Festival complètement Cirque 3 Géants- 3 Giants
LES 7 DOIGTS on the PVM Esplanade, Place Ville Marie
Montreal, Qc July 2022
The giant changes the proportions of our universe. He can become a figure of the artist, an allegory of knowledge, or a metaphor for superhumanity.
A group of workers who thrive on hard work and who flourish when together have stormed this construction site for several moons. These men and women are put to work in a highly acrobatic way to finalize this titanic undertaking and give life to this scrap metal giant. Together, they work with perseverance, authenticity, passion, conviction, stubbornness and resilience. The heart, the apparent focus of emotional turmoil, becomes the allegorical representation of the creative drive. Inspired by the intuitive movement of Les Automatistes, we offer a show that celebrates creativity in its most instinctive and visceral form. A metaphor invoking the power that collectivity can wield. A praise of the greater than self, these giants exist because we create them, because we make them live.
Contribution to MM challenge for 7/9/20 - theme: "Footwear"
Steel toe DM. Often (even at the age of 50 something!) essential gig going footwear.
I've got a strange addiction to big crowds of people/strangers with one thing in common, whether it be the band or the team. One thing I'm not addicted to is having my toes stood on. Of course I could just move my ageing bones away from the crowd but where's the fun in that!

Sligo City has a fascinating collection of original shopfronts dating back many decades. First in a short series: Lyons & Co. holds a prominent position in town, siting both on a corner and next to the post office, which you can see creeping into the scene on the right. In the First World War, a quarter of the staff volunteered to fight... and six didn't come back. To top it off, during the Irish War for Independence, employees from both sides of the conflict worked side by side during the day, and then went out to fight each other after the shop closed! San Francisco, California, USA
The Golden Gate Bridge is a suspension bridge spanning the Golden Gate, the one-mile-wide (1.6 km) strait connecting San Francisco Bay and the Pacific Ocean. The structure links the U.S. city of San Francisco, California—the northern tip of the San Francisco Peninsula—to Marin County, carrying both U.S. Route 101 and California State Route 1 across the strait. It also carries pedestrian and bicycle traffic, and is designated as part of U.S. Bicycle Route 95. Recognized by the American Society of Civil Engineers as one of the Wonders of the Modern World, the bridge is one of the most internationally recognized symbols of San Francisco and California.
The idea of a fixed link between San Francisco and Marin had gained increasing popularity during the late 19th century, but it was not until the early 20th century that such a link became feasible. Joseph Strauss served as chief engineer for the project, with Leon Moisseiff, Irving Morrow and Charles Ellis making significant contributions to its design. The bridge opened to the public in 1937 and has undergone various retrofits and other improvement projects in the decades since.
The Golden Gate Bridge is described in Frommer's travel guide as "possibly the most beautiful, certainly the most photographed, bridge in the world." At the time of its opening in 1937, it was both the longest and the tallest suspension bridge in the world, titles it held until 1964 and 1998 respectively. Its main span is 4,200 feet (1,280 m) and its total height is 746 feet (227 m).

My contribution for this week's theme «proverb/adage»; for the Swedish photo group Fotosondag.
Mitt bidrag till Fotosöndag och veckans tema «ordspråk».
My photostream, admin contributions, and montage artwork have all suffered a bit lately while I have been making preparations for a much anticipated road trip. Once again I will be driving from California across Nevada and Utah to visit my daughter and grandson in Colorado. And this time I will be packing them up and driving some more to Lander, Wyoming where we will be accommodated in “The Bunkhouse” on a llama ranch. I will keep up whenever possible, but until I return toward the end of August my comments and participation in all my favorite groups may be a bit catch-as-catch-can. Apologies in advance!
My contribution on this weeks theme 'odd' @ Fotosöndag is about an unique birding event that most Sweedes know about
The gathering of thousands of Common Cranes and people wathing them @ Lake Hornborga every spring & autumn is - in positive terms - a very unique phenomenon. The photo shows my son climbing in front of the lake, a symbol that birding can be a great family event! During the pandemic the number of people visiting the lake have been less, so social distancing were not a problem
The reasons why so many cranes makes a pitstop at this lake is a fascanating story, you can read about it at my photo Important Wetland

Galileo Galilei was an important Italian scientist, physicist, mathematician, astronomer and philosopher. His scientific contribution started a new era in the history of astronomy, he was the first astronomer to access new knowledge using the telescope. He defended the concept that the Earth was not the center of the universe.
Galileo Galilei was born in Pisa, Italy, on February 15, 1564, son of Vincenzo Galilei and Julia Ammannati. His parents noticed Galilei's great intelligence and special aptitudes from an early age. The boy showed an interest in the arts and performed excellent paintings, demonstrating manual skill and creativity to manufacture toys and contraptions. He played the organ and zither with aplomb. Thus, Galilei excelled in studies at the Sunday school in Vallombrosa and planned to enter the monastery, but his father did not agree with the idea and enrolled him to study medicine at the University of Pisa. Two years after joining, he dropped out of the course and went to dedicate himself to the study of mathematics. The move did not please his father, and Galilei ended up dropping out of the University in 1585. He did not complete any degrees, but in the same year he went to Florence and began giving private lessons to support himself. He stood out for his research in geometry and continued with his mathematical studies.
It was at this time that he invented the hydrostatic balance, a mechanism that would be published in a detailed treatise in the year 1644. In 1589, in recognition of his scientific contributions and brilliant reasoning, he was appointed to the chair of mathematics at the University of Pisa. He was not welcomed by teachers, as he was only 25 years old, had incomplete academic training and publicly discredited Aristotle's established theories. In 1590 Galilei published a treatise on the motion of bodies. In 1591 he was removed from the professorship, after succumbing to intrigues and disputes with Aristotle's supporters. In 1592 he was appointed by the Senate of Venice to teach mathematics at the University of Padua, a position he would hold for 18 years. In 1609 he built a telescope based on the one previously invented by Hans Lippershey in Holland. Galilei made meticulous observations of the sky and incredible discoveries: he located the four largest moons of Jupiter and the mountains and craters on the Moon's surface. And when he detected spots present on the Sun's surface, the discovery helped to prove his theory that the star rotated on an axis. He investigated Saturn and observed what appeared to be two fixed moons, which were the edges of Saturn's ring system, but Galilei's telescope was not accurate enough to determine exactly what those points were.
His findings were collected and published in March 1610 in the book “The Messenger of the Stars”. The work was acclaimed and also generated much controversy, as Galilei publicly defended Nicolaus Copernicus' theory that the Sun was the center of our Solar System, not the Earth. At that time, the Catholic Church fully controlled science and held the opposite view, that the center was the Earth.
In 1616 Galilei was cornered by the authorities of the Inquisition and threatened with the death penalty if he did not publicly deny the scientific truths he had proved. He was expressly prohibited from teaching and propagating ideas that were contrary to the position of the Church. Even so, in 1632 he published the "Dialogue Concerning the Two Greatest Systems of the Universe", causing the Church's total rejection and intolerance. Prevented from continuing with his research and theories, the scientist retired to his castle located in Arcetri, a village near Florence, where he dedicated himself to pursuing his experiments alone.
Galileo Galilei died on January 8, 1642 in Arcetri, Italy. He was almost blinded by the observation of sunspots done without adequate protection for decades. Three hundred and fifty years later, through Pope John Paul II, on October 31, 1992, the Catholic Church formally recognized the legitimacy of Galilei's theories.

Hello my Flickr friends!
This is my contribution to 2 awesome Flickr Groups:
*ღღ* Cosas de casa *ღღ and the theme for today is Red and Color my World Daily with the color Yellow for today.
I must admit red is a very popular color!!! And it is always interesting to see how it matches with other colors. But red and yellow? That is a major risk of burning your retina!! Be careful and please wear glasses if your eyes are sensitive to vivid color exposure!!! I don’t want to be the one telling you: I told you so!!! I know someone who looked directly at the sun and lost 10% of her vision (yes, it was a friend of mine and no it was not me!). And apparently it may also happen if you are a man and you stare at women’s cleavage…. So, Messieurs, be careful!!
So here we go, everything we need is in our purses and we are ready to climb that gigantic egg!! Who is coming with us?? Double challenge: red half of my picture is for *ღღ* Cosas de casa *ღღ and yellow half of my picture is for Color my world Daily Group!
Thank you so much for your comments /favs and support! I’m humbled and grateful!!! I wish you all an amazing day and see you soon on Flickr (how about tomorrow ??)!!

My contribution to Argus Day 2025, 25 Argust 2025.
This is the sixth time I participated in Argus Day. As last year, no double exposures, no blank shots, no ripped film, no out-of-focus shots. Still, I don't think that the Argus will become my favourite camera any time soon. Though I must say that the Cintar lens always provides nice contrasts.

Macro Mondays contribution 28 November 2016 - theme beetles/beatles.
chose this as my subject as it was no1 the day i was born. no other reason to it! The subject is the original 45 once belonging to my sister.
I actually thought there was a lot of scope this week - maybe too much, which in a way makes me feel lazy but time was/is against me.
HMM!!
... to climate protection!
Happy Blue Monday
and good luck for us all at COP24 (24th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change)
because up to now we haven't achieved much to save our planet!
This is my contribution to the fabulous Smile on Saturday Group. The theme is: “get nature in your home! “.
Please don’t judge me!!!! I have only 2 living plants in my home. One is a small cactus, and honestly, I think it is dead… and it died a long time ago…. Very harsh and long “dry” season (which is approximately 12 months in my home, from January to December;-)) might have killed it … I’m sad because it was a gift but for my defense, I must say that this Cactus never liked me!! Since day one, Mr. Cactus was giving me the stinky eye!! I swear….
The other plant living with us, was given to my youngest son by my lovely sister. It is a crassula, I know it because my sister left a description of it with all the instruction on how to water it, etc.… Luckily, she gave the instructions to my youngest son and that is why Mrs. Crassula is still alive today! He is really taking care of that plant! And I wonder where does it come from? My husband is as bad as I with plants…. Chances are his green thumb comes from my sister.
And since today is purple or pink at Color My World Daily. This is also my contribution to this awesome group.
Happy SOS and CMWD to all participants!! And for the others: have an awesome day!
Thank you so much for your support!!! I truly appreciate your positive energy!! I wish you a very happy and awesome day!!!
contribution (#2) to MM challenge for 5/8/19, theme: "Complimentary Colours"
Was tempted to do some kind of orange/blue clothing as it has been implied (twice!) that might be difficult but...!!!
My contribution to hats for Haiti. Had a hard time with the focus and timer. It's Friday and what I need is a beer so this is about as good as it's gonna get tonight. Cheers!
Every photo of you or a friend wearing a hat will help towards a donation to Haiti [3 max].
It's that simple. New photos only. More information here.
Thanks and hats off to Tony for doing this!
This is now closed .. £690 ($1,100) for Haiti raised from those who pledged!!! Some of the photos from the group will be appear in a book to raise more funds for Haiti. If you participated, see group's discussion for more information.
My contribution to Macro Mondays' challenge, "Painted", on 10 February 2020. The duckling behind the bill belongs to a family of three hand-painted balsa wood ducks - a present from a friend visiting from Indonesia. Its scratched and battered surface bears witness to the love and attention the little duck family has received over the years from grandkids and other small people. HMM.
This was my contribution to a great day in Notts today. Bit pissed off by the fact i got 5 tins of purple for the fill and the last 1 was a darker shade to rest, so my cut backs on my highlights look like dog shit! oh well. respect to all who attended. Painted along side MONO who killed it with this charactor. Joiner to follow soon. Big up to DEMS 333 who came over from spain just for today. big up to MTN for the free paint too.
My contribution for this week's theme "goods", for the Swedish photo group Fotosondag.
Sol, måne, vatten, frisk luft. Är lyckligt lottad som har ett landställe som ger dessa nyttigheter för kropp och själ. Tack, Sjöstugan!
This was my contribution to the Guilds of Historica collaboration at Brickworld this year. I built the entire landscape and started on the buildings, before getting Isaac’s help to finish the model in time. The base split into three portions, and all the buildings were easily removable to allow for convenient transport of the build. It had been a while since I’d done a proper Middle Eastern scene, so it was a really fun build and I think turned out as one of my best Castle models yet.
Be sure to check out multiple pictures, as the build is viewable from all sides. More angles and close ups available on Brickbuilt.
