Centaurium erythraea (Gentianaceae) 170 21
Centaurium erythraea is a species of flowering plant in the gentian family known by the common names common centaury and European centaury.
It is a widespread plant of Europe (including Scotland, Sweden, and Mediterranean countries) and parts of western Asia and northern Africa.
This is an erect biennial herb that reaches half a meter in height. It grows from a small basal rosette and bolts a leafy, erect stem with many branches.
The erect inflorescences emerge from the stem and grow parallel to it, sometimes tangling with the foliage. Each inflorescence may contain many flowers. The petite flower is pinkish-lavender. It flowers from June until September.

A widefield view of Cassiopeia and Cepheus containing a variety of objects including the Bubble Nebula – lower center aka NGC7635, Shapless-162 or Caldwell 11, which is an HII emission region that contains a bubble structure created by stellar wind from a massive hot star. It is estimated to be anywhere from 7100 to 11,000 lightyears from earth. Another prominent object is the Lobster Claw Nebula or Sharpless-157 on the right side of the frame at about 11,050 lightyears distant. On the left side of the frame is the huge diffuse nebula Sharpless 161 which is studded with the bright nebula NGC7538 sometimes called the Northern Lagoon Nebula or Brain Nebula, (both are about 9100 lightyears distant). Aside from these glowing gas regions there are two prominent star clusters: NGC7510 aka the Dormouse or Arrowhead Cluster and The Cassiopeia Salt and Pepper Cluster (M52, NGC7654).

MAKE ME SMILE – STEVE HARLEY & COCKNEY REBEL
A bono fide street photographer
took a picture of me
he couldn't wait to show the results
his smile was full of glee
I said it only fair then
to take his picture too
but I am just a point and shoot
one click and that will do
he was happy to oblige
his face was wreathed in smiles
he posed among the superheroes
he added to my golden miles
travelling is such fun and bliss
to meet all kinds of folks
life is a bowl of delicious cocktails
all stirred and mixed and sharing jokes
I never even asked his name
and he didn't ask for mine
we were both happy to be in this moment
sharing our love of photographic lines
we felt a kindred spirit and bathed
in a glowing instant friendship made
and just as suddenly as we had bonded
we parted ways and neither stayed
no backward glances
no fond farewells
but through our photographs
the memory dwells.

I am a fan of the movie Pan’s Labyrinth, and for those of you who don’t know it, here is a link to its trailer.
www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVZRnnVSQ8k
It is a haunting movie, that is both childlike in its fantasy, and extremely adult, in the bleakness of its reality, and a warning should be given, as the content of the movie is at times brutal. It is one of over 700 movies I watched after 9 11, as I gave up watching TV, after that event. No doubt a little inspired by Pan’s Labyrinth I started to or tried to recently, read up on Basque folk law, and disappointingly, I found not much of anything, except a description of a female deity’s influence over the weather. This lack of easily accessible recorded history of Basque folk law, seemed to me to be a shame, and as always and not surprisingly, there was a reference to the Church as to why it did not survive. Strangely it was backed up in the wiki entry, that the deities name helped acclimatized the Basque people to the church.
As the story would go, or have it, the deity and her lover would influence the weather based on their actions. And it seemed like they had the upmost power, as they influenced life and or death. They had control over water, fire, earth and the sun, which I presume would have been the main influences on man and woman, pre-Basque conversion to Christianity.
Did the Spanish experience of the Basque, effect the spread of Spanish Catholicism? Was it a contributary factor in the failure of Catholicism to extinguish tribal, native or indigenous spirituality in its entirety. Had this event in Basque country, effected the tribes and cultures of the Spanish new world? With the official university narrative, (and if you don’t know, a narrative, is a story). The story is that it was the church, as in the Catholic church, had caused as part of colonialism the genocide of indigenous religions, and or peoples. And it must be stated here, before l go on, that they did play a significant role in colonisation. And at times that colonisation was brutal. The destruction of Chthonic religions, or their history was a loss. The loss of our belief systems based on as the Greeks would say of the earth or soil. But this article or consideration is not about loss. In this extension of my diary entry, I celebrate the failure of the Catholics. Yes, I celebrate, that pretty much everywhere they went, when it came to cultural genocide, that despite the best attempts by some groups to implement the act in its totality, if there was a significant Catholic influence it had failed.
What had happened in Basque country? Why had it failed to happen in other places? What made it so that it, cultural genocide had not happened, in other societies around the world? What happened where the Church, or to be more specific Catholicism had miraculously failed to exterminate, folk law, and the indigenous spiritualities and or religions, in their entirety. Had the Basques surrendered part of themselves and effected the world? Maybe they didn’t surrender anything at all, because that does not seem like a Basque quality. Maybe the entropy of their pre-Christianity existence pushed back, on the thing that influenced them. And maybe that event had altered at least in part, that vector of change forever.
My respect is just not lip service, as once, when l was presented with an extremely difficult situation, someone suggested I smells the earth, as it was. I thought they were referencing that I would be joining it soon. I doubled down, on what I presume was and ancient saying, and process, one that I presume had been tested repeatedly. One of acclimatization as to where I would hopefully rest. Like most humans one way or another do. An event, like everyone, except those that cast their bodies from the Earth into space will experience.
These considerations of death, and or genocide, led me to study it in the arts. As a result, of that intellectual journey, I found myself talking to an Australian Aboriginal woman at university, we talked about Truganini. This wonderful person informed me, that Truganini had wanted to be burnt after her death or to be cremated. We spoke a little more about her. We spoke about her corpse exhibited like a taxidermized animal, cursed to be gazed upon. We discussed the topic a little, and I expressed, that what she had asked to have done, would have been a very heavy spiritual thing to do. She would spread through the air, through the water, then back into the earth, and her entropy would affect everything. And everything would react to her entropy for ever. To me, it seemed like she would never rest, and I wept a little, in front of my new friend. I wept a little, as the thought of eternal work is not, and never should be taken lightly. I wondered, I wondered about the people who would do such a thing, and how she, Truganini would, or could, have been condemned to have her imaged used as a spectacle, for what must seem like an eternity. It appeared to me that even without burning her body, she had hexed those through her fate. A karma of sorts, not for her, but for those that did not consider her human enough to be left alone after death. All that would look at her, or upon her, would suffer a fate. She had cast a spell on those that gazed on her, to look a little into themselves, changing something in all who saw her. And despite the offer to look at her, it was a visual, I never wanted, or want to see. I said to her, my confidant of the briefest time, that “...Some things should not be looked at….”
And soon after, instead of smelling the earth, I tasted it.

“God utters me like a word containing a partial thought of Himself.”
-Thomas Merton, New Seeds of Contemplation, 37.
If we really want prayer, we’ll have to give it time. We must slow down to a human tempo. . . .The reason why we don’t take time is a feeling that we have to keep moving. This is a real sickness. . . .We live in the fullness of time. Every moment is God’s own good time. . . . The whole thing boils down to giving ourselves in prayer a chance to realize that we have what we seek. We don’t have to rush after it. It is there all the time, and if we give it time it will make itself known to us. (TM Monk 81)

The Plaza de España - Seville
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plaza_de_Espa%C3%B1a,_Seville
The Plaza de España ("Spain Square", in English) is a plaza in the Parque de María Luisa (Maria Luisa Park), in Seville, Spain. It was built in 1928 for the Ibero-American Exposition of 1929. It is a landmark example of Regionalism Architecture, mixing elements of the Baroque Revival, Renaissance Revival and Moorish Revival (Neo-Mudéjar) styles of Spanish architectureMaria Luisa Park
Main article: Maria Luisa Park
In 1929, Seville hosted the Ibero-American Exposition World's Fair, located in the celebrated Maria Luisa Park (Parque de María Luisa). The park gardens were designed by Jean-Claude Nicolas Forestier. The entire southern end of the city was redeveloped into an expanse of gardens and grand boulevards.
The centre of it is Parque de María Luisa, designed in a "Moorish paradisical style", with a half mile of tiled fountains, pavilions, walls, ponds, benches, and exhedras; lush plantings of palms, orange trees, Mediterranean pines, and stylized flower beds. Numerous buildings were constructed in the park to provide spaces for the exhibition.
Plaza de España
The Plaza de España, designed by Aníbal González, was a principal building built on the Maria Luisa Park's edge to showcase Spain's industry and technology exhibits. González combined a mix of 1920s Art Deco and Spanish Renaissance Revival, Spanish Baroque Revival and Neo-Mudéjar styles. The Plaza de España complex is a huge half-circle; the buildings are accessible by four bridges over the moat, which represent the ancient kingdoms of Spain. In the centre is the Vicente Traver fountain.
Many tiled alcoves were built around the plaza, each representing a different province of Spain. The Plaza's tiled Alcoves of the Provinces are frequent backdrops for visitors' portrait photographs, taken in their own home province. Each alcove is flanked by a pair of covered bookshelves, now used by visitors in the manner of a "Little Free Library". Each bookshelf often contains works with information about their province. Visitors have also donated favorite novels and other books for others to read.
Today the buildings of the Plaza de España have been renovated and adapted for use as offices for government agencies. The central government departments, with sensitive adaptive redesign, are located within it. Toward the end of the park, the grandest mansions from the fair have been adapted as museums. The most distant museum contains the city's archaeology collections. The main exhibits are Roman mosaics and artefacts from nearby Italica.
The Plaza de España has been used as a filming location, including scenes for Lawrence of Arabia (1962). The building was used as a location in the Star Wars movie series Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones (2002) — in which it featured in exterior shots of the City of Theed on the Planet Naboo. It also featured in the 2012 film The Dictator.
The plaza was used as a set for the video of Simply Red's song "Something Got Me Started".
York Minster, formally the Cathedral and Metropolitical Church of Saint Peter in York, is an Anglican cathedral in the city of York, North Yorkshire, England. The minster is the seat of the archbishop of York, the second-highest office of the Church of England, and is the mother church for the diocese of York and the province of York. It is administered by its dean and chapter. The minster is a Grade I listed building and a scheduled monument.
The first record of a church on the site dates to 627; the title "minster" also dates to the Anglo-Saxon period, originally denoting a missionary teaching church and now an honorific. The minster undercroft contains re-used fabric of c. 1160, but the bulk of the building was constructed between 1220 and 1472. It consists of Early English Gothic north and south transepts, a Decorated Gothic nave and chapter house, and a Perpendicular Gothic eastern arm and central tower.
The minster retains most of its medieval stained glass, a significant survival among European churches. The east window, which depicts the Last Judgment, is the largest expanse of medieval stained glass in the world. The north transept contains the Five Sisters window, which consists of five lancets, each over 53 feet (16.3 m) high, filled with grisaille glass.

A bottle originally containing liquid bandage. The section shown is about 1¼ x 1¼" (31.75 x 31.75mm). The neck is just a shade over ⅝" in diameter (about 17mm). I used the light box I made (and resurrected from nearly burning up from being left on too long after that photoshoot; I added thermal protection to prevent that from happening again) to light the bottle up from below.
Due to the nature of the product, getting the bottle's interior absolutely clean was impossible.

'I Contain Multitudes' was created from a photo of a sunflower. It refers to God's promise to Abraham, and draws its title from lines in a Walt Whitman poem. it is a part of the Botanical beauty exhibition in Jerusalem.
People give flowers as presents because flowers contain the true meaning of love. Anyone tries to possess a flower will have to watch its beauty fading. But if you simply look at a flower on a field, you will keep it forever, because the flower is part of the evening and the sunset and the smell of damp earth and the clouds on the horizon. (Paulo Coelho)

Haggis is a savoury pudding containing sheep's pluck (heart, liver, and lungs), minced with onion, oatmeal, suet, spices, and salt, mixed with stock, and cooked while traditionally encased in the animal's stomach[1] though now often in an artificial casing instead. According to the 2001 English edition of the Larousse Gastronomique: "Although its description is not immediately appealing, haggis has an excellent nutty texture and delicious savoury flavour".[2]
Je confirme: c'est délicieux!
Taken yesterday. I was just drawn to the faint details.

Croatia is a country in Southeast Europe. It borders Slovenia to the northwest, Hungary to the northeast, Serbia to the east, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Montenegro to the southeast, sharing a maritime border with Italy. Croatia was part of the former Yugoslavia. A population of 4 million, most of whom are Catholics. Zagreb is the capital. Balanced between the Balkans and Central Europe, this country has been passed between rival kingdoms, empires and republics for thousands of years. If there is an advantage to this ongoing disruption, it is in the rich cultural legacy each has left behind. From Venetian palaces, Napoleonic fortresses, Slavic churches, Viennese mansions to socialist sculptures. But most attraction is the coastline with the remarkable clarity of the water and white pebbly beach. Despite being the fastest rising holiday destination in Europe in the past decade, Croatia still doesn't feel overrun by tourists. There are long sandy and winding beaches too, perfect for lazy days. Croatia is a beautiful country to discover many different landscapes. Dubrovnik is according to many one of the most beautiful cities on the Adriatic coast. This city in Croatia is also called the Pearl of the Adriatic. The historic center, or rather the completely walled fortress city of Dubrovnik, is on the list of UNESCO World Heritage. This part is still in a remarkably good condition. A wonderful place to discover on foot, it is a city with a diverse, but also rough past. Remarkably, the Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque churches, as well as the various monasteries, palaces and fountains have been preserved. They all tell their own story from the Middle Ages.
Dubrovnik is a city on the Adriatic Sea in southern Croatia. It is one of the most prominent tourist destinations in the Mediterranean Sea. The history of the city probably dates back to the 7th century. The city is completely surrounded by defensive walls and fortresses. Franciscan Church and Monastery is situated at the Placa, the main street of Dubrovnik. It's a large complex consists of a monastery, a church, a library and a pharmacy. This church is lovely inside. The library contains over 70,000 books. The earliest monastery was built in the 13th century. The monastery was built in 1360 in late Romanesque style. A beautiful cloister garden hidden away from the busy tourist places in Dubrovnik. Peaceful and silent despite being in the heart of the old city this is a tiny and unexpected oasis of green within historic architecture. Still a sacred place but with a small museum of artefacts and paintings. The pharmacy dates from 1317 and is the oldest still functioning pharmacy in the Europe Photo taken from 14th-century fortress Tvrđava Minčeta located at the highest point of Dubrovnik offering panoramic city & sea views.

Ortygia (Italian: Ortigia) is a small island which is the historical centre of the city of Syracuse, Sicily. The island, also known as Città Vecchia (Old City), contains many historical landmarks. The name originates from the Ancient Greek ortyx (ὄρτυξ) which means "Quail".
Ortygia is located at the eastern end of Syracuse and is separated from it by a narrow channel. Three bridges connect the island to mainland Sicily. The island is an extremely popular place for tourism, shopping, entertainment and also a residential area.

EN: The first bulgaria class 07 loco, 07 001, is shunting at Ловеч-Север/Lovech-Sever station with some freight cars containing scrap metal. The engine arrived with a single open freight wagon as ЛТВ 24792 from Троян/Trojan earlier. Now the other cars have to be weighed at the northern end of the station. During this maneuvre the in my eyes stunning socialist platform underpass is passed. When the shunting is finished, the whole train now consisting of eleven cars will continue on towards Левски/Levski, where this branch line meets the main line. The picture was taken using a drone.
This is an outstanding example of Gothic architecture. Building began in 1209 but the Cathedral was not officially consecrated until 1326.It contains all the hallmarks of the great Fench cathedrals of the time. In 1570 following the Ottoman conquest of the city it was converted into a mosque .
With the trees dropping their leaves on the line it is once again the time of the year when the RHTT (Rail Head Treatment Trains) can be seen spraying the tracks in an attempt to keep them leaf free. Leaves contain natural oils that make for slippy rails and to combat this problem the rail network is sprayed with water to clear away the leaves.
As can be seen this is a messy job that soon has the lovely Colas locomotive livery looking thoroughly filthy. 66848 and 56105 top and tail this service as it enters Hatfield and Stainforth station
The lake contains borax islands, whose white color contrasts with the reddish color of its waters, which is caused by red sediments and pigmentation of some algae.
James's flamingos abound in the area Also it is possible to find Andean and Chilean flamingos, but in a minor quantity.
