This container depot, just to the west of Bristol, has sprung up since I returned to the railway hobby in 2007. A Class 66 locomotive can often be seen stabled here waiting for its next duty, as is the case in this view. The 10:20 Bristol Parkway - Weston-super-Mare service passes the site in the care of a pair of Class 153 units. The viewpoint is the road bridge at the western end of Parson Street station; the track in the bottom right-hand corner leads to Royal Portbury Dock and will one day carry passenger trains to and from Portishead again.

An early morning stop near Stewartby in July 1991 was timed to capture the departure of BR Trainload Construction 56110 with the return empty waste containers on FUA wagons, 6O77 08:33 from Forders Sidings to Hoo Junction Yard.

I don't know how to explain this phenomenon, but a container ship out on the North Sea appears to be reflected - and both the ship and the reflection seem to be floating above the horizon. Seen off the Essex coast, taken with a 500mm lens, but this is cropped to show about a quarter of the whole frame. D500_76216.NEF
I had no tripod and had to shoot this landscape wide open (lol) in order to keep the iso reasonably low, yet at a shutter speed of 1/15s, and the shot still came out tack sharp, wow
These are from a ferry trip I took from Oakland to SF. I recommend it highly if you are visiting the Bay Area...but only if you have nice weather!!! up close and personal
