The Tree of Souls (Utraya Mokri) is a giant willow-like tree that's said to have the highest concentration of Eywa on the planet. The Tree of Souls can also create a one-way psionic link between two bodies, similar to how Avatars work. When Grace Augustine was injured, Jake brought her to the Na'vi and they attempted to save her by using the Tree of Souls to permanently transfer her mind to her Avatar body. Although Grace was too weak to make the transfer, Eywa absorbed her memories. At the end of the film Jake successfully transfers his mind into his Avatar, making it his true body forever.
I am jumping from morning to morning, I feel forced to enjoy this moments again and again. It's like an addiction and I think I can't do it on an other time. The light, the colours and the mood on dawning autumn are so inspiring!
My contribution to this weeks theme, still life (with a touch of Halloween), for the photo group Fotosöndag.
My contribution to the Macro Mondays' challenge, "chain", on 9 December 2019. It's a 19th Century watch chain (also known as an Albert chain) decorated with a gold sovereign from the reign of George II.
This is my contribution to Macro Mondays' theme "Wings".
Wikipedia explains (cf. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wingnut_(hardware)):
"A wingnut, wing nut or butterfly nut is a type of nut with two large metal 'wings', one on each side, so it can be easily tightened and loosened by hand without tools."
The photograph shows two 3/8"-16 UNC wingnuts, mounted to threaded rods. The thread-type is one of the - I assume - two standard-thread-types for photo- and filmography equipment.
Image-dimensions (circa): 37mm x 60mm (approximately the golden cut, though the composition does not really fit it).
I used darktable, gimp and zerene to pp this. The photo was taken with the Nikon AF Micro 60 mm f/2.8 together with an extension tube on a Nikon D850 mounted to a WeMacro rail.

This is my contribution to Concept Collaboration's February theme: spiral. It was inspired by how quickly a simple encounter can become something that it never was in the mind of someone with anxiety or depression. Sometimes what should be an easy conversation leaves me panicked, queasy, and full of self-loathing. I know in my head that the other person is completely oblivious to my perceived awkwardness, but I need to consciously calm myself down and remember that to keep my emotions controlled.
I have a tattoo on my left wrist that simply reads 'don't panic'. I'll post a photo of it one day, probably.

My contribution to the images taken during Erlestoke Manor's final weekend before being withdrawn for overhaul. We had just arrived back at Kiddi behind Light Pacific No. 34027 `Taw Valley' having enjoyed a thoroughly delicious meal on the dining train - highly recommended! and took the opportunity for a quick grab shot.
While passengers head for home, and having arrived with her last train prior to being withdrawn, ex-GWR 78xx `Manor' No. 7812 `Erlestoke Manor' stands at the stops of Kidderminster Town Station.
With transport booked she will be heading off to Tyseley for the work to be undertaken and is scheduled to be back in two years time. I believe her tender will remain on the SVR and, after a little work, will be mated with sister loco No. 7802 `Bradley Manor'.

Pouwhenua or pou whenua (land post), are carved wooden posts used by Māori, the indigenous peoples of New Zealand to mark territorial boundaries or places of significance. They are generally artistically and elaborately carved and can be found throughout New Zealand. Much like totem poles, pou whenua tell a story. They are significant to the Māori people, representing their contributions to the cultural heritage of New Zealand. They acknowledge the association between the people (tāngata) and the land (whenua). Specifically, they reflect the relationship between the ancestors, environment, and the reputation or standing of the tangata whenua. The Pouwhenua is also a long-handled fighting staff with a club-like broad head for striking. R_26491
It's International Lego Classicist Day 2021 and this is my contribution for this year!
Ramses II. on his war chariot at the Battle of Kadesh, accompanied by archer and cheetah. The depiction of the scene is a blend between two motives.
The stylistic approach tries to recreate this image of Ramses, with hieroglyphs, cheetah and archer. While the position of the horses - to be more visible - is taken from a second image. The hieroglyphs between Ramses and the horses were spared out for artistic reasons, to have a cleaner look.
More images and details of the war chariot will follow the next days.
Happy ILCD 2021! 😊

The sculpture on the central strip of the Tauentzienstraße, between Nürnberger and Marburger Straße was created by Brigitte and Martin Matschinsky-Denninghoff in 1987 as a contribution to the sculpture boulevard and was initially purchased only temporarily, later by the Senate and placed permanently.
The monumental, gate-like sculpture made of chrome nickel steel tubes symbolized the situation of divided Berlin with their two intertwined but separated parts.
The gate formed by the sculpture is to be crossed in east-west direction. With the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church in the background, "Berlin" quickly became one of the most popular photo opportunities in Berlin.

My piece is a six-layered print, my third such experiment using the Print Gocco. Unfortunately, this particular time the Gocco inks printed a bit dark for my liking, so I had to lighten them up a tad in Photoshop. I guess with Gocco, you never really know how they're gonna turn out until you finish printing the last separation. I think from now on I should stick to prints under three or four colors until I master this new (to me) technology. I'd love to know if anybody's tried using other types of inks aside from Riso (such as Versatex) and what where their results. I find that the Gocco inks are a bit expensive (for the amount of ink you get) and difficult to mix to create the exact color and opacity I'm looking for.

My contribution for this week's theme "nature"; for the Swedish photo group Fotosondag.

My contribution for the theme "beauty and the beast."
This is my little Pino, budgerigar who knows how to be fast, charming but also stand for himself.
My soul contribution to the RHTT groups this year sees GBRf 66 797 lead another Class 66 and its squirty train past Willesden Junction Low Level Station. Last year GBRf were rotating their new Class 69s on this Broxbourne to Broxbourne RHTT run and a lot of enthusiasts were out to get shots of them. At least 66 797 seems to be in some kind of non standard paint job making it a little more interesting. My last shot of the day as it was getting very cold and overcast.
Gastown steam clock - Raymond Saunders' first steam clock was built in 1977 to solve the issue of a steam vent in a popular sidewalk for the renovated Gastown district of Vancouver, 49°17′04″N 123°06′32″W. Although the clock is now owned by the City of Vancouver, funding for the project, over $C58,000, was provided by contributions from local merchants, property owners, and private donors. Incorporating a steam engine and electric motors, the clock displays the time on four faces and announces the quarter hours with a whistle chime that plays the Westminster Quarters. The clock is featured on the cover for the 2011 Nickelback album Here and Now. [source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steam_clock]
Vancouver, officially the City of Vancouver, is a coastal seaport city on the mainland of British Columbia, Canada, and the most populous city in the province. The 2011 census recorded 603,502 people in the city, making it the eighth largest Canadian municipality. The Greater Vancouver area of around 2.4 million inhabitants is the third most populous metropolitan area in the country. Vancouver is one of the most ethnically and linguistically diverse cities in Canada; 52% of its residents have a first language other than English. Vancouver is classed as a Beta global city. The City of Vancouver encompasses a land area of about 114 square km, giving it a population density of about 5,249 people per square km (13,590 per square mi). Vancouver is the most densely populated Canadian municipality with over 250,000 residents, and the fourth most densely populated such city in North America behind New York City, San Francisco, and Mexico City. The original settlement, named Gastown, grew up on clear-cuts on the west edge of the Hastings Mill logging sawmill's property, where a makeshift tavern had been set up on a plank between two stumps and the proprietor, Gassy Jack, persuaded the curious mill-workers to build him a tavern, on 1 July 1867. From that first enterprise, other stores and some hotels quickly appeared along the waterfront to the west. Gastown became formally laid out as a registered townsite dubbed Granville, B.I. ("B.I" standing for "Burrard Inlet"). As part of the land and political deal whereby the area of the townsite was made the railhead of the CPR, it was renamed "Vancouver" and incorporated shortly thereafter as a city, in 1886. By 1887, the transcontinental railway was extended to the city to take advantage of its large natural seaport, which soon became a vital link in a trade route between the Orient, Eastern Canada, and Europe. As of 2014, Port Metro Vancouver is the third largest port by tonnage in the Americas (displacing New York), 27th in the world, the busiest and largest in Canada, and the most diversified port in North America. While forestry remains its largest industry, Vancouver is well known as an urban centre surrounded by nature, making tourism its second-largest industry. Major film production studios in Vancouver and Burnaby have turned Greater Vancouver and nearby areas into one of the largest film production centres in North America, earning it the film industry nickname, Hollywood North. Tenjyu-an Eastern Garden in front of hojo
location : Nanzenji Temple Tenjyuan ,Kyoto city ,Kyoto Prefecture,Japan
南禅寺 天授庵
Tenjyuan :
Tenjyuan is one of the most historically important temple of the Nanzenji. It was built as a dedication of the founder of the Nanzenji , Daiminkokushi Mukanfumon .
In 1267 the Emperpor Kameyama, enchanted with the natural beauty of the spot, elected a villa on the site where where the Nanzenji Temple now stands. Around 1288 the emperor was vexed by the appearance of a ghost and asked for help from Daiminkokushi ,the third Chief Priest of the Tofukuji Temple.
The priest rid Emperor Kameyama of the gost by merely performing Zazen meditations without reciting a single sutra.
The emperor was deeply moved by this demonstration of the priest's virtue and subsequently became became his disciple, giving himself the name Hoo("Great Priest").He later converted his villa into zen temple and dedicated it to Daiminkokushi. These events took place in Hoo's later years ; the priest died before the coversation of the villa was complete. It was left for a priest named Kiansoen, the successor of Daiminkokushi.to finish the work and inaugurate the zen temple. For this reason little credit for the task is given to Daiminkokushi himself. In 1336 Kokakushiren, the 15th chief priest of Nanzen Ji Temple, asked the retired Emperor Kogon for permission to construct a building commemorating the founding of the temple by Daiminkokushi.Construction on the building was completed in the following year(1337),hence the opening of the Tenjyuan.
Tenjyuan, however ,was destroyed in the Nanzenji conflagration of 1447 .Nor was the temple spared destraction by fire during the Onin War ( 1467-1477). More then 130 years passed before the temple was finally reconstructed.
Many of the temples destroyed by wars were reconstructed in the last quarter of the 16th century, when Japan enjoyed a period of political stability. The priests of Nanzenji agreed that the Tenjyuan be reconstructed by one of the most famous Zen priests of Kyoto,Genporeisan. He appointed Ungakureikei chief priest of the Tenjyuan ,and asked the daimyo Hosokawa Yusei to finance the enterprise. Thanks to generous contribution of Hosokawa, the reconstruction of the Main Hall, the Main Gate, and the old study was completed in August ,1602.These are the Tenjyuan buildings that stand today.
The garden consists of the front ,or eastern, garden of the Main Hall, and the southern garden near the Study.
***The eastern garden is a rock garden. A geometrically designed stone footpath embedded in white sand and moss connects the Main Hall with the Maingate. This footpath was made 1338 after the original construction of the Tenjyuan.
The other ,shorter stone footpath leading to Yusai's mausoleum was made after Yusai's death in1610.***
The layout of the southern garden clearly illustrates the characteristics of late 14th century landscaping. The two central islands in particular epitomize this style. A long penninsula extending from the study and a smaller penninsula extending from the other side meet to form a curling clasp, creating an eastern and western pond. The shorelines of the two ponds so divided are thus varied.
The eastern pond is smaller than the other and has a slopping bank.In addition to this landscaping technique, the arrangement of rocks near the waterfall indicates that the garden was made around the time of the construction of the Tenjyuan in 1337.

This is Stephen (I think... I am so bad with names!). He is a volunteer for the DNC and Barack Obama, and he was knocking on doors in my neighborhood. I tried to weasel out of contributing by telling him I just made a large contribution (I did... a month ago), but he was persistent. Finally, he very nicely asked if I could contribute just $10, so I said yes. After that, I asked for his photo, clipboard (so high-tech!) in hand.

My contribution to the Brick-Time Stories Collaborative at BW 2015. One of two Robin Hood creations for the collaboration. Eight builders, including Max Pointner, Ian Spacek, Matthew Oh, Lee Muzzy, Daniel Church, Ben Merrill, and Casey McCoy each built a scene from a children's picture book or novel. The scenes were constructed on bases made to look like books, and were arranged into a veritable library of illustrations at the expo.
This creation portrays the classic Robin Hood robbery in the forest. I had tons of fun building this creation, I experimented with a very Mark Erickson style landscaping, and Erickson brothers' trees. :) Gotta love the Ericksons! :D
To make it more artistic, I shaped the landscape that is popping out of the book in the shape of a bow.
Thanks for viewing, and don't forget to check out the other creations of the collaborative!

The adjustments on this one were fairly straight forward – a simple conversion to mono, tweaked by using the black and white gradient map, and a contrast boost; the final and longest task was using the clone tool to create a dark background.
This little American Pika can be forgiven for not understanding the coming devastating effects of climate change. It has a brain that is about the size of a lima bean which is engaged primarily in day to day survival. Many pikas never see a human being, so they can be forgiven for not understanding that we are directly responsible for the global warming that may very well cause the demise of some of their populations in parts of North America.
No such forgiveness should be granted to a U.S. President who, in the face of overwhelming scientific evidence, simply chooses to not believe that humans are responsible for climate change.
The National Climate Assessment draws on input from 13 federal agencies, including NASA and the Defense Department, with contributions from 300 scientists. The latest volume spans more than 1,600 pages, and a key recurring theme is that climate change will be devastating...
