Waren (Müritz) (also Waren an der Müritz) is a town and climatic spa in the state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, Germany.
Waren lies on Lake Müritz, the largest inland lake lying entirely within Germany, which has an area of 117 square kilometres (45 square miles).
If feeding conditions is good the capacious throat sac is used to engulf whole shoals of fish. This large waterbird is often found swimming in flocks in shallow lowland lakes and river deltas. Native to south-east Europe.
DELIGHTFUL PLUMP-BODIED WADER, not often seen, and taken in very dark conditions, the best of a bad bunch, but just enjoy catching up with this pair every-year at the sea side defense wall, from Jan to about April. Seen a Hampton near Herne Bay, Kent, U.K.
Lake Nahuel Huapi is immersed within the Nahuel Huapi National Park, which is the oldest of the Argentine national parks.
It was created by the Argentine government in 1934, on the base of the donation of 3 square leagues (7,000 ha) carried out by Francisco Pascasio Moreno for this purpose.
The park covers 717,261 ha, in a strip of about 60 km wide for about 170 km from north to south, lying on the Andes mountain range. The Nahuel Huapi National Park is internationally famous for its attractive photography. It is located between the altitudes of 700 masl and 3400 masl, it stands out for its representative ecosystems of the Patagonian Andes, inhabiting more than a thousand higher botanical species, and some 300 species of vertebrate animals.
Getting to know Victoria Island and witnessing the spectacle of the Bosque de Arrayanes is a pleasure that has been experienced by millions of visitors to this National Park but still awaits, with its intact navigation conditions, the next tourists who, like us, arrive to visit them.
During the last week of high winds and rain I gave myself a challenge to get out and shoot something where conditions aren't ideal!
I ended up at Bodiam Castle in East Sussex, wind swept, poor light and wet, all i can say is my aim was moody!!!
Bodiam Castle is a 14th-century moated castle near Robertsbridge in East Sussex, England. It was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III, with the permission of Richard II, ostensibly to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years' War.
When conditions are sufficient things manifest. When conditions are no longer sufficient things withdraw. They wait until the moment is right for them to manifest again.

We've been told it's going to snow this weekend, but this magnolia tree is getting ready for spring with its fuzzy buds.
I keep saying it but the conditions we were presented with were more than we could ever have hoped for.
There is another vantage point just off to the right that provides a similar composition but includes Loughrigg Tarn. Personally I think it's the better comp but another tog was already there and whilst there were several people up by the trig point, the four of us that were in this area kept to ourselves for the first hour or so. I think we were all a little blown away and just wanted to get our shots and savour the spectacle in front of us. I did have a quick chat with one of them who kindly let me stand behind his tripod and take a wider selfie shot that I posted last week.
We all ended up back at the convergence of the many paths that weave their way around the undulations, lumps and bumps of Loughrigg and had a chat about what we had just witnessed when the mist and best of the conditions had passed. I could've stayed up here for another couple more hours but had a pressing engagement with a Full English breakfast and a mug of Yorkshire's finest.
Probably my favourite shot from the morning.
These conditions were more than I could have asked for. The drive up was terrible and muddy and my truck still has mud stuck in places 3 weeks later. In the end it was all worth it for this shoot, and this one is just the beginning!!!! Vlog this weekend!! Kris.. Vlog below…
The winter and the cold wave came to Switzerland.
With this picture I did not make it easy for me. At first I really could not decide which photo to put on flickr. I wrestled with myself, because I would like to present the most beautiful photo for my friends here. Secondly, the picture was made under very difficult external conditions, because it was really "bitterly cold". I could barely touch my hands after photographing and yet I wanted to get a nice photo of these beautiful ice crystals. I succeeded, more or less, because the background was not ideal for that. In addition, my faithful friend Roco had to wait for me and there I no longer want to start one try after another. This time I did not want to make any compromises with the warm colors of the picture, because the cold should be very touchable. I believe this has succeeded with this picture. I am fascinated by this "little work of art". Each little detail is a miracle of creation, because it was shaped by the elements of nature and radiates its brilliance as long as this nature allows.
I am grateful for these little things without which life would not be so beautiful and interesting.
Rejoice over the elements of nature.
Erwin
I thank you all for the interest and enthusiasm for my work here. I am happy about every comment from you and every time you like my pictures. Thank you very much for all the favorites and for watching my photos.
Small supplement of today:
The winter has caught up with me too, for I am terribly cold. Nevertheless, or just because of this, I am looking forward to every single word from you. Also, I always see in the little things, which makes the importance and beauty of life. Wish all of you a blessed time, without illness and with much love and joy. Hope you can all be in a nice warm place, because outside it is extremely cold here. Brrrrrr .....
....first there was darkness till i created the night, first there was darkness and darkness was right. darkness is moving into the light...

Taken in dull conditions. A single frame handheld with no added light (except in pp). This female is sat on a dandelion seed head.
Weather conditions were more favorable for photographing these fidgety warblers today, and this young chestnut-sided warbler even stopped for a second to stretch out! Key ID features here are the bright white eye ring and greenish-gold cap on its head.
These are among my favourite birds, inquisitive, interesting and so expressive, they are such a joy to photograph and watch in the north! Only the smartest birds can survive in such conditions, and the Canada Jay is certainly among the most intelligent.

The weeks go by faster and faster, but I must admit being tempted by some rather special weather conditions that we had for the month of February. Rain, snow and sleet that day, February 10, didn't seem to bother the birds or affect their appetites. So I took a break and took the time to take some pictures.
Here this beautiful male Pine Grosbeak who is soaked by the rain and who is now under a torrent of sleet. Very gray weather and poor light...
A Flickr friend posted a wonderful image of this boathouse in snowy conditions recently and it reminded me I hadn't looked at mine yet.
I had a look at them last night and quite like this one.
The weather conditions in Churchill were the most extreme conditions I have ever photographed in. On this day it was -2 degrees Fahrenheit which is -18 Celsius. Add to that a wind chill of minus 30. I even got an icicle on my eye lid -haha! I wouldn't have traded this experience though and the amazing sightings we had with this polar bear family :-).
Weather conditions improved in the late afternoon. This is a northwestward view from a hill that used to be the site for Chichijima's weather station.
The island in the left is Nishijima (西島, western island), while those in the right are Hyoutanjima (瓢箪島 gourd island), Anijima (兄島 older brother island), and Hitomarujima (人丸島).
According the climate data provided by Japan Meteorological Agency, average temperature of the coldest month in Chichijima is 18.5 degree Celsius, which means Chichijima has a tropical climate.
Annual precipitation of Chichijima is 1,296 mm, and the precipitation of the driest month is 51.6 mm, which means Chichijima has the tropical monsoon climate (Am) as compared to the humid subtropical climate (Cfa) in the Izu islands and the main island part of Tokyo.
Chichijima's climate is relatively dry judging from the Japanese standard; annual precipitation of downtown Tokyo is 1,530 mm.

WOW! WOW! WOW!
Yesterday, I finally managed to capture Jamink Church in heavy mist. I have been waiting six weeks to get an opportunity to experience this amazing location in these conditions and late yesterday afternoon, just by chance as I was passing en-route home from another location, the conditions were absolutely perfect.
Rolling heavy mist, a gorgeous subtle orange sunset, and a church on the end of a high ridge. It really does not get any better than that for me. I was in raptures and so excited to see what I had captured on the memory card. Isn't that just the best feeling? Knowing that you should have gold on your card and not being able to wait until you return home to see exactly what you have got. It really felt like Christmas morning and Santa definitely delivered, lol.
So here is the image of Jamnik Church surrounded by rolling mist with huge mountains providing the dramatic backdrop.
I do LOVE sLOVEnia 😊

Petunia is a genus in the family Solanaceae, subfamily Petunioideae. Well known members of Solanaceae in other subfamilies include tobacco (subfamily Nicotianoideae), and the cape gooseberry, tomato, potato, deadly nightshade and chili pepper (subfamily Solanoideae). It's a flowering plant of South American origin. Petunias can tolerate relatively harsh conditions and hot climates, but not frost. They need at least five hours of sunlight every day and flourish in moist soil and conditions of low atmospheric humidity. Petunias are generally insect pollinated. The Maya and Inca believed that the scent of petunias had the power to ward off underworld monsters and spirits. Their flower-buds were bunched together for magical drinks. 46679
This is another typical farm house in Azumino Valley with cedar woods for windbreak. This photo was taken in Matsukawa village, a few km south of the previous photo.
Dispersed settlement is a characteristic of western part of Azumino Valley where the development was relatively new compared with the eastern part where settlements are older and agglomerated. It is thanks to the improvement of security conditions along with the progress of flood control techniques in the Edo period (17th to 19th century), which made it possible to convert the flood plains to rice paddy.
Rice blooms from late July to early August.
The harvest season is from late September to mid-October.

Yesterday flight conditions were not ideal (either too little updraft or too strong gusts of wind) and quite a few paragliders aborted the take-off (more than once) and eventually left the mountain by the railway ... this one did a great start and floated away
I envy the freedom of paragliders as they soar high above it all, but I have not the guts to try it myself as I prefer standing on solid ground ; ))
Somehow I always hear Pink Floyd's 'Learning to Fly' in my head when watching paragliders ("can't keep my mind from the circling skies")

Irgendwie habe ich immer Pink Floyds 'learning to fly' im Kopf, wenn ich Gleitschirme beobachte ("can't keep my mind from the circling skies")
Dainty European Skipper butterfly taking nectar from a wild Bulls-eye Daisy.
Uncommon migrant into the area. First seen in London, Ont, Canada in 1910, then spreading south. Can be abundant, if conditions are right.
Due to drought conditions, water is not always present at the falls. We were lucky to see a trickle coming over the cliff high above. Still pretty awesome and the area is beautiful. There are signs galore warning of potential landslides and danger, but visitors (such as myself) ventured close anyway.

The snow followed by one of these now infamous "polar vortexes," bringing real temps (not wind chill) overnight to a nippy -25F/-31C, rising all the way to 0F/-18C over the day....these pleasing conditions to last at least a week.
A photo taken yesterday when it was suprisingly sunny. Today the cats' garden visits were brief as the weather is quite ugly again. It's better for Fynn to stay indoors under such conditions as the last thing we need now is a flare-up of his cat flu. He is still struggling with his tummy issues and we have another vet appointment for Thursday morning.
Formerly a UK breeding bird but more regularly seen in Europe they tend to turn up in this country on migration if we get an easterly wind at the right moment.
We got those conditions in early September this year resulting in only the third I’ve seen in Northumberland while I was on Holy Island (Lindisfarne).
This stunningly tame individual was hopping around on the path looking for insects. It looked a bit lethargic for a while but after about an hour had perked up enough to fly off.
A member of the Woodpecker family, not much bigger than a Sparrow, but behaves totally differently to other Woodpeckers, not climbing up and down on trees searching for food.
Groynes reduce longshore transport by trapping beach material and causing the beach orientation to change relative to the dominant wave directions. They mainly influence bedload transport and are most effective on shingle or gravel beaches. Sand is carried in temporary suspension during higher energy wave or current conditions and will therefore tend to be carried over or around any cross-shore structures. Groynes can also be used successfully in estuaries to alter nearshore tidal flow patterns.
Searching for Large Heath in far-from-ideal conditions on a squelchy peat bog next to Loch Maree in Wester Ross… No sign of a butterfly in the drizzle and wind; no surprise there. But the consolation prize was the dramatic sight of Slioch, one of Scotland's Munros (a mountain over 3,000 ft (910 m) high), which dominates the eastern end of the loch, as it dipped in and out of the low clouds.
The search was abandoned with the arrival of yet another band of persistent rain!
With calm, clear weather conditions at sunset, it was well worth a second visit to the Starling murmuration at Radipole Lake in the centre of Weymouth. The photo above was taken at 16.50 as the flock circled and circled creating all sorts of ever-changing shapes.
The photo below was taken two minutes later when some birds seemed about to drop into the reedbed but most, if not all, pulled out at the last second. The skies finally became empty of Starlings at exactly 17.00. Last evening they finally dropped in at 17.05.
A short trip to Vancouver and a few treasures are nabbed in broad daylight. This of course brings up the question of light it self. Is there good and bad light for photography? Instead, I would contend that if you think you are shooting in bad light, then perhaps you are shooting the wrong thing.
This landscape shot would not illicit the strong shadows and differing colors given those parcelled at sunset. Rather, choose your subject given the lighting conditions and find the gems that exist all around us.
With very poor light conditions taking this photo was a big challenge maintaining the bokeh conditions.

Conditions along the Lake Huron shoreline were perfect for creating a natural winter wonderland. Open water, high winds and a cold arctic air mass all combined to create natural ice sculptures of the trees, bushes and shrubs next to the water.
This shot was taken in Goderich Ontario during the small window of opportunity when we had partial cloud cover. You can see the clouds from the next weather system approaching in the distance which added for some dramatic effect.
Thanks for viewing and hope you have a wonderful day!!

After a long day working ... noticed that after two days of 50 MPH and then 30 MPH winds and sunny days, that clouds rolled in as the day was nearing an end and the winds died down to nothing.
Checked the radar and the passing front left behind a band of clouds over the Baltimore region ... and it was slowly dissipating.
I called my Dad about 40 minutes before sunset and asked if the river was smoothed out. He said it was nearly a mirror.
So I grabbed the camera gear and made a quick trip down to Middle River to see if Election Night would have some fireworks.
The conditions were great with the two days of strong winds out of the northwest resulted in a real low tide, so was able to get under some of the piers.
Here just as the sun set, the colors were golden and just beginning. The fireworks followed for about 20 minutes or more, so I ended up taking 75 captures from all kinds of perspectives given the reflections, clouds and low tide conditions.
