Il effectue via un rĂ©seau de sentiers pĂ©destres flottants un parcours qui le conduit de lieux de domestication en espaces retournĂ©s Ă lâĂ©tat sauvage. Il dĂ©couvre en chemin des espĂšces animales qui tiennent un rĂŽle essentiel dans lâĆuvre du plasticien et lâinspirent. Des couples dâanimaux sont rassemblĂ©s dans trois enclos dâun hectare environ. Les animaux incarnent la diversitĂ© propre Ă notre planĂšte. Ils constituent avec les plantes, les champignons et autres organismes vivants un nouvel Ă©cosystĂšme.
The Cosmopolitan Culture Park is the most important part of LABIOMISTA. The visitor becomes familiar with the central elements in the work of Koen Vanmechelen: nature, animals and art. Through a network of floating footpaths, he follows a route that leads him from places of domestication to spaces returned to the wild state. Along the way, he discovers animal species that play an essential role in the work of the visual artist and inspire him. Couples of animals are gathered in three enclosures of about one hectare. Animals embody the diversity of our planet. Together with plants, fungi and other living organisms, they form a new ecosystem.

Il a Ă©tĂ© surpris, car les pĂ©tunias ne sont pas naturellement de couleur orange, et il a pris quelques tiges pour les tester dans son laboratoire. Cette rencontre fortuite a Ă©tĂ© le point de dĂ©part dâune affaire qui a Ă©tĂ© appelĂ©e plus tard la « crise du pĂ©tunia » et qui a finalement conduit Ă la destruction de toutes les variĂ©tĂ©s de pĂ©tunias orange dans le monde entier.
Le livre « The Petunia Carnage » est basĂ© sur lâhistoire vraie des pĂ©tunias orange et suit les consĂ©quences de la dĂ©couverte de Teemu Teeri, lorsque les tests ADN ont rĂ©vĂ©lĂ© que les pĂ©tunias orange Ă©taient transgĂ©niques. Leaving Helsinki train station in May 2015, botanist Teemu Teeri noticed bright orange petunias in a planter. He was surprised, because petunias are not naturally orange in color, and he took a few stems to test in his laboratory. This chance encounter was the starting point of an affair that was later called the âpetunia crisisâ and which ultimately led to the destruction of all varieties of orange petunias worldwide.
The book "The Petunia Carnage" is based on the true story of orange petunias and follows the aftermath of Teemu Teeri's discovery, when DNA testing revealed that orange petunias were transgenic. The book looks back at the origins of orange petunias during a controversial experiment carried out in the 1990s at the Max Planck Institute in Cologne, then at their mysterious âescape from the laboratoryâ. Finally, he explains why orange petunias were deemed "illegal" after being bred and sold without permits for over 25 years, leading to their mass destruction worldwide in 2017.
The story of orange petunias is more than a scientific anecdote â it's a parable of what can happen when scientific interest, commercial marketing logic, sociopolitical values, public discourse and unexpected coincidences collide .

After shooting W&LE at Dunkirk, we heard CSX 1875 coming south, so we decided to divert our attention from train 430 briefly.
One of the recent heritage locomotives released by CSX is to honor the Pittsburgh & Lake Erie. Merged out of existence in 1992, the P&LE was a conduit to the many steel mills in and around the Pittsburgh area. This day, the P&LE heritage locomotive is leading a local south towards Dunkirk and Columbus, Ohio.
Skipton Castle is one of the most complete and well preserved medieval castles in England, first built in 1090 by Robert de Romille, a Norman baron. Most of the castle as seen today dates from the early 14th Century, with modifications in the early 15th and mid 17th Centuries.
The irregular and picturesque Conduit Court dates from the early 16th Century. The yew tree in the centre of the courtyard was planted in 1659.
Petra (Arabic: ۧÙŰšŰȘ۱ۧۥ, Al-BatrÄÊŸ; Ancient Greek: Î ÎÏÏα), originally known as Raqmu (Nabataean Arabic: ۧÙ۱ÙÙÙ ), is a historical and archaeological city in southern Jordan. Petra lies on the slope of Jabal Al-Madbah in a basin among the mountains which form the eastern flank of Arabah valley that run from the Dead Sea to the Gulf of Aqaba. Established possibly as early as the 4th century BC as the capital city of the Nabataean Kingdom. The Nabataeans were nomadic Arabs who invested in Petra's proximity to the trade routes by establishing it as a major regional trading hub.
The trading business gained the Nabataeans considerable revenue, and Petra became the focus of their wealth. The earliest recorded historical reference to the city was when an envious Greek dynasty attempted to ransack the city in 312 BC. The Nabataeans were, unlike their enemies, accustomed to living in the barren deserts, and were able to repel attacks by utilizing the area's mountainous terrain. They were particularly skillful in harvesting rainwater, agriculture and stone carving. The Kingdom's capital continued to flourish until the 1st century AD when its famous Al-Khazneh facade was constructed, and its population peaked at an estimated 20,000 inhabitants.
Encroaching troops of the Roman Empire in 106 AD forced the Nabataeans to surrender. The Romans annexed and renamed the Kingdom to Arabia Petraea. Petra's importance declined as sea trade routes emerged, and after a 363 earthquake destroyed many structures. The Byzantine Era witnessed the construction of several Christian churches. By 700, the city became an abandoned place where only a handful of nomads grazed goats. It remained an unknown place until it was rediscovered by Swiss explorer Johann Ludwig Burckhardt in 1812, sparking renewed interest in the city.
The city is famous for its rock-cut architecture and water conduit system. Another name for Petra is the Rose City due to the color of the stone out of which it is carved. It is a symbol of Jordan, as well as Jordan's most-visited tourist attraction.
It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1985. UNESCO has described it as "one of the most precious cultural properties of man's cultural heritage".

I took a Night Photography class sponsored by Desert Botanical Garden and taught by Ryan Parra - a photography professor at Mesa Community College and Arizona State University. I learned a lot and practiced a lot. I really feel that I had improved significantly by the end of the class. One big problem with classes like this is keeping other photographers out of the frame.
This HYBYCOZO sculpture is titled Pyrite Field. It greets visitors in the Ottosen Entry Garden. Any correction will be appreciated.

HYBYCOZO is the collaborative studio of artists Serge Beaulieu and Yelena Filipchuk. Based in Los Angeles, their work consists of larger than life geometric sculptures, often with pattern and texture that draw on inspirations from mathematics, science, and natural phenomena. Typically illuminated, the work celebrates the inherent beauty of form and pattern and represents their ongoing journey in exploring the myriad dimensions of geometry. HYBYCOZO is short for the Hyperspace Bypass Construction Zone, a nod to their favorite novel (The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy) and was the title of their first installation in 2014. They continue to create under this name. In the novel earth was being destroyed to make way for a bypass. It lead Serge and Yelena to ask what it means to make art at a time where the earthâs hospitable time in the universe may be limited.

Q: Walk us through your creative process?
A: The focus of our creative process is to explore the intricate interplay between geometry, light, space and to inspire contemplation, wonder and a sense of place among our audiences. Geometry and pattern-making serve as the backbone of our creative expression. It is the framework through which we navigate the complexities of form, proportion and spatial relationships. Patterns, both simple and complex, have a profound impact on our perception and understanding of the world. They possess the ability to evoke a sense of order, balance and aesthetic pleasure. Pattern making and geometry offer us a means of storytelling and communication. These patterns serve as conduits for deeper exploration, provoking introspection and contemplation to uncover the underlying symbols embedded within the human psyche.
Q: What inspired the concept of LIGHT BLOOM?
A: Just as many cactus and desert plants have evolved to produce night-blooming flowers, adapting to their environment and thriving in darkness, our sculptures come alive after sunset, blossoming with light and transforming the night into a glowing landscape of art and geometry.
Desert Botanical Garden has an incredible collection of plants and cacti arranged in a beautiful park setting.

Ruines du Moulin du Saut situé dans la vallée de L'Alzou dans le Lot (46) .
Le moulin est construit en pierre de taille sur le cours de l'Alzou, dans un lieu particuliÚrement isolé. Il s'appuie sur la paroi rocheuse qui le surplombe et qui constitue son quatriÚme mur. Au printemps les eaux de l'Alzou, pratiquement à sec en été, se gonflent pour former une cascade d'une dizaine de mÚtres de hauteur en contrebas du moulin.
En 1577, le moulin est en ruine. Il est reconstruit entre 1736 et 1739 pour 40 000 livres (une fortune pour l'époque) par Antoine Raymond de Fouilhac, baron de Gramat.
Passé aprÚs la révolution entre plusieurs propriétaires privés successifs, il a fonctionné jusqu'à la premiÚre guerre mondiale, pendant laquelle le meunier fut mobilisé.
Il est acheté, en 1924, par un industriel de Périgueux qui le transforme en usine de production d'électricité d'un rendement modeste. En 1925, un incendie le ruine totalement.
Il est aujourd'hui propriĂ©tĂ© de la ville de Gramat qui l'a confiĂ©, par bail emphytĂ©otique, Ă l'Association des Amis du moulin du Saut et de la vallĂ©e de l'Alzou qui en assure l'entretien et la sauvegarde. Des interprĂ©tations maladroites et l'absence de maĂźtrise dâĆuvre qualifiĂ©e ont malheureusement conduit Ă la dĂ©naturation partielle des annexes du moulin (granges : Ă©tables).
Le moulin a fait l'objet de travaux de con-fortement et de mise en sécurité dans le cadre de la politique Espace naturel sensible conduite par le Département du Lot qui a aussi pour objet de gérer et préserver les habitats naturels remarquables qui entourent le site.

En fait plusieurs compositions ont été engagées, notamment sur les réseaux à voie large en Europe de l'est et en péninsule ibérique.
Les six voitures de la rame d'Europe centrale sont fournies par les CFF (voiture panoramique), la DB, les FS, les MĂV-START, les ĂBB et la SNCF.
Les jours oĂč ce train promotionnel Ă©tait en Suisse les CFF ont supprimĂ© de nombreux trains par manque de personnel de conduite, notamment en rĂ©gion lĂ©manique.
Ils ont tenté dans un communiqué de presse d'expliquer cette carence par un défaut de planification.
Lorsque que l'on voit de nombreux anciens conducteurs particuliÚrement démotivés et des jeunes pressés de repartir à peine arrivés, c'est plutÎt dans l'aménagement du travail que les managers devraient chercher les problÚmes. Malheureusement et contrairement à la SNCF, dans le management, le mot impossible fait partie du vocabulaire.

In an attempt to cause some disruption this protester decided to stop all traffic where Conduit St crosses New Bond St. For about 5 minutes he was successful until a group of people, including a guy in a wheelchair, tried to talk them out of it. I couldn't hear what they were saying, but it ended with the guy in the picture getting into a fight with the guy in the wheelchair.
Unluckily for him 4 police vans arrived at this time and a group of 8 police officers waded in and sorted it out if a rather robust way...
The upper reaches of Walbottle Dene: steep slopes and overgrown - who knows where these portals may lead to? There are certainly some of the oldest trees in the Dene, here.
