Maasvlakte 2 is a major civil engineering project in the Netherlands, constructing a new port and supporting infrastructure on reclaimed land adjoining the Maasvlakte. Approximately 2000 hectares will be reclaimed, behind a 4 km dike; approximately 1000 hectares will be used by ports related industries. It is an extension of the Port of Rotterdam.
Maasvlakte 2 is the biggest civil engineering project in the Netherlands since the Delta Works. The area opened on 22 May 2013.
Container terminal operators APM Terminals and Rotterdam World Gateway began construction of their terminals in 2012. The APM terminal opened in April 2015. Rotterdam World Gateway (RWG) is the main competitor for European Container Terminals (ECT), currently the biggest operator of a container terminal in Rotterdam. RWG's terminal includes a 20-meter deep dock and its own railroad station, and would be capable of handling 2.35 million containers annually.

This spherical container has been engineered to house the most scientifically valuable cargo imaginable – samples brought back from the Red Planet. Weighing less than 5 kg, this 23 cm-diameter sphere has been designed to keep martian samples in pristine condition at a temperature of under -10°C throughout their long journey back to Earth. The container seen here hosts 11 sealable receptacles, including one set aside for a sample of martian air. First the sample container must be landed on Mars, along with a rover to retrieve a cache of samples carefully selected by a previous mission, according to the current mission scenario. Then, once filled, it will be launched back up to Mars orbit. There it will remain for several days until a rendezvous spacecraft performs its capture in an autonomous way. To ease the process of rendezvous, the sample container is equipped with a radio emitter and retro-reflectors for close-up laser ranging. Before being returned to Earth, the container will be enclosed in another larger bio-sealed container ensuring a perfect containment of any returned martian material. This container will then be returned to Earth for a high velocity re-entry.

Container Ship arriving from Grangemouth to unload and load. IMO 9344722,this vessel is registered in The Marshall Islands, has a deadweight of 22263 tones, measures 179mx27 and was built in 2007
Nate made this awesome container port for the PennLUG layout, and I made the water (with tile-laying help from various PennLUG members).
CN ES44AC 2882 leans into a curve at Leiste Road in Munger as it heads north for Canada with double stacks (Q117?). Choices for nose light for northbounds this time of year is limited, but did ok with this location, not realizing that the two crossings behind the train were more east-west and would have offered more sun. If anyone happens to have the symbol for this one, please drop it in the comments.

Houses made from cargo containers, right down the street from my house! These are so cool. And they say that the power bill shouldn't get over $40/month. I believe these are the ones made from four 8-by-32 foot shipping containers ("one-trippers" emptied of cargo at American docks) that will be assembled into a nearly 1,300-square-foot home.

The Gurdergen are a race primarily concerned with trade and commerce. This container transport is one of their most craft and can be seen in friendly ports throughout the galaxy.
Its most recognisable feature is the four underslung cargo attachments which augment the internal cargo capacity. Various types of containers can be attached here via magnetic means; hazardous materials in particular are favourite candidates for external carrying as they can be easily jettisoned in case of contamination.
The ship is unarmed and slow; it requires escort to keep it safe. The high volume of cargo capacity makes it an attractive target to pirates and other economic raiders.
