HISTORY
Pillar completed 18th May 1960 costing exactly £20. Computed by Distomat survey as secondary triangulation station NH90/DM/7 within the Cairn Gorms secondary block, and levelled to second class precision during 1960. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in June 1976.
SITE VISIT
Heather clad hill with intermittent paths to top. Deer fence territory. The Vanessa is in good condition apart from structural cracks leading from the open rear sighting hole round the LHS almost to the FB. The spider centre is open. The flush bracket faces northeast, compass measurement 35°. The other three sighting holes are plugged. The full 360° panorama includes Carn an Fhreiceadain and Corarnstilbeg.

HISTORY
Pillar completed 22nd September 1952 costing £21.4s.0d. Computed as tertiary triangulation station NK03/T15 within the Peterhead secondary block during 1953. Flush bracket S6983 was levelled for height to first class precision, tertiary standards in 1969. This pillar station was last maintained by the Ordnance Survey in June 1989.
SITE VISIT
Climbed the footpath southwards from NJ868165 until clear of the woods. Then go well DOWN the western slope of hill to find the trig point. Located on an open grazing field, this trig pillar is nowhere near the top of the hill. The column is in good condition. The spider retains its original OS cap with deep indented lettering. Flush bracket S6983 is on the south face.
