HISTORY
Pillar completed 18th October 1955 costing £61.3s.9d. Computed as secondary triangulation station NS04/6 within the Isle of Arran secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1956. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in July 1982.
SITE VISIT
Parked in entrance to the mapped tracks at NR839606. Followed the RHS track which is hard standing for the first 500m. The route becomes a rougher track with managable boggy crossings, eventually becoming a feint footpath albeit still mapped on older maps. The path finishes before the end of the woods but taking a sharp left at NS852621 will lead to the open hill. Remember this route for your return journey! Heading northeast, aim for the highest point and the summit of Cnoc a' Bhaile-shois, which is crowned with the trig becomes visible. The pillar is in good condition. The spider retains its original OS centre cap with raised larger narrow letters. The flush bracket faces SSW, compass measurement 210°. Vented through the back (NE) sight hole. Full 360° panorama with long views.

Niets is onmogelijk!
