For the Macro Mondays theme of "Plugs and Jacks" I chose the three phono sockets at one end of a cable that connects our DVD player to the TV. At the other end sits a scart socket.

This is a blend of three exposures. The first exposure is lit from the left hand side by a torch which was covered in a Blue gel. Exposure number two was lit from the right with the torch covered in a Red gel. Finally the third exposure was backlit by the torch covered in a Green gel. I tried a version with the Red and Blue exposures reversed but it looked better with the Blue on the left and this maybe because the cables are Red in colour.

I reduced the shutter speed to 20 seconds for the backlit exposure but the two side lit exposures were both 30 seconds.

The three exposures were imported into Photoshop and then stacked together with the blending modes of the two upper layers set to lighten.

Not perfect but just a little fun.

This image was captured down at Lough Cummeenduff which is located within the Black Valley near the Gap of Dunloe in County Kerry, Ireland.

Image was produced by capturing 6 individual exposures (20 seconds, ƒ/2.8, ISO 3200) with a Canon 6D & a Samyang 14mm ƒ/2.8 lens. These frames were then processed using Adobe Lightroom and then stacked using Starry Landscape Stacker in order to remove unwanted noise and to clean up the overall final image.

When the sun goes down in the summer here, people come outside. This was a beautiful breezy Arizona night.

All four of the GAL-registered Enviro 200 MMCs at Central Connect were repainted into the company’s pleasing, diagonally striped blue livery. Until then they’d been in the red and blue of Central Connect’s previous incarnation down south, before the name was adopted by the wider Vectare/TMS group.

Luckily I spotted all four before they withdrew from operating their East Midlands routes – although if you know where to look it’s still possible to find a Central Connect E200 MMC locally, as they currently still operate one on the 517. I’m not sure if they’re going to rebid for the school routes come next academic year.

Not long ago I did wonder if Central Connect would end up growing to rival the likes of Go Ahead or Arriva in size and national coverage. One day they still might, but so far 2026 has seen them almost disappear from the East Midlands and get into a rather sticky situation in Chelmsford. Plus people don’t seem to rate their operation in East Anglia very highly.

From a personal standpoint, I used the 90 and 93 on several occasions and they were perfectly fine, running reliably and mostly operating to time (the main delays being the incessant A52 road works in Radcliffe, which still go on to this day). However they didn’t seem like routes that could support an operator making payments to buy/lease sub-5 year old Sprinters and E200s.

Here repainted CC21 GAL is pictured on Carrington Street, Nottingham, with a 90 to Newark and Fernwood on 26.7.25

Scotch Pond consists of a large, man-made, rectangular water body, originally a slough, and the remains of wooden boardwalk pilings which run along the south edge of the pond, both situated within Garry Point Park along the tidal flats of Sturgeon Bank in the Steveston area of Richmond.

Character defining elements of Scotch Pond include:

- The remains of the wooden pilings along the south edge of the Pond which originally supported the boardwalk connecting the Scottish Canadian Cannery to Steveston

- The Scotch Pond as it exists today, as a geometrically shaped water body connected to the Gulf of Georgia and including a small, rectangular wooden building and wooden boat docks

- The traditional use of this area for activities related to the fishing industry by the Scotch Pond Heritage Cooperative

- The setting which is comprised of the natural landscape of the Sturgeon Banks tidal flats and Garry Point

Uniquely situated among the tidal flats of Sturgeon Bank at the end of a long boardwalk, the Scottish-Canadian Cannery was built by Malcolm and Windsor in 1899, taking advantage of the slough access to the Gulf of Georgia. Housing for cannery workers was constructed on pilings over the water.

Inside the city, it's easy for residents to connect and work together. Outside in the forgotten zones however, things are very different. There are small groups eking out an existence, separated from each other by disaster and ruin. In order for these folks to get what they need, they need someone to connect them. Someone to find them, and report back to the city to ask for help. They may not directly deliver goods, or shuttle people to distant locations, but the service they do supply is invaluable. Without them, many people would never be able to make it on their own. Despite otherwise being law abiding citizens, the activities of these "Connectors" are highly frowned upon by the establishment of District 18. While they find it easy enough to control a closed population, the outliers pose a potential threat to their authority.

While I built this purely for fun, I'm still planning to enter it in the District 18 Speeder Bike Contest. There are so many great designs being entered, it'll be fun to be part of such a terrific group.
