Main story

There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.

One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.

The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine

quietly.

Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.

I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.

That is the meaning of a rebirth.

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.

After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After

she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies

until I realized it is love?

I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the

daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.

I had been thinking about such a thing.

However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see

something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable

tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

　あらすじ

　大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。

　上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。

　そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。

　大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。

　「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」

　ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。

本編

人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。

　ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。

　もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。

　二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。

　再生だ。

　明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。

　それが再生の意味だ。

　十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

ソフトバンクさんの『安心保証プラスアップルケア』みたいなのに、予約と同時に入らないと後で入ることはできません。

が、

アイフォーン１１プロが届いてから、アップルとの契約で、『アップルケア（盗難紛失保証付）』などへ、　iOSの設定から入れます。

で、ここで何度かチャレンジしたんですけど、まるでできませんでした。

Main story

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.

After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After

she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies

until I realized it is love?

I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the

daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.

I had been thinking about such a thing.

However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see

something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable

tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

　あらすじ

　大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。

　上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。

　そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。

　大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。

　「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」

　ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。

本編

人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。

　ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。

　もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。

　二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。

　再生だ。

『新しい風は、いつも地下から吹いてくる』～　モスインライラックの活動休止に添えて　～

３０年ほど前、空前のバンドブームというのがメディアを席巻した。

ド下手で、リズムすらろくにキープできないようなバンドが、音楽の中身なども関係なくもてはやされ、身ぐるみを剥ぎ取られるようにして消費され尽くした。

まだ２０代前半だった僕にも理解できるド下手バンドが、なぜ評価を得られたのか。技術や楽曲の力ではなく、メディアの空気そのものに煽られ、バンドの名が知れ渡ってゆく。

「所詮音楽とは、ショービジネスさ」

大昔、ソロになったばかりのポールウェラーが或るインタビューでそう話していた。

音楽とは、金の成る木だ。金さえあれば、バンバン広告打って、いくらでも制覇できる。

しかし、それは束の間の出来事で、継続は決してされない。

バンドブームがまさにその良い例で、脳のない、センスのないバンドはやっぱり淘汰されていった。

そんななかで、僕が東京に居た頃に記憶に残っているのは、Xとルナシーだ。

このふたつのバンドは、当時のライブハウスでも名を馳せた。

僕がアルバイトしていたレンタルレコード屋さんにもやはりバンドやってる方がいて、Xといっしょにステージに立ったと熱く語っていた。

自分のバンドとはまるで比較にならないほどの技術、演奏力、表現力で、足元にも及ばなかったようだ。

しかし、彼はそれを自分のことのようにとても楽しく話していた。

ルナシーについてもやはり僕がバイトしていた別のレコード屋さんで、追っかけをしている女の子（すごく可愛い:)）がいて、やはり夢中になってバンドの良さを語っていた。

前者のバンドと後者のバンドの差は、血が通ってるかどうかだと思う。

上っ面だけで体裁よくコマーシャルに形成されたバンドと、小さなハコから叩かれて、のし上がってきたバンド。

どちらが本物かどうかは、僕がここに書くまでもなく、この現時点で結果は出ている。

もちろん、モスインライラックは後者にあたる。

モスインライラックは、この約６年間を走り抜けてきた。

ただ僕が知っているのはこの一ヶ月間程度のことであって、それ以前についてはユーチューブでしか知らない。

途中、メンバーチェンジがあり、現在のメンバーで固めるまで、おそらく大変だったと思う。

僕が今回撮ることになったのは、東京ビッグサイトのデザインフェスタで、マネージャーさんが僕の展示に足を止めたことだ。

マネージャーさんは、開口一番、こう言った。

『構図が違う』

僕の作品を見て、この一言を言うのは、美大生と広告会社関係、ギャラリー関係の方がほとんどで、バンド関係はいっさいなかった。

マネージャーさんは、『うちのバンド、撮っていただけませんか？』と丁寧に話された。

スマフォでモスインライラックのPVを観て、曲を聴き、普通にかっこいいと思った。

実はあまり報告はしていなかったけれども、ときどき、ビッグサイトでゴスロリ系の女子が僕の作品に足を止めてくれていた。

彼女たちはなぜかとても華奢で、色白であり、愛らしい。ぱっと見、被写体としては申し分ないのだけれども、なぜかそれ以上に僕からは踏み込めなかった。

僕はマネージャーさんと別れてから、もう一度、自宅でゆっくりモスインライラックの映像や楽曲などをチェックし直した。

僕のサイトを見てる方はご存知のように、この手のロックはいつも写真のテーマに合わせて採用していない。

僕の写真にはやはり合わない。なので、僕は撮影について辞退しようかとちょっと考え込んだ、ということはいっさいなく、ぜひ、やってみたいと思った。

僕は音楽とは音がすべてだと思っている。

PVなど他の飾りはいっさい要らない。

楽曲を聴いて、ピンとくれば関心を持つし、ピンとこなければまるで無関心。こんな状況で、

モスインライラックの音楽を僕は何度も聴いて1回目の撮影に臨んだ。

CDやストリーミングなどとは異なり、実際のライブはグルーブ感がまるで違う。

バンドのうねりというのは、そう簡単には生み出せない。

白を黒に変色する力。これはそう簡単には表現できない。場数がすべてを支配する。そのぐらい書いても過言ではない。

役人の机上の論理がクソに思えるのはここにある。

日常の退屈を、一瞬で塗り替えることができる。これがバンドの存在意義だ。

退屈でなければ悲惨な事故や事件は減るだろう、僕はずっとこの考えを根底に持っている。

だからこそ、アートは大切なのだ。

だれかの悲しみや痛みを拭い、楽しさや元気に変える。

これが音楽であり、アートだと真剣に思う。

２０１９年１１月１日を持って、モスインライラックは休止する。

けれども、バンドのメンバーがそれぞれの意思を持って、活動し続けるようだ。

僕はこのバンドに関われて、とても光栄でした。

ライブハウス。ハコ。

ここからすべてが始まる。

昔、僕が知ってるミュージシャンがこう話していたことを今でも僕の胸に秘めている。

僕がこのバンドを知ったのは、最後の数ヶ月だけれども、出会えて、ほんとうによかったと思っています。

Main story

There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.

One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.

The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine

quietly.

Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.

I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.

That is the meaning of a rebirth.

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.

After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After

she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies

until I realized it is love?

I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the

daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.

I had been thinking about such a thing.

However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see

something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable

tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

　あらすじ

　大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。

　上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。

　そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。

　大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。

　「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」

　ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。

本編

人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。

　ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。

　もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。

　二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。

　再生だ。

　明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。

　それが再生の意味だ。

　十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

『新しい風は、いつも地下から吹いてくる』～　モスインライラックの活動休止に添えて　～

３０年ほど前、空前のバンドブームというのがメディアを席巻した。

ド下手で、リズムすらろくにキープできないようなバンドが、音楽の中身なども関係なくもてはやされ、身ぐるみを剥ぎ取られるようにして消費され尽くした。

まだ２０代前半だった僕にも理解できるド下手バンドが、なぜ評価を得られたのか。技術や楽曲の力ではなく、メディアの空気そのものに煽られ、バンドの名が知れ渡ってゆく。

「所詮音楽とは、ショービジネスさ」

大昔、ソロになったばかりのポールウェラーが或るインタビューでそう話していた。

音楽とは、金の成る木だ。金さえあれば、バンバン広告打って、いくらでも制覇できる。

しかし、それは束の間の出来事で、継続は決してされない。

バンドブームがまさにその良い例で、脳のない、センスのないバンドはやっぱり淘汰されていった。

そんななかで、僕が東京に居た頃に記憶に残っているのは、Xとルナシーだ。

このふたつのバンドは、当時のライブハウスでも名を馳せた。

僕がアルバイトしていたレンタルレコード屋さんにもやはりバンドやってる方がいて、Xといっしょにステージに立ったと熱く語っていた。

自分のバンドとはまるで比較にならないほどの技術、演奏力、表現力で、足元にも及ばなかったようだ。

しかし、彼はそれを自分のことのようにとても楽しく話していた。

ルナシーについてもやはり僕がバイトしていた別のレコード屋さんで、追っかけをしている女の子（すごく可愛い:)）がいて、やはり夢中になってバンドの良さを語っていた。

前者のバンドと後者のバンドの差は、血が通ってるかどうかだと思う。

上っ面だけで体裁よくコマーシャルに形成されたバンドと、小さなハコから叩かれて、のし上がってきたバンド。

どちらが本物かどうかは、僕がここに書くまでもなく、この現時点で結果は出ている。

もちろん、モスインライラックは後者にあたる。

モスインライラックは、この約６年間を走り抜けてきた。

ただ僕が知っているのはこの一ヶ月間程度のことであって、それ以前についてはユーチューブでしか知らない。

途中、メンバーチェンジがあり、現在のメンバーで固めるまで、おそらく大変だったと思う。

僕が今回撮ることになったのは、東京ビッグサイトのデザインフェスタで、マネージャーさんが僕の展示に足を止めたことだ。

マネージャーさんは、開口一番、こう言った。

『構図が違う』

僕の作品を見て、この一言を言うのは、美大生と広告会社関係、ギャラリー関係の方がほとんどで、バンド関係はいっさいなかった。

マネージャーさんは、『うちのバンド、撮っていただけませんか？』と丁寧に話された。

スマフォでモスインライラックのPVを観て、曲を聴き、普通にかっこいいと思った。

実はあまり報告はしていなかったけれども、ときどき、ビッグサイトでゴスロリ系の女子が僕の作品に足を止めてくれていた。

彼女たちはなぜかとても華奢で、色白であり、愛らしい。ぱっと見、被写体としては申し分ないのだけれども、なぜかそれ以上に僕からは踏み込めなかった。

僕はマネージャーさんと別れてから、もう一度、自宅でゆっくりモスインライラックの映像や楽曲などをチェックし直した。

僕のサイトを見てる方はご存知のように、この手のロックはいつも写真のテーマに合わせて採用していない。

僕の写真にはやはり合わない。なので、僕は撮影について辞退しようかとちょっと考え込んだ、ということはいっさいなく、ぜひ、やってみたいと思った。

僕は音楽とは音がすべてだと思っている。

PVなど他の飾りはいっさい要らない。

楽曲を聴いて、ピンとくれば関心を持つし、ピンとこなければまるで無関心。こんな状況で、

モスインライラックの音楽を僕は何度も聴いて1回目の撮影に臨んだ。

CDやストリーミングなどとは異なり、実際のライブはグルーブ感がまるで違う。

バンドのうねりというのは、そう簡単には生み出せない。

白を黒に変色する力。これはそう簡単には表現できない。場数がすべてを支配する。そのぐらい書いても過言ではない。

役人の机上の論理がクソに思えるのはここにある。

日常の退屈を、一瞬で塗り替えることができる。これがバンドの存在意義だ。

退屈でなければ悲惨な事故や事件は減るだろう、僕はずっとこの考えを根底に持っている。

だからこそ、アートは大切なのだ。

だれかの悲しみや痛みを拭い、楽しさや元気に変える。

これが音楽であり、アートだと真剣に思う。

２０１９年１１月１日を持って、モスインライラックは休止する。

けれども、バンドのメンバーがそれぞれの意思を持って、活動し続けるようだ。

僕はこのバンドに関われて、とても光栄でした。

ここからすべてが始まる。

昔、僕が知ってるミュージシャンがこう話していたことを今でも僕の胸に秘めている。

僕がこのバンドを知ったのは、最後の数ヶ月だけれども、出会えて、ほんとうによかったと思っています。

Main story

There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.

One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.

The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine

quietly.

Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.

I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.

That is the meaning of a rebirth.

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.

After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After

she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies

until I realized it is love?

I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the

daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.

I had been thinking about such a thing.

However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see

something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable

tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

　あらすじ

　大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。

　上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。

　そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。

　大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。

　「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」

　ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。

本編

人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。

　ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。

　もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。

　二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。

　再生だ。

　明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。

　それが再生の意味だ。

　十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

Certainly not the best shot but with his Kodak Brownie 127 Neil captured Gresley A3 4-6-2 60062 Minoru In its final configuration with double chimney and German-style smoke deflectors in Grantham station with a London bound ECML service.

With a bit of a squint it's possible to make out double digits and an F on the smokebox shed plate which would fit with Minoru's shed allocation at 34F Grantham from 16th June 1963.

The Blue Lobster is a small cargo shuttle designed to haul containers to and from larger ships in orbit. It earned its name due to the two large claws that it uses to grip containers, in place of any kind of cargo hold. The design has been a bane to anyone who ever owned or operated one; it's difficult to load and unload, and because both containers are situated in front, it can't take off or land empty. It remains popular nonetheless because the configuration allows for a much smaller ship that great reduces fuel cost.

Imbrium Lunokhod Industries Model VS-M/S-71 'Degei' - The next evolution of the Imbrium Lunokhod Industries Frame System, the Degei takes the lessons learned during the development of the VS-A-GR5K 'Krivlyaka' and applies the well loved stylings that made the VS-MX-04 'Rangi' and the VS-M/A-Z9A 'Muku' such a success. The Degei is a versatile assault frame perfect for space-based interdiction and other zero-g tactical operations.

From a design perspective, the frame fits perfectly into the 7P scale and aligns with the desired aesthetic. Unfortunately, the thigh joints that worked so well on the Krivlyaka were very fragile when paired with a stiff ankle joint. Additionally, the design of the shoulder joint didn’t add enough range of motion to justify the parts usage. Finally, the hip/waist connection was too loose, even with a friction pin which made it difficult to find stable footing.

If I was going to revise this build, I think I would start with the ankles. A looser and more scale-conventional joint (using a pneuma-T or tap) would probably work better in the long run.

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.

After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After

she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies

until I realized it is love?

I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the

daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.

I had been thinking about such a thing.

However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see

something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable

tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

　あらすじ

　大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。

　上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。

　そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。

　大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。

　「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」

　ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。

本編

人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。

　ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。

　もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。

　二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。

　再生だ。

　明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。

　それが再生の意味だ。

ソフトバンクさんの『安心保証プラスアップルケア』みたいなのに、予約と同時に入らないと後で入ることはできません。

が、

アイフォーン１１プロが届いてから、アップルとの契約で、『アップルケア（盗難紛失保証付）』などへ、　iOSの設定から入れます。

で、ここで何度かチャレンジしたんですけど、まるでできませんでした。

Nebulon-B Escort Frigate Sentinel (Imperial Configuration) by Ryan Olsen

My entry for the Assemble the Fleet Competition. This version of the Nebulon-B Escort Frigate is inspired by EC Henry’s design as seen on his YouTube Channel.

Length: 32 studs

Backstory:

The Nebulon-B Escort Frigate Sentinel was originally built for the Galactic Empire by Kuat Drive Yards prior to the outbreak of the Galactic Civil War. The Sentinel was deployed for system patrol duty and avoided being mothballed and scavenged for parts by KDY technicians for their ongoing construction of Imperial Star Destroyers. Unlike its contemporaries who were liberated and saw service with the Rebel Alliance, the Sentinel retained its original Imperial configuration.

With the collapse of the Empire, the ship was utilized by the Remidian System Defense Force for anti-pirate operations during the years of the New Republic. It was one of the many ships to answer the call for help from Lando Calrissian and Chewbacca aboard the Millennium Falcon. While outdated, the Sentinel still had functional turbo-laser emplacements, military-grade shield generators, and a reduced complement of obsolete TIE/LN starfighters aboard and made a welcome addition to the fleet that opposed the resurrected Emperor Palpatine’s Sith Eternal fleet above the planet Exegol in the Unknown Regions.

Main story

There are two reasons why a person faces the sea.

One, to enjoy a slice of shine in the sea like children bubbling over in the beach.

The other, to brush the dust of memory like an old man who misses old days, staring at the shine

quietly.

Those lead to only one meaning though they do not seem to overlap. It’s a rebirth.

I face myself to change tomorrow, a vague day into something certain.

That is the meaning of a rebirth.

I had a very sweet girlfriend when I was 18.

After she left, I knew the meaning of gentleness for the first time and also a true pain of loss. After

she left, how many times did I depend too much on her, doubt her, envy her and keep on telling lies

until I realized it is love?

I wonder whether a nobody like me could have given something to her who was struggling in the

daily life in those days. Giving something is arrogant conceit. It is nothing but self-satisfaction.

I had been thinking about such a thing.

However, I guess what she saw in me was because I had nothing. That‘s why she tried to see

something in me. Perhaps she found a slight possibility in me, a guy filled with ambiguous, unstable

tomorrow. But I wasted days depending too much on her gentleness.

Now I finally can convey how I felt in those days when we met.

　あらすじ

　大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。

　上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。

　そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。

　大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。

　「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」

　ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。

本編

人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。

　ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。

　もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。

　二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。

　再生だ。

　明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。

　それが再生の意味だ。

　十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

CR510 Pennsylvania Truss Bridge

Marquette County

Background:

This is one of the largest, most beautiful, and most significant truss spans in Michigan. Not only does this truss bridge display the Pennsylvania truss configuration, it appears that it may have actually come from the state of Pennsylvania. In 1919, the Michigan State Highway Department purchased the bridge which originally crossed the Allegheny River. Relocating and reusing truss bridges was not unusual in this period of history. An example notice indicating bridges for sale from 1921 is shown to the right. At this time, CR-510 was a state trunk line route and purchasing and relocating this bridge would have been an inexpensive alternative to building a new bridge from scratch. It was erected on the CR-510 location in 1921. The Michigan State Highway Department's Biennial Report stated that the bridge was one of two toll bridges crossing the Allegheny River within 500 feet of each other and was being removed due to the redundancy. Unfortunately, the report did not state exactly where on the river this bridge came from. Since most of the Allegheny River is in Pennsylvania, it is assumed the bridge came from Pennsylvania, although the Allegheny River does dip into New York State for a short time. Depending on where on the Allegheny River it was originally located, it may have been part of a multi-span bridge.

Pennsylvania truss bridges are an uncommon truss type, and the nature of their design means that they are reserved for longer truss spans. However, even among pin-connected highway Pennsylvania truss spans, this bridge's span still stands out as fairly long. It is the longest pin-connected highway truss span in Michigan. The truss type is extremely rare in Michigan, and so the bridge has additional significance in the context of Michigan. The bridge also retains excellent historic integrity with minimal alterations despite its long service and being located in two different states over its service life. The bridge has decorative details on its portal bracing, another feature that is rare among Michigan truss bridges.

In 2010, this bridge was replaced by a new high level bridge on new alignment a short distance west of the historic bridge. Fortunately, Marquette County did not demolish the historic bridge. Instead, the bridge was left standing for its historic value and remains open to pedestrians. The county even did substantial work to create a walkway that approaches the bridge on a more even grade. No work was done on the historic bridge, however the bridge is not in severe condition. At the same time it is worth noting that the paint system is failing and rust and section loss have been developing in the typical trouble spots like the bottom chord. However, now that the bridge is away from vehicular traffic and corrosive deicing salts the rate of deterioration should greatly slow. A long term goal worth considering would be to plan for a project to repair and repaint the bridge. However, in the meantime, the bridge is safe from both demolition and deterioration from vehicular traffic.

It should be worth noting that other states like Pennsylvania have refused to leave historic bridges standing when they are replaced by a bridge on new alignment. One of the reasons cited is liability. Firstly, these concerns about liability are unfounded since no proof has ever existed that a substantial number of historic bridge related lawsuits have ever occurred. Furthermore, Marquette County has demonstrated how easy it is to reduce or eliminate liability. Signs are posted at the walkway leading to the bridge that read "MCRC Property Enter At Own Risk." While these signs do not prohibit people from visiting and enjoying the bridge, they also indicate that MCRC is not responsible for any injury occurring at the bridge site.

Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor, Mount Tibidabo, Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain

This is another Church and Basilica in Barcelona but this time is situated on top of a hill over looking Barcelona called Mount Tibidabo. Not as impressive as the Sagrada Familia that I uploaded on Friday but it is alot smaller and amazing in its own way, after all this took 60 years to build too. I think it took so long due to the fact I suppose that the builders would have had to get all the building materials up by railway (I presume) which is now the Funicular railway which takes you up the hill to get to this church. This image is of the Temple located in the Basilica which is located underneath the main church hall itself. A massive vaulted ceiling with light just pouring in the top as you can see. This church was fairly quiet so great for photography and you can get quiet a bit of time to compose your images, well worth a visit.

I really can't expressive how good the people in Barcelona are to us photographers. They leave you to get on with it without pestering you which sadly goes on alot in my local capital of London.

On a separate note, I have been on a photowalk over the weekend up to Yorkshire. I visited the Ribblehead viaduct and a few other places up there. Will try and get the images edited but I just want to do my Barcelona images first but you never know might pop one upload soon. Also during my photo walk I seemed to picked up an annoying dust spot on my lens that will not shift even though I have not taken the lens off since Barcelona, how does that happen? Its one of life's mysteries, I am now going to have to get my sensor cleaned. Your probably thinking just for one spot? Yeah but things like this really annoy me and I'll have to get it sorted :-), wish me luck!

The Temple Expiatori del Sagrat Cor (Catalan pronunciation: [səˈɣɾat ˈkɔr]; English: Expiatory Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, Spanish: Templo Expiatorio del Sagrado Corazón de Jesús) is a Roman Catholic church and minor basilica located on the summit of Mount Tibidabo in Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain. The building is the work of the Spanish Catalan architect Enric Sagnier and was completed by his son Josep Maria Sagnier i Vidal. The construction of the church, dedicated to the Sacred Heart of Jesus, lasted from 1902 to 1961.

The image above shows the different configurations of the Raven deisgn.

Starting from below we have the basic ADF-11F Raven with the main airframe and the ADF-11 drone/pilot cabin mounted on the nose.

In case the main Raven is heavily damaged, the much smaller ADF-11 (above) will detach from the Raven main airframe known as RAW-F (middle) and then proceed to fight. The smaller ADF-11 will then extend it´s forward swept wings making it far faster and agile.

About the model:

This is a very large (more than 60cm long) and complex plane (I´m not really used to make very large designs) which made photography extremely difficult for me since I don´t have enough room to take adequate photos of it.

However, it has many interesting features like the detachable drone on the nose (already presented previously), all control surfaces are movable, the ventral fin can be extended or retracted and it features a fully retractable landing gear as well as the two side mounted missile bays.

A Tale of Two Geese: RGS Motor #5 by Kevin Madore

Here's an early morning shot of RGS Motor #5, showing the current configuration of this "Galloping Goose" as she heads east on the Cumbres & Toltec Scenic Railroad, just past Juke's Tree at Milepost 343.5. The #5 is one of three RGS geese (#s 3,4 and 5) which had their Pierce-Arrow bodies and engines replaced with Wayne Bus bodies and war-surplus GMC engines in 1946. The Wayne body, while not quite as stylish, is roomier and more like a rail-bus. This particular unit is owned by the City of Dolores, Colorado and operated by the Galloping Goose Historical Society of Dolores.

In the early days, the RGS geese were designed to carry their passengers in the forward car/bus body section, with freight and mail being carried in a windowless rear, boxcar body. Toward the end of the line's existence, around 1950, when the railroad had lost its mail contract, four of these units (#s 3,4,5 and 7) had the boxcar section reconfigured to carry passengers, by cutting in long side windows and adding bus-type seats. For the last couple of years of the line's existence, these 4 geese were used for tourist sight-seeing operations, and all 4 of these units retain that configuration today.

Discovered this car sitting all alone out in the Carillon Park parking lot after leaving the Dayton Concours d'Elegance. Since the Concours was a "bust", at least I had the opportunity of taking as many pictures and views of this little beauty as I wanted. It appeared that this car was being driven daily (depending on the weather conditions, of course.)

The Cord L-29 was revolutionary, using a front-wheel drive system rather than the popular rear-wheel drive configuration. Many believed that having the front wheels be responsible for turning, carrying the bulk of the weight, providing stopping power and for driving were too much. With the rear wheel drive systems, the weight could be dispersed throughout the body to take advantage of weight distributed. Cord wanted to be different and explore the possibilities of a front-wheel configuration. Many people believe Cord used the front-wheel drive configuration because he wanted to exploit the advantages of a low-profile design. Rear-wheel-drive cars sat higher above their driveshafts because the engineers had not figured out how to let the shaft run through the passenger compartment. It should also be noted the two large driving lights were mechanically linked to the steering, articulated to move 'slightly' in the direction in which the front wheels were steered.

Errett Lobban Cord was a visionary, promoter, young and intelligent individual when in 1924 he joined the Auburn Automobile Company which was under performing in respects to sales. Cord was able to revitalize sales and by 1926 he was in control of the company. He then began buying up companies such as Duesenberg Motor Company and Lycoming and brought them under the Cord Corporation.

With control of Duesenberg and Auburn automobiles, the Cord Corporation was positioned for success. What the company lacked was an automobile that could fill the price gap that existed between these two nameplates. The result was a luxury car named after himself, the Cord L-29.

Cornelius Van Ranst was tasked as the chief engineer for this unique automobile. John Oswald, a man responsible for many of the Auburn designs, contributed to the L-29. The result was dramatic styling that was attractive and elegant.

Under the hood lurked an 299 cubic-inch eight-cylinder Lycoming engine. The 125 horsepower engine could carry the 4600 pound vehicle to a top speed of just 77 mph, a respectable speed but not the fastest vehicle available.

Since it was a front-wheel drive system, the normal mechanical configuration needed rearrangement. The transmission and differential were in the front, ahead of the engine. The hood was very long, a result of having so many mechanical components in the front. The rear suspension used leaf springs and a beam axle while the front used a deDion type solid axle with quarter elliptic leaf springs.

Two months after the introduction of the Cord L-29 the stock market crashed and the Great Depression began. Just like many other manufacturers during this time, sales plummeted and production was low. To compete, Cord dropped prices in 1930 in an attempt to stimulate sales. For 1931 a large engine producing just over 130 horsepower was installed under the hood. Unfortunately, this was not enough and production ceased at the close of 1931.

During its production run lasting from 1929 through 1931, fewer than 5,000 total examples were created. In 1930 only 1,873 united were produced. Although production was halted in 1931, there were 157 L-29's dubbed as 1932 models.

　あらすじ

　大学を目指している北見ケイは、SNS上で、6歳年上のイベントコンパニオン、上村香織に出会う。

　上京してきた香織の夢は、有名なアーティストの友達になるためだ。

　そのためにはラジオ局のプロデューサー、大沢亮の存在が必要だった。

　大沢は、ラジオの生放送中、香織へ語りかける。

　「僕には妻子がある。しかし、僕は君に会いたいと思っている」

　ケイの同級生で、彼を想っている三條里香は、香織の動向を探っていた。。。。。

本編

人が海へ向かう理由には、二つある。

　ひとつは、波打ち際ではしゃぐ子供のように、今の瞬間の海の輝きを楽しむこと。

　もうひとつは、その輝きを静かに見据えて、過ぎ去った日々を懐かしむ老人のように記憶の埃を払うこと。

　二つは重なり合わないようではあるけれども、たったひとつの意味しか生まない。

　再生だ。

　明日っていう、曖昧な日を確実なものへと変えてゆくために、自分の存在に向き合う。

　それが再生の意味だ。

　十八歳だった僕には大切な人がいた。

１　それまでの写真展。自分は行きたいと思ったか？

３　原宿デザインフェスタで個展を開くまでに、毎月ひとつの作品を展示することにチャレンジ。
