Another non-starter from today's Macro Mondays' #contained theme
A slice of lemon, with a pip happily buried and looking very snug.
The colour was created using a lens filter adjustment, with a 'contrast negate' blend (whatever that is).

Norwich Cathedral
Seen here under a blanket of winter snow, Norwich Cathedral sits at the heart of its close, the great Norman building clearly defined from the air by its cruciform plan and enclosed cloister. With trees bare and the city hushed, the geometry of nave, transepts and cloister becomes especially clear, revealing the careful order imposed on this landscape nearly a thousand years ago.
The cathedral was founded in 1096 by Herbert de Losinga, the first Bishop of Norwich, and largely completed by 1145. Built of Caen stone imported from Normandy, it is one of the finest Romanesque cathedrals in Europe. Its spire, rebuilt in stone in 1480 after earlier wooden versions, rises to 315 feet, making it the second tallest in England after Salisbury. The cloister, begun in 1297 and completed in the mid-14th century, is the largest monastic cloister in the country and the only one with a complete sequence of medieval roof bosses.
From above, the cathedral’s relationship with the surrounding Close is unmistakable: a self-contained precinct set apart from the streets beyond, originally housing monks of the Benedictine priory that once dominated this part of Norwich. In winter, snow softens the roofs and paths, but the structure itself remains unchanged — a place shaped by faith, continuity, and time.
The English Lake District is a self-contained mountainous area in North West England of some 2,292 square kilometres. Its narrow, glaciated valleys radiating from the central massif with their steep hillsides and slender lakes exhibit an extraordinary beauty and harmony. This is the result of the Lake District’s continuing distinctive agro-pastoral traditions based on local breeds of sheep including the Herdwick, on common fell-grazing and relatively independent farmers. These traditions have evolved under the influence of the physical constraints of its mountain setting. The stone-walled fields and rugged farm buildings in their spectacular natural backdrop, form an harmonious beauty that has attracted visitors from the 18th century onwards. Picturesque and Romantic interest stimulated globally-significant social and cultural forces to appreciate and protect scenic landscapes. Distinguished villas, gardens and formal landscapes were added to augment its picturesque beauty. The Romantic engagement with the English Lake District generated new ideas about the relationship between humanity and its environment, including the recognition of harmonious landscape beauty and the validity of emotional response by people to their landscapes. A third key development was the idea that landscape has a value, and that everyone has a right to appreciate and enjoy it. These ideas underpin the global movement of protected areas and the development of recreational experience within them. The development in the English Lake District of the idea of the universal value of scenic landscape, both in itself and in its capacity to nurture and uplift imagination, creativity and spirit, along with threats to the area, led directly to the development of a conservation movement and the establishment of the National Trust movement, which spread to many countries, and contributed to the formation of the modern concept of legally-protected landscapes.
Brian thought it best to make a quick exit before he ended up on the dinner table...
The term 'nested' refers to a set of objects that can be stacked together, each fitting within another. This 'nest' is a stack of very small dishes used for condiments such as soy sauce to accompany a Chinese meal.

“And I write poetry on anything that comes to hand .., pink paper with yellow lines all creased and crumpled and slightly torn; brown paper bags that once contained Shiitake mushrooms for a soup; my favourite dark chocolate with sea salt cardboard wrappers and empty envelopes with stamps from far-off places where I will never go or never go again. Poets write on anything that comes to hand.
And I know the anxiety of being a wallflower
and I know all the perks.
And I know all the jerks that passed me by
or those that tried to prise me from the wall.
And I know what the cold is like
when I'm on the outside looking in.
And I know who will be there to catch me when I fall.
And I know what it's like to be a lost soul
wandering alone in the Universe.
And I know what it's like to find a friendship
that fills up all the gaps in me;
completes me like nothing else could ever do.
And I know what it's like to lose myself when I lost you
and the Universe imploded in on me.
And I know what it's like to miss you every day to Infinity and Beyond … simply é …
And I know more much more ...” - AP

Lights & Motion ~ "We Are Infinite"
CIPRIAN …
Eyes so brown with flecks of yellow
nutbrown struck by sunlight
walk through fields of Springtime meadows
wildflowers swaying in delight
arm in arm and minds on nothing
living dreams that lift our souls
stop to eat when we get hungry
sip mushroom soup from chipped and yellowed melamine bowls
exchanging glances shyly hesitant
small smiles turned up at the corners
I did not know this was goodbye
that I would be an absentee among the mourners
how many years has it been now
it feels like only yesterday
still I think I'll one day see you
when the rain storms come and slant my way
I left the crucifix to dangle
to keep me safe on the less-travelled road
I think of that small clip from that film I did not show here
that one entwined within our code
we talked in shorthand when we spoke
or with a smile or with our eyes
the friendship rose and fell again
then rose again just like the sunrise
some things may always be left unspoken
sometimes words are not enough
but we knew that friendship lasts
beyond infinity although it's tough
I still read your poetry
still read between those beautiful lines
and browse through your photography
so much deleted those words of mine
but not your fault but deep within me
was something broken and you could see
and though I did not realise it back then
you protected me from knowing your destiny
I can thank you for many reasons
for being there throughout my trials
a rock a guiding hand held out through all four seasons
remembering your beautiful smiles
to feel the love you had for life
still tangible though you are gone
I can feel you close beside me
whenever I need to be more strong
I rarely met anyone else like you
whose aura was so bright
you saw behind my eyes of blue
to the sorrow that denied my light
you never gave up on me I know
you wanted me to know what life is for
I try to remember all you taught me
I miss you always and simply more …

Dedicated to my beloved friend, Ciprian
A poet and the most beautiful human being you could ever wish to meet. To know him was to love him and when he passed he left the biggest hole in the Universe. I don't think I shall ever see his like again in this incarnation anyway …
Two long years and I still miss you though you are everywhere
In the rain and in the yellow
To Infinity and beyond … simply é …
Iubirea mea pentru tine nu va muri niciodata
We spoke mostly in French, but I did try to speak Romanian sometimes and he would smile indulgently. He recognised the child-like innocence in me that wants everyone and everything to be alright. He encouraged me in my writing and indulged my childish tantrums because he knew that like all things they would pass and he knew the reasons for them and accepted my brokeness because it is part of who I am. That was Ciprian … all-accepting; never just loving one small part of me, but embracing all of me with all the frailties and complexities within my nature. Oh, and one more thing, he loved cats and I would have loved him just for that ; 0) There are many different kinds of love. Our love was pure. The love borne of friendship and shared love of poetry and our minds always questioning everything.
I send my love and respect to dear Ciprian's wife who made his life so very happy. She was the love of his life and he of hers. If I feel the loss of my friend so deeply I can only imagine how hard it is for her to bear. My heart goes out to her on this day, the second anniversary of his passing.
Friday morning I woke up to news of Possible river flooding due to rain and melting snow. I went to nearby Sheboygan Falls to check out the situation . The river was not as dramatic as had been predicted, but it was still interesting. As it was a gray day with drizzle, I decide to shoot in b&w mode.
This shot is taken from the overlook next to the Sheboygan River and just beyond the falls. I like it for both the water action and the wrought iron fence. The title comes from the possibility that the fence is containing the water's fury, or at least protecting the viewer from it.

Dundee Hills is contained within the Willamette Valley AVA. It is located 28 miles southwest of Portland and 40 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean. Rising above the low, flat floors of the surrounding Willamette and Chehalem Valleys, the Dundee Hills offer spectacular views, including Mt. Hood and Mt. Jefferson’s majestic snowy peaks.
Powderham Castle
'Powderham Castle is located in a unique, picturesque setting just outside Exeter, beside the Exe estuary. Six hundred years of history are contained within the walls of one of England's oldest family homes. Sir Philip Courtenay began building it in 1391 and it has remained in the same family to this day, currently home to the 18th Earl & Countess of Devon'..

Being a guy it's harder to be expressive and instead be forced to contain whatever pain, sadness or tears. But that container isn't going to hold everything forever.
For Macro Mondays - Contained
This is a little compartment (5,5cmx6cm) of a magic box, made for the Exquisite Corpse Game. Choose well your paper rolls ! ;-)
A few coins that are contained in a small wooden bowl made by my father years ago. There is even a wooden lid too so nobody would even know we have all this money just laying around the house.
The bowl is three inches across so I didn't include all of it to be safe.
For Macro Mondays.
This week's theme: contained.

Imagine that liquid were Kryptonite. And just one single, tiny droplet would do your entire housecleaning for you in the blink of an eye... wash the dishes, clean the windows, swipe'n'wipe the floors, dust the shelves, do the laundry... you name it, "Kryptie" does it. If only... *sigh* ;-) In reality this is bland, colourless dish detergent which is contained, together with the dosing pump, in a Hulk-green, translucent, sturdy, refillable soap dispenser. Shook it a little to get some nice bubbles, placed the dispenser on a clamp (on a glass table) so it would be slightly raised (and wouldn't roll away all the time as well), lit it from below, set the in-camera ratio to 1:1 to make the positioning / composing as a square-format image, with the visible part of the small tube placed exactly in the corners, easier, and shot it from straight above, lens pointing down, camera mounted safely, snugly and hassle-free on my macro-tripod. Processed in Luminar 3, not 4. I have decided to keep Luminar 3 next to 4, because as much as I like the "Sky Replacement" feature (although I've only ever used it once so far), I really don't like the new, "over-simplified" user interface at all. Version 3's UI is logical, well laid-out, self-explanatory, easy to use, while in version 4... it seems that by trying to make things super easy they actually made everything more complicated ;-)
HMM, and a Happy New Year Everyone!
Wunschdenken
Entwickelt in Luminar 3.
