced by Franklyn D. Roosevelt in 1933. It returned control of Dominican Customs back to the Dominican government. Until then, Dominican Customs Offices had been under the administration and control of the U.S. Government. This sparked similar treaties in Jamiaca and the Bahamian Islands.

The Space Center tour recreates the experience of counting down of the launch. From checking with the different stations, to the ignition, countdown, lift off. The whole room rumbles. A very cool experience.
As night sets in, a tug boat assists a small cruise ship out from the harbour. Taken from atop of Mt. Fløyen.

This was a fantastic control with friendly and helpful SIR volunteers. I didn't grab enough of the potatos.
The Huron-Clinton Metropolitan Authority performed a controlled burn of this meadow near the entrance to Stony Creek Metropark in Washington Township, Michigan. Burning this meadow will cause more wildflowers to grow here in the summer and return some nutrients to the soil. Interesting approach....

Ballast Control and Tank Gauging Systems
Overview: When Monitor Systems designed, installed and commissioned its new ballast control and tank gauging system on Transocean's MG Hulme rig in 2010, it was to replace out of date equipment difficult to maintain because of unavailable spare parts, whilst at the same time upgrading operational system reliability and performance.
Using a more compact steel control console, valuable space savings were achieved in the control room allowing for a new fire and gas panel to be installed. Whilst replicating existing control functions, benefits of the new failsafe system included new operator control graphics in an improved ergonomic layout with a host of valuable operator alarms not present in existing system monitoring tank levels, valve open and close feedback, valve operating times and pump protection via pressure alarms. Customer: Transocean.
So... my friend Anna has been staying with me for about a month, and now she's gone. She left under fairly mysterious circumstances. I am more than a little worried that she is either in a cult or that she's been human trafficked, but I don't really have a way to do anything about it either way. Hopefully she's okay...
In happier news, I found a neat camera (Olympus E-PL2) at the St. Vinny yesterday, and I got to play around with it today.
1. Radio Remote controller = 50m
2. Arduino + radio = 500m
3. Android powered phone = 3.5 to coast. Possibility of using GSM network, 3G, 4G, EDGE and other mobile phone large bandwidth domestic services at low cost
4. GPRS / Iridium powered phone = Global coverage, narrow bandwidth, high cost. Alternative would be govt / science channels / cubesats / planetLab Partnership
5. Gaming console (here Microsoft X-box Kinect Motion tracking) Simplifying controlled to make Protei control accessible to all.

This series of pictures is for all cat lovers, but especially for those who have been wondering how my sister's cat Mirre is. Mirre was hit by a car in July and seriously injured; his hip bone was broken, and I chose surgery which saved his life. Mirre lived in a cage for the first month, and after that he was still indoors for a month. He has been allowed to go outside for some weeks now. His control X-rays last month showed that he has been healing well.
Even though the screw that was attached to Mirre's hip bones did not put the broken bone in its exact old position, Mirre has been showing huge progress in his recovery. He now walks, jumps and especially talks as if nothing ever happened. That was the best 1500 euros I ever spent! :-)
Mirre has a collar and a microchip, and we hope that he won't injure himself like that ever again. He does spend more time safely indoors now that the weather has gotten cold, and he's gaining weight for winter like he always does. ;-)
This eagle took a fish from the frozen surface of the Fox River, and for some reason could not handle the fish once on its talons. It was until I began to look at the pictures on my computer that I realized why the problems of handling the fish. The left leg has 2 fingers missing, and the remaining ones do not have the necessary grip to control the prey easily. Some how it has reached the adulthood! I'm happy to see how he develops and with the fierceness that goes after his prey, that makes this particular Eagle a perfect life sample that shows no matter how or who we're, everything is possible. I will name this Eagle "Captain Hook"
