Jaisalmer, nicknamed "The Golden city", is a town in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is located 575 kilometres west of the state capital Jaipur. It was once known as Jaisalmer state.
Jaisalmer is named after its founder Maharawal Jaisal Singh, a Rajput king in 1156 AD. "Jaisalmer" means "the Hill Fort of Jaisal". Jaisalmer is sometimes called the "Golden City of India" because the yellow sand and the yellow sandstone used in every architecture of the city gives a yellowish-golden tinge to the city and its surrounding area.
The town stands on a ridge of yellowish sandstone, crowned by a fort, which contains the palace and several ornate Jain temples. Many of the houses and temples are finely sculptured. It lies in the heart of the Thar Desert (great Indian desert) and has a population of about 78,000. It is the administrative headquarters of Jaisalmer District.

The shell of the common Garden snail, Cornu aspersum, contains pigment-containing cells known as chromatophores. A physiological colour change can be initiated in these cells to allow the animal to change its colour to match its surroundings and so provide protective camouflage. The mechanism is similar to that found in cephalopods such as cuttlefish and octopus, although the snail is much slower to produce the colour change than these other molluscs.

The church contains over 7500 square meters of mosaics, more than any other church in the world. Jasmine is a genus of shrubs and vines in the olive family (Oleaceae). It contains around 200 species native to tropical and warm temperate regions of Eurasia and Oceania. Jasmines are widely cultivated for the characteristic fragrance of their flowers. Jasminum fluminense (which is sometimes known by the inaccurate name Brazilian Jasmine and Jasminum dichotomum (Gold Coast Jasmine) are invasive species in Hawaii and Florida. Mantodea (or mantises, mantes) is an order of insects that contains over 2,400 species and about 430 genera in 15 families worldwide in temperate and tropical habitats. Most of the species are in the family Mantidae.
The English common name for the order is the mantises, or rarely (using a Latinized plural of Greek mantis), the mantes. The name mantid refers only to members of the family Mantidae, which was, historically, the only family in the Order, but with 14 additional families recognized in recent decades, this term can be confusing. The other common name, often applied to any species in the order, is "praying mantis", because of the typical "prayer-like" posture with folded fore-limbs, although the eggcorn "preying mantis" is sometimes used in reference to their predatory habits. In Europe and other regions, however, the name "praying mantis" refers to only a single species, Mantis religiosa. The closest relatives of mantises are the termites and cockroaches (order Blattodea). Historical country house also to be opened to the public
As of 1 September, the Rijksmuseum Amsterdam will be using the historical country house, Trompenburg, as an extra location. Trompenburg, which is close to Hilversum, was built after 1677 by Admiral Cornelis Tromp (1621-1691), the son of the legendary Admiral Maarten Harpertsz Tromp. The residence, that was built to resemble a ship, will be open for use by the Rijksmuseum from 1 April to 1 October for holding lectures, small conferences and small-scale exhibitions. In addition, Trompenburg will also be opened to the public a few times each year.
A monument for the Tromp family
Throughout the years, Trompenburg House has been a home to different families, and has been in the care of the Government Buildings Agency as a monument since 1938. Cornelis Tromp, who was the commander-in-chief of the Dutch and Danish fleet, built Trompenburg as a monument for himself and his ancestors, his father in particular. The Tromp family's glory is the theme of the dome hall - which can be seen as the maritime answer to the Oranjezaal, the central chamber in Huis ten Bosch Palace. The dome hall contains the portraits of father and son Tromp and both their wives, portraits of the ships and the naval battles.
Decoration and exhibitions
Trompenburg will not be used for large exhibitions, as the country residence is too small. However, the Rijksmuseum is considering whether the house could be decorated with art works on a limited scale. Where possible, any art work that is selected will be in keeping with the themes of life on a 17th Century country estate and the maritime history of the period of 1630 and 1690.
Due to the limited capacity of Trompenburg House, the exhibitions as well as the lectures and conferences will all be small-scale. The house will be opened to the public once a month during the April-October season (six times in total). A steward will reside at Trompenburg House.
This palace, which means ‘Stone House’, contains Khiva’s most sumptuous interior decoration, dense with blue ceramic tiles, carved wooden pillars and elaborate ghanch. Built by Allakuli Khan between 1832 and 1841 as a more splendid alternative to the Kuhna Ark, it’s said to have more than 150 rooms off nine courtyards, with high ceilings designed to catch the slightest desert breeze. Allakuli was a man in a hurry – the Tosh-Hovli’s first architect was executed for failing to complete the job in two years.

At the end of the boulevard to the west and where the end of Ondaretta beach is, one comes to a point where three pieces of steel cling to the rocks. This work of art is called "El Peine del Viento" (the Comb of the Wind) and was created by the Basque sculptor Eduardo Chillida. Eduardo Chillida anchored the three sculptures to the rocks so that the incoming wind would be continually "combed" at La Concha Bay.
The artwork was placed in the bay in 1977 in collaboration with the (environmental) architect Luis Peña Ganchegui. The artwork consists of granite terraces with three Corten steel sculptures on top. Each of the three steel sculptures weighs around 10 tons.
These sculptures have been positioned in the place where the city ends and the sea begins, where the waves embrace the stark escarpments of Monte Igeldo. This is a place where the wind and the sea beat together, whipping the rocks with a sense of abandonment. Nature and art blend together and appear as one, and the positioning of the sculpture pieces makes them appear to emerge from the rocks themselves, almost as if they were a part of them.
Because the artwork contains air holes, the sculpture can produce a special sound during stormy days because of the brutal waves in combination with the image of splashing water.

Tulips (Tulipa) form a genus of spring-blooming perennial herbaceous bulbiferous geophytes (having bulbs as storage organs). The flowers are usually large, showy and brightly colored, generally red, pink, yellow, or white (usually in warm colors). They often have a different colored blotch at the base of the tepals (petals and sepals, collectively), internally. Female spiders produce either one egg sac containing several to a thousand eggs or several egg sacs each with successively fewer eggs. Females of many species die after producing the last egg sac. Others provide care for the young for some period of time; these females live one or, at most, two years. Females of the mygalomorph spiders may live up to 25 years and those of the primitive haplogyne spiders up to 10 years.
The protective egg sac surrounding the eggs of most spiders is made of silk. Although a few spiders tie their eggs together with several strands of silk, most construct elaborate sacs of numerous layers of thick silk. Eggs, which often have the appearance of a drop of fluid, are deposited on a silk pad and then wrapped and covered so that the finished egg sac is spherical or disk-shaped. The females of many species place the egg sac on a stalk, attach it to a stone, or cover it with smooth silk before abandoning it. Other females guard their egg sacs or carry them either in their jaws or attached to the spinnerets.

Center upper right - IC410 (The Tadpoles Nebula) a dusty emission nebula/stellar nursery at about 12.000 light years from Earth that illuminated by the star cluster NGC1893 which is about 4 million years old so still relatively young. The nebula is noted for the ”tadpole” structures that have been created by the radiation pressure from the stars in NGC189.

Mount Sanqing is a renowned Taoist sacred mountain located 25 miles (40 km) north of Yushan County in Jiangxi Province, China with outstanding scenery. Sanqing means the "Three Pure Ones" in Chinese as Mount Sanqing is made up of three main summits: Yujing, Yushui, and Yuhua, representing the Taoist trinity.
Mount Sanqing has been classified as a national park of China. It is a famous honeypot as well as a shelter for animals and plants. It contains more than 2300 species of plants and 400 species of vertebrates. The total area of Mount Sanqing is 229 km². It became a National Geopark in 2005 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2008.[1][2]

- Acorn: the typically ovoid fruit or nut of an oak, enclosed at the base by a cupule.
The acorn, or oak nut, usually contains a single seed (rarely two seeds), enclosed in a tough, leathery shell, and borne in a cup-shaped cupule. Acorns vary from 1–6 cm long and 0.8–4 cm broad. Acorns take between about 6 and 24 months (depending on the species) to mature.
Acorns play an important role in forest ecology when oaks are the dominant species or are plentiful. The volume of the acorn crop may vary wildly, creating great abundance or great stress on the many animals dependent on acorns and the predators of those animals. Acorns, along with other nuts, are termed mast.
Wildlife which eat acorns as an important part of their diets include birds, such as jays, pigeons, some ducks, and several species of woodpeckers. Small mammals that feed on acorns include mice, squirrels and several other rodents.
Large mammals such as pigs, bears, and deer also consume large amounts of acorns; they may constitute up to 25% of the diet of deer in the autumn.
Some animals, such as squirrels and jays serve as seed dispersal agents. Jays and squirrels that scatter-hoard acorns in caches for future use, effectively plant acorns in a variety of locations in which it is possible for them to germinate and thrive.
Even though jays and squirrels retain remarkably large mental maps of cache locations and return to consume them, the odd acorn may be lost, or a jay or squirrel may die before consuming all of its stores. A small number of acorns manage to germinate and survive, producing the next generation of oaks.

De gaaien nemen de eikels mee in hun keel en stoppen ze een eindje verderop onder de grond. Een enkele gaai kan in het najaar zo duizenden eikels verstoppen. Gedurende de winter zoekt de gaai zijn voorraadplekken op. Zelfs in het voorjaar worden jongen nog gevoerd met ontkiemde eikels.

The American bushtit inhabits mixed open woodlands, often containing oaks and a scrubby chaparral understory ; it also inhabits parks and gardens. It is a year-round resident of the western United States and highland parts of Mexico, ranging from Vancouver through the Great Basin and the lowlands and foothills of California to southern Mexico and Guatemala.
The American bushtit is one of the smallest passerines in North America, at 11 cm (4.3 in) in length and 5–6 g (0.18–0.21 oz) in weight. It is gray-brown overall, with a large head, a short neck, a long tail, and a short stubby bill. The male has dark eyes and the adult female, yellow. Coastal forms have a brown "cap" while those in the interior have brown "mask."

Centaurium erythraea (Gentianaceae) 170 21
Centaurium erythraea is a species of flowering plant in the gentian family known by the common names common centaury and European centaury.
It is a widespread plant of Europe (including Scotland, Sweden, and Mediterranean countries) and parts of western Asia and northern Africa.
This is an erect biennial herb that reaches half a meter in height. It grows from a small basal rosette and bolts a leafy, erect stem with many branches.
The erect inflorescences emerge from the stem and grow parallel to it, sometimes tangling with the foliage. Each inflorescence may contain many flowers. The petite flower is pinkish-lavender. It flowers from June until September.

Samstag maritim - Das Container-Feederschiff "EXPERT" im Nord-Ostsee-Kanal - diesmal ablaufend von hinten. Das 141 Meter lange Schiff wurde 2011 in Dienst gestellt und fährt unter der Flagge von Portugal. Aktuell (30.01.2021) läuft das Schiff in der Nordsee und wird bereits heute um 16.00 Uhr in Hamburg erwartet.
Die "Expert" kann 812 TUE-Container laden. Interessant hier die Meldung, dass vor 2 Wochen das Großcontainerschiff "Maersk Essen" (366 Meter) im Pazifik vor Los Angeles in einem schweren Sturm mindestens 750 seiner ca. 13.000 an Bord befindlichen Container verloren hat. Seefahrt ist bei aller Romantik schon ein schweres und oft auch gefährliches Handwerk.

Classicist building designed by Hilary Szpilowski or Stanislaw Zawadzki, built in 1773-1783 by Anastazy Walewski (chamberlain to King Stanislaw August Poniatowski); located on the Mroga River.
The palace is counted among the most interesting examples of classicist country seats in Poland, built at the end of the 18th century. The front faces east. It consists of a one-story rectangular main body and one-story side pavilions, also built on a rectangular plan, connected with the main body by communication galleries broken at right angles. The premise is based on the Palladian style, very popular in Poland in the second half of the 18th and first 19th centuries. From the front, the palace has a massive, four-column Ionic battered portico topped with a triangular pediment (tympanum) with the coat of arms of Pomian, the later owner Stanislaw Grabiński. From the garden there are two prominent extreme (side) risalits. Inside the palace, large representative halls with decorative brick fireplaces and elaborate furnishings were created, as well as spacious palace rooms. In one of the pavilions original painted wallpaper from the 19th century with mythological motifs has been preserved.
On May 4, 1810, the son of Napoleon Bonaparte and Maria Walewska, Alexander Colonna-Walewski, later French ambassador to Great Britain and foreign minister to Napoleon III, was born there. He also became heir to the estate, which he sold to Maria Walewska's brother, Teodor Łączyński, in 1831.
Much of the palace's charm is added by the perfect composition of the building with an extensive landscape park designed by Walerian Kronenberg. Original late Baroque and classicist sandstone sculptures depicting Mars, Venus, and Diana have been preserved there, as well as two hermits and an armed man in ancient costume.
In the mid-19th century, the palace and its estate passed into the hands of the Grabiński family of the Pomian coat of arms. The Grabinskis modernized and rebuilt the palace at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries, established a stud farm for half-breed horses (Anglo-Arabians), developed the breeding of cockerel sheep (the only one in the country), a huge fish farm (on more than 100 hectares of ponds), a factory of potato flour and starch. The last owners of Walewice were papal chamberlain Stanislaw Bohdan Grabiński and his wife Jadwiga, née hr. Potocki, and after his death in 1930 their minor children Stanislaw Wojciech, Maria, Wladyslaw, Róża and Jan Grabiński. The palace still contains some of the furnishings and furniture from the last owners.
During World War II, on the night of September 9-10, 1939, the 17th Regiment of Wielkopolska Uhlans from Gniezno of the Wielkopolska Cavalry Brigade fought battles for the Palace and the village of Walewice during the Battle of the Bzura River.

his smile was full of glee
I said it only fair then
to take his picture too
but I am just a point and shoot

he was happy to oblige
his face was wreathed in smiles

he added to my golden miles
travelling is such fun and bliss
to meet all kinds of folks
life is a bowl of delicious cocktails
all stirred and mixed and sharing jokes
I never even asked his name
and he didn't ask for mine
we were both happy to be in this moment
sharing our love of photographic lines
we felt a kindred spirit and bathed
in a glowing instant friendship made
and just as suddenly as we had bonded
we parted ways and neither stayed
no backward glances
no fond farewells
but through our photographs
the memory dwells.

at last a clear moonless night - the first in about a month - the milky way rises above the ridge line - the sky above on the left glows bright yellow from the light pollution coming from the city of Brisbane - the rest of the sky contains red and to a lesser extent green airglow.
