Winter driving conditions on the Predil pass. This is the Italian side of the pass, you can tell that by the fact that the snow plough has only made enough room for one car. Having to reverse 3 miles up a twisty mountain road just isn't fun!

Our cleanups are part of an ongoing effort clean the entire stream by 2014 in preparation for the War of 1812 Bicentennial Celebration. (Bread and Cheese Creek has been noted as one of the possible highlighted location on the Star-Spangled Banner National Historic Trail) The creek played a rather significant part in the Battle of North Point which took place on September 12, 1814. Both the American and British Troops camped along its banks. It is rumored that the young heroes Daniel Wells (19) and Henry McComas (18) used the stream channel to sneak up on British General Robert Ross killing him with their muskets before being killed in return fire. This important part of our history should not be left the eyesore it currently is.
Remember, there plenty of ways for volunteers to participate. We will need every type of person of every ability level to contribute and assist with the Clean Up. Though it is true we will need people to dig out shopping carts and haul trash to the dumpsters, we can use people to run water, food, tools, and trash bags (both empty and full) to individuals in the creek. People to sort recyclables from the debris removed. People will be needed to work the grills as well as many other less strenuous activities. We are also authorized to sign-off on Community Service and Service Learning Hours for students. The more people we have, the easier the work will be for everyone. Please feel free to pass this information on to other who might be interesting in helping as well. As my grandfather always said, “Many hands makes the work light”. We run our cleanups as a family event with all age groups welcome by developing plenty of ways for volunteers to participate.

Enabling conditions – monitoring Plenary Session 4.
Objectives
• Show that different monitoring systems are vital to implementing results-based mechanisms;
• Promote integration between monitoring mechanisms to avoid duplication of efforts.
The Ministry of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), is hosting the Sixth edition of the Mediterranean Forest Week (VIth MWF) at the Grand Hills Hotel, Broumana, on 1–5 April 2019. The weeklong event brings together policy and decision makers, forest administrators, researchers, practitioners, donors, civil society organizations, and social and environmental based non–governmental organizations to share and promote the use of forest–based solutions to assist Mediterranean countries in the implementation of their Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement.

Conditions were a bit difficult tonight, but I came away with a decent shot. Each night I learn a little bit more about how to capture the frames that make up the mosaic, and how to process them to bring out the contrast and detail. I've had a good run of late, with four clear nights in the last week. I love watching the terminator creep across the face of the moon, revealing new details each night.
This is a mosaic of four frames made using the Meade LPI camera.

Fabulous conditions again on Monday 8 December. The natural snow has packed down to an amazing 95cm at the bottom, 1m50 at the top of Solaise, and nobody knows what depth on the glaciers. This racer is standing on a pile of artificial snow so high it would have a name in Wales, Llanthairboyoandyoullgetflattenedisit. Like we need more snow! The day started with -14º in the village, but only -2º at the top of the Grande Motte. Yet more snow is forecast from Wednesday. If you're the person praying for it, thanks, but we're OK for the next few months...
I normally have unusual shooting conditions whenever I fly into LAX. This time it was really wild - Santa Ana winds at a steady 30 mph winds, gusting to 60 mph, reverse operations (always pretty cool), massive wildfires putting up so much smoke (horrible know it was peoples' homes on fire), and VIP aircraft in the area. Simply wow.
I was at Clutter's Park for a few hours and really bundled up. All the signposts and the flagpole were really shaking - we expected them to fly off at any moment. Camera tripods were shaking and almost tipping over. The weird thing was this was an unforgettable day, if you didn't think of the tragedies happening all around LA.
Conditions were perfect for Carlisle Parkruns 11th race this year, and a record number of 145 people ,prams and dogs who took part.
Lots set off well wrapped up but it soon became apparent that a layer strip off was required as hats, gloves and coats were discarded to friends and family along the course.
Lots of PB.s all around today.
I personally got a PB of 21.37 and my boy also at 23.08 soon he will be overtaking me...
The Cafe in the manor was closed today but plenty of people brought in cake and hot drinks.
